Audi safety recall 19n4-electric (after run) coolant pump. I have been waiting now about 6 months for a new pump to be available from Audi to replace the defective cooling pump, that is to cool the turbocharger after the engine is turned off. I was told, in writing and over the phone by Audi, that this replacement would be done by the end of 2018. Today when I called Audi they will only say it is to be completed by the end of 2019. Not having the after run pump properly cooling the turbocharger can cause damage to the turbocharger and that can be very costly to repair. Also, if I want to sell or trade in this car now, with out the replacement pump, the value of the car is worth less and I will loose money due to this issue. What can be done to get this pump replaced as Audi said they would originally?.

Oil dipstick & support tube, made of plastic, cracks - brakes into pieces , both on the dipstick & tube that can easily go down the tube into the oil below. Looks like a poor engineering decision to use plastic that after years of heating to near engind tempatures then cooling has a high probability of cranckin and having pieces fall into the engine oil supply - possibally causing engind damage or faliure. Should be replaced every 5 years or with a metal structure that doesn't crack/break off into pieces. I would think from the youtube complaints on how to replace it I am not alone with this proiblem. Dealer part sales might confirm the problem.

Damage to secondary radiator caused coolant leak. Secondary radiator is not sufficiently shielded or protected from debris. There was no visible debris on the road leading me to believe something as massless as a large bug could have caused the damage. Car was towed to dealer and repaired.

2010 Audi s4 new vehicle with 5,200 miles driving on interstate and passing a car when waterpump failed. Car was towed to dealership and repaired.
I have owned my 2004 Audi A4 1. 8t quattro for four years. The problem that I am having is a massive issue that hundreds if not thousands of other b6 platform owners also have, the water pump in our vehicles is very prone to failure. The water pump found in our us market vehicles has a plastic impeller that is known to snap, crack, or leak causing the part to fail. I have had two of these pumps fail in the past two years. The first one failed at around 74k in July of 2008 when the part was nearing it's replacement date. The second failure occurred in January 2010 at roughly 98k miles. So I have had two failures in a very short time period. Now Audi is fully aware of this but has never had a recall or even acknowledges that it is their fault for releasing a poorly designed part. When a pump fails it usually goes very quickly. In my case it leaked and then I lost ac compression. I am lucky that I know cars and knew to immediately park the car and get it into the shop. I know that many other people have had significant engine damage because the failed pump caused overheating. The pump is also part of the whole system that drives the timing belt so a failure could also cause catastrophic engine failure if that belt seizes up. Overall it is a huge problem and each time a pump needs to be replaced the entire timing belt service needs to be performed which runs about $1700. 00 at a dealership and around $800-$1500 at independent shops. I feel that this is very unfair to us as owners, but that it also puts the public at great risk if a failure occurs at highway speeds or in traffic. Lives are already at risk enough on our highways and the last thing that I want to do is cause bodily harm or property damage because a company released a poorly designed part and did nothing to improve it. I request that the NHTSA look into this issue. If you search sites like Audiworld. Com and Audizine. Com you will find lots of information and first hand accounts.
Cooling started to leak into a sparkplug, no overheating occurred and car was taking to dealer, to find out the engine was cracked.

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Audi A4. While driving 60mph, the engine light came on, the vehicle began to stall and the speed decreased to 20mph and resulted in a loss of power. The vehicle was towed and the dealer stated that the ingition coils failed. The contact spoke with Audi who informed him that they would not pay for the repairs based on a recall.
In March 2003, the oil warning light came on. Dealer diagnosed a faulty sensor that was replaced for $300. In June 2003, the oil warning light again came on. This time it was diagnosed as a faulty oil pump that was replaced at $900. In September 2003 the engine overheated. Diagnosis: faulty thermostat and sensor. Replacement cost $750. Also, washer fluid container cracked and hand brake lever handle cracked (at different times) -- both made of cheap qualtiy plastic.
