Water Pump Problems of Audi A4

I originally had 3 recalls on my vehicle I called in to see about getting them fixed free of charge as explained in the recall tech bulletin . The customer service representative proceeded in getting all of my information then after doing so tells me there are no recalls on my vehicle and proceeded to update my cars info shortly after I went back to the original site of this recall put in my cars info again and all the recalls that was once available for my vehicle was mysteriously gone. I never received a notice and never got it fixed. Now the recall that was originally posted are starting to be noticeable on my vehicle such as the defective water pump, defective headlights and defective airbag situation what can I have done about this issue.

Issue with poorly engineered water pump. My water pump went out due to a small plastic seal malfunctioning and allowing coolant to expel from system. I am fortunate I learned of the issue upon starting my car and could immediately take care of it, although leaving work at 9pm, long after everyone has left and with no automotive shops open made it difficult to take care of. Upon talking with an independent Audi/vw specialist and doing my own research I came to find this was an incredibly common problem. My car had only 35k miles on it and was 1 month out of warranty when this occurred. The Audi/vw shop says they replace 4-5 of these pumps per week! it clearly is a major issue, especially since a car cannot function and is dangerous to operate without the cooling system. I was very upset that the Audi brand would allow a known problem to continue, as it does not seem like a �luck of the draw� part malfunction.

My car was over heating due to a water pump and my timing chain is going and I got a recall letter 2 days later on the timing chain and now my alternator is going out.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Audi A4 quatro. The contact stated that the while travelling 15 mph the light came on warning of a coolant leak. The level was low and the vehicle was taken to the dealer Audi of lynbrook 855 sunrise hwy, lynbrook, NY 11563. They said the issue was a failing water pump not a coolant pump and would charge the contact for the repairs. The contact had received a recall campaign number: 18v-229000 (engine and engine cooling) however the manufacturer when contacted refused to reimburse the contact and the repairs had not yet been completed. The failure mileage was 98,400. Tf.

While driving on the city street, the engine overheated and smoke came out. Stopped vehicle on the side road to see what's happening. Drove after engine has cooled off to the next body shop. Diagnostic: engine cooling is leaking, water pump is defect. Timing belt will be affected if not replaced as well.

We bought two 2009 Audi A4's for our children. Last month one went to the the dealer because the engine failed and needed to be rebuilt because of oil consumption issue, while there the dealer informed us that the water pump was failing and needed to be replace. I questioned the dealer and called an independent Audi mechanic, both said the same thing, we were lucky it lasted this long Audi has known from the beginning that this water pump is flawed and should have been recalled. Now fast-forward to yesterday, my daughter took hers in for an oil change and the mechanic, a different independent Audi mechanic, said car was fine except water pump was failing!!!! he said its a known problem and Audi is fully aware of it, its a $1200 repair not including the suggested timing belt change. Two cars, same exact model and engine, this cannot be a coincidence. Please help!!!.

I recently purchased my 2012 Audi A4 after a few weeks the check engine light came on after taking my car to have it diagnosed I was told ( system was to lean in bank 1) I was told I needed a new O2 system, light never went off and I was told next that their was a leak in a vacuum seal and lastly my coolant level was depleting at a rapid speed and I was told that their was a leak from the water pump.

Water pump bearings were damaged, that caused to rebuilt the whole engine.

We have a 2002 Audi A4 1. 8l with 16,700 miles on it (very very low mileage). At 16,700 miles, the water pump (according to the dealer) went bad . . . For the year of the vehicle, and the very very low usage, I simply find this unacceptable.

Rapid and catastrophic failure of water pump disrupted timing chain and led to severe damage to engine, requiring its replacement. This incident occurred while I was driving at night on a limited access road without shoulders. I needed to go several hundred yards, at most, to pull off road for safety. Audi's 3-year warranty had expired, and so it offered no help, despite low mileage and regular maintenance of the car.
