Vehicle was in motion on a suburban road, driving forward, when it developed forward/bucking motion before stalling/stopping in traffic. Upon dealer inspection, the vehicle's high pressure fuel pump was found to have failed, which directly caused a failure of the engine cam shaft, resulting in a costly repair to correct.

In addition, the engine warning light illuminated and the oil pressure was displayed across the message board. The contact stated that an oil change was previously performed on the vehicle. Prior to stalling, the engine was making a low noise, which I have heard before as a norm on cold days to warm up.

We've experienced several incidents of the engine semi-stalling. This has happened at varying speeds. While driving, the engine hesitates as if someone has suddenly stepped on the brake pedal. This occurred while the car was engaged in cruise contral and normal driving.
When the consumer came to a stop at an intersection, the vehicle stalled.
Car is 2004 Audi A4 with 1. 8 engine and cvt transmission. Car's engine will upon acceleration from standstill, often hesitate and stumble. At times when making a left hand turn across traffic from standstill, it will at times not only hesitate, but actually stall or have a no power situation for a couple of seconds. This has led to several near accidents. I have reported to our Audi dealers service department a number of time. Each time, they merely say that they cannot find the problem and return auto to us. A couple of times they have said that they have downloaded software fixes to the automobiles ecm(computer). (excerpt from e-mail 4-1-08) I was then told by one service rep that he had seen this problem on those Audi's that are equipped with the so called "cvt" transmission before but that Audi has been unable to address. He said that he applied a software fix to the auto's electronic management computer, but this did not help. *smch.
While attempting to turn corners vehicle started to stall. Dealer notified.

Ignition coil caused vehicled to stall. Audi agreed to replace 1 coil but said they did not have the resources to fix the other 4. When asked if it will happen again I was told "it is a crap shoot". The vehicle was sold to me defective and I now consider it "partially fixed". It is a safety hazard being as it stalled in the middle of I-95 last night.
Consumer states that vehicle's coil pack failed out causing vehicle to stall, and total loss of power please provide additional information. Ts.
