3 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

At 47658 miles check engine light came on dealer stated it was the camshaft & repaired at cost of $2007. (2/14) and same problem again at 60,711 miles at cost of $2305. There was a camshaft warranty extension (recall) for 10 yrs. 100,000 miles for same car for 2005 to 2007. My 2008 car was purchased 10/07 & would assume mfg. In 2007 which was the time period the camshaft problem existed and covered under that warranty. It appears Audi did not want to extend that warranty into the next year even though the camshaft problem still existed. The camshaft should never have to replaced at such low mileage once much less twice on a much less expensive car much less than an Audi. This is my third Audi and I have never had a problem before. To date I have spent $4300 in 2 years on something that should not have to be replaced. Your thoughts and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

4 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

I purchased a vehicle from better way auto sales on 10-31-14. After 2 weeks of driving, my check engine light came on. My odometer was also going up pretty fast, went from 89,000 miles to 93,000 miles in less than a month. My brake light was also on permanently even when I wasn't pressing the brakes. I bought it to a mechanic & he gave me a list of issues that was wrong with the car. I called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle from to make a appointment to bring my car in to get fixed. They gave me a appointment weeks from when I called. After having my car for a few days, they called saying my dealership warranty has expired so they can't fix it. I'm 100% sure I didn't drive 4,000 miles in 3 weeks. The dealership warranty expires after 90 days or 3,000 miles which ever one comes first. I also purchased a extended warranty which the dealership said my extended warranty don't cover the parts needed. The labor of everything is expensive that they want me to pay out of pocket. I suspect that there's some odometer fraud going on or some type of scam. I also feel as though the issues with the car shouldve been fixed before selling. They claim there was a safety inspection done on car but aren't brakes included in inspection? I have little knowledge when it come to things of this nature but I do suspect something wrong is going on with better way auto sales.

5 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

Took the Audi A4 quattro to the Audi connection of cincinnati dealership for a check engine light (cel) on p codes p2293 & p0089 which indicates a possible cam follower, cam shaft, and/or high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) issues back on Thursday morning April 10th, 2014. Later, I spoke with lee at the service desk who stated that the cam shaft was worn and would be a covered item on this internal Audi campaign; however, he would not be able to get to it until the next business day since it would take a full day to repair pushing it into Friday. I received a call Friday April 11th at approximately 11:30 a. M. And it was lee stating that the cam shaft would not be replaced due to an oil pressure issue that damaged both cam shafts and engine. He later stated that the engine would have to be replaced that could cost upwards of $8,000. 00. I later suspected oil sludge issues that were also on a recall. Yes, the Audi connection did later relent, after stating earlier that they would not perform the work, offering to perform the repairs at a later timeline; a timeline that I could not afford to be without a vehicle and paying on a rental. This particular vehicle; Audi A4 t2. 0 quattro 2006 year, make, and model has a history of oil sludge issues and Audiusa has had class action lawsuits on such events- all anyone has to do is to do their research and locate issues concerning the very issues I too have experienced. Below is one similar to mine. . . "a settlement notice for the vw and Audi oil sludge class action lawsuit will be mailed and published in USA today on or before December 29, 2010. The final approval hearing is scheduled for March 11, 2011. ".

6 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2002 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

I am writing regarding a sad story about my 2002 Audi A4 quattro 3. 0 sedan . While I realize that the car is not new, and with 152,000 miles on the road; I am still disappointed with the series of events that has happened to me, not once, but twice now! about a week ago, as I turned the engine on, I heard a loud knocking like something had been hit and fallen apart in the engine. At the same time, the check engine light came on (flashing). I took it to my trusted mechanic. At this point, I am thinking that the issue was with a coil – but not really since they have been replaced and not that long ago, might I add! while the car was being inspected, the mechanic heard a noise coming from camshaft adjusters. Once they opened the case, they found screws lose that had literally fallen off and broken. The camshaft adjustment housing was also damaged, amongst other parts (I have pictures). How can this be possible? after all, the bolts are encased, and it is not like anyone messed with them. The sad part is that the same had happened on the other side a year ago.

7 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 10/24/2010

My daughter was driving her 2004 Audi A4 at about 40 miles per hour when the car jerked, she then pulled up to the stop light and stopped. The car stalled and would not start. The engine warning light was on. We pushed the car out of the lane of traffic. A few hours later we went back to the car and it started up with no problem, we drove the car with no problems. This is a very dangerous situation and it appears that other owners have had this problem. There was an investigation pe08027 opened on this issue in 2008 and closed in 2008 without a recall.

9 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/30/2010

I have had a continuing problems with my 2006 Audi A4 quattro 2. 0 with acceleration while pulling out unto a highway. The vehicle bogs down in front of traffic oncoming traffic. My private mechanic provided me a bulletin on the problem. The Audi dealer has failed to acknowledge a technical service bulletin regarding abnormal camshaft wear and failure with the standard stock factory installed pumps which are from a design flaw. The company has refused to take corrective action. The NHTSA has three items#10024427, 10030593 and 10025965 regarding issues with the fuel system. In checking online with a google search, it appears many 2004-06 Audi's have the same issue which create a danger to the driving public. The TSB is not making Audi look into the problem and I feel many consumers are planning to make repairs for Audi's design flaw including their cover-up of the design flaw. It is critical that this issue be investigated before someone is seriously injured. The consumer stated the check engine light has been on for the majority of the time he has owned the vehicle due to problems with the fuel system and or the ignition coils. Numerous times, the vehicle has failed to accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and upon inspection the technician noted an oil pressure issue involving the cylinder head, bearings and short block. The consumer believed the additional problems were due to a defective camshaft. Updated ivoq 08/19/jb updated ivoq 10/18/jb the consumers mechanic noticed metal shavings in the oil when performing an oil change. The check engine light periodically flashed and the engine did not run smoothly. Updated ivoq 01/12/11. The consumer also stated there were problems when accelerating from a stop which may cause an accident. Updated ivoq 02/09/11.

10 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/23/2010

Car did not show any signs prior to check engine light coming on. Within several minutes of check in light appearing the car begin driving rough and smoke poured from under the hood. My husband quickly cut the wires of the coil pack from the housing to prevent the fire from spreading, as I grabbed the fire extinguisher.

11 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

I have had numerous problems with my A4. First, my headlight shorted out and cost over $600 because it fried all the electrical wires and I had to get a new headlamp setting and wires. Even after replacing the computer has a lightbulb signal light that it is not sending the correct ampage. The power steering leaks continuously and makes noises also. The check engine light has came on and the motor is running very bumpy like almost like it is mis-firing or something. And last but not least, the transmission is not running correctly. When I put it into reverse it stalls and will not go. I put it in to neutral, then reverse again and it slowly catches sometimes. Now the check engine light is flashing and I have had my car sitting for a few days after all this suddenly appeared. I am saving money to try to get this fixed. I am afraid that the engine will stall or I wont be able to turn due to the steering and crash so it is inoperable at this time.

12 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Audi A4

The contact owns a 2003 Audi A4. While driving 38 mph, the check engine soon light illuminated and the entire vehicle began shaking. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer, but has not yet been diagnosed. The contact also noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. He checked the vehicle and discovered an engine leak. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they informed him that the vehicle had been repaired; however, the contact does not believe that anything was done to the vehicle. An independent mechanic stated that the shaking was due to the motor mount. The current and failure mileages were 35,600.

13 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/04/2008

I have the A4 w/ 3. 1 liter v6. Almost immediately after purchase, transmission exhibited bumpy lurching start from stop. Audi diagnose said that's symptomatic of this transmission and engine combination. Nothing could be done to prevent. Within 1st year, the car would stall and completely shut down, necessitating a re-start. Sometimes upon start, and most notably (and the example cited above) when driving at slow speed. (I suspect the stall problems described relates to the lurching transmission problem). On this incident there was no check engine light. Took to Audi, they couldn't identify problem. I took to an independent -- they determined problem as fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump. Most recently the car stalled when initiating a left turn from a slow 10-15 mph roll. As I slightly depressed accelerator, car stalled in middle of left turn -- had to re-start mid-turn to restore power steering and finish turn (turn was down a slight incline so car was able to coast). This happened around 2/15. I took it to Audi, the following day. They said because there was no check engine light they couldn't diagnose. I called Audi USA -- they offered no solution or database research of problem w/ other Audies. A similar occurrence was 8/14 when I exited freeway and as I rolled to a stop, @10-15 mph the car stalled. Had to be restarted. No check engine light. I may have taken to dealer but don't recall. My concern is the safety risk if this occurs with my wife driving and an oncoming car is unable to stop if the vehicle stalls in similar manner in the middle of a left turn. Could cause serious accident.

14 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2002 Audi A4

Failure Date: 11/22/2006

My Audi A4 1. 8 turbo engine may have sludging problem - 80k miles. Car engine oil light illuminating after driving long distances - about 1. 5 hours on the road going approx 60-70 mph. But oil levels are actually fine. Oil light does not illuminate when driving in local commuting area. Audi will only cover the fix if consumers have receipts for oil changes performed within the 10k recommended mileage. I have to pay $2750 estimated to fix the problem - some engine sludging and oil pressure low. Audi will not cover. Note that owner's manual recommends oil changes every 10k and does not indicate that these 10k oil changes must be done at those intervals. Many of these engines manufactured by vw are failing. If the oil absolutely must be changed within 10k or 12k miles or engine sludging/failure will occur - proper notice should be given in owner's manual to indicate that they oil changes absolutely must be performed at 10k miles or engine failure will occur and a high red alert message should be displayed in the dash when system's check is performed by driver. This is a defective engine which poses a safety hazard on the road and should be recalled !!! I actually took my vehicle into the dealership at 16,674 miles because check engine light was illuminating on the dash, dealership indicated ignition coils were bad and replaced.

15 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/21/2006

I am having ongoing major issues (equipment and safety) with my Audi A4 cabriolet with no resolution from my local dealer or Audi customer care agents. I have had my car towed three times in three months. Most recently(July 21) my car was undriveable, leaving me stranded 2. 5 hours from home. The engine started to "skip" and "miss" the check engine light started flashing and the check oil indicator came on. I managed to get off the highway into a parking lot. The person with me can verify that the engine/car felt like it was bouncing or vibrating. Prior to that, my car stalled in the middle of interstate 264 in norfolk, va. It was a near death experience trying to get out of the middle of that highway. The car stalled when I was leaving work. I decided to try to make it home once it restarted. Once I started to accelerate onto the interstate, the car would sporadically accelerate. It felt like a "stop and go" situation. It progressively got worse over a distance of about 300 yards, finally stalling. The dealer said they could no replicate the problem. Audi refused any further action on my car after repeated requests. The first time my car was towed was from my own local street: the safest place of three locations where I've been towed. The dealer maintains they can not find a problem for the second and third tows. I fear for my own safety to ride in this Audi car. Family members now refuse to ride in this product. Friends and CO-workers have witnessed the problems first hand as well. I have made repeated requests to Audio customer care 1. Get the car repaired properly 2. Replace the engine 3. Extend the warranty 4. Offer a reasonable trade-in 5. Buy back the car I have been rejected all along the way. I am again begging and pleading for someone at Audi to offer reasonable help here. I'm not asking for much. I'm simply asking for a car that runs to any acceptable standards where I can believe I am safe. Please help.
