I have a 2004 Audi A4 1. 8t. This exact model is what is described in the Audi manufacturer's 8 year extended warranty for engines. I am currently being denied warranty coverage for the engine sludge that has built up in the engine. The reason being according to university Audi in seattle, is that: my car is "too new. " but it is a 2004, the cut off year for the extended warranty.

Ignition coil failed in one cylinder on 2004 Audi A4 1. 8t quattro. This part on Audis repeatedly fails. Loss of power, very shaky at idle and acceleration. $400 to repair, but now catalytic converter is ruined due to the cylinder misfiring.
I have had to replaced all four coils two (2) times on my Audi a. 4 1. 8t and Audi USA says this is normal.

Engine has an repeated but intermittent loss of power. Usually occurs shortly after starting the car and before the temperature gage shows the engine running at normal temp. Engine continues to run, but when pressing gas pedal all the way to the floor, there is insufficient power to move the car. Also, when in neutral or park, rpm barely goes above 1500 when pedal fully depressed. After waiting a few seconds for sometimes as long as a minute, engine will regain power and will then operate normally. This has happened at least 10 times from oct07 (when purchased car used) through 22 April. Manufacturer technician is unable to locate problem.
The contact owns a 2005 Audi A4. While driving 2-5 mph in reverse, the vehicle would not accelerate and the engine warning indicator light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the coil that distributes spark to the cylinders degenerated and lost power. The dealer replaced four ignition coils. The current and failure mileages were 52,000.

Extreme vibrations are occurring while vehicle is stopped and in gear. This problem has existed since I drove it off the lot new. It now has only 8000 miles. The vibration levels vary and can fluctuate. When vibrations are high the vibration is nauseating, tingles my ears, and rattles my teeth. My keys vibrate enough to produce sound and they appear blurry. My local Audi dealer says there is nothing they can do about it currently, but suggest there may be future remedies. They did tighten my seat and say that my car is operating within specifications. I drove an identical vehicle to compare from their lot and my car vibrated significantly more. These severe vibrations prompt me to place my car in neutral at traffic lights so I don't feel ill. This can be dangerous since my car may not be in gear, and if I'm distracted, then need to accelerate suddenly, I won't be able to immediately. I'm afraid I may get rear ended at one of these times. The vibrations make me feel sick and give me headaches while driving which can detract from my ability to operate the car safely.

While driving out of town the vehicle began to rattle and the vehicle would not go faster than 35 mph. The vehicle continued to rattle and the owner had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they eventually replaced the entire engine due to metal in the oil pan which caused problems throughout the entire system. Provide further details. Originally the oil light came on. The consumer stopped and checked the oil level and it was fine. Driving a little further the light came on again .
In very cold weather, the engine sticks and holds a speed of 6,000 rpm. This condition lasts for at least 40 minutes during which time the car is not controllable. I have had this happen four times. I have involved the local Audi dealer as well as Audi of America. They have attempted to fix this problem four times without success. Audi of America is refusing to either acknowledge or take responsibility for this problem. The first time this happened was on Jan 16, 2003. The last time it has happened was Jan 16, 2004.

1996 Audi A4 interior of vehicle flooding. The consumer opened the front passenger door to find a significant amount of water on the floorboard of the vehicle (front and rear/approximately 32 gallons of water). They later found water around the battery and other engine parts within that area, which ultimately destroyed the wiring harness and transmission control unit. This problem occurred before. The problem originated from a design flaw that restricts water drainage from the engine compartment because of the malfunctioning of the rubber seal around the drainage hole below the battery. The engine drainage hole was not visible or accessible for routine maintenance.

Vehicle loss power and started shaking. Dealer notified. Please provide additional information.
Repeated engine coil malfunction.
Audi service personnel notified me of a cam seal leak during the 10,000 mile servicing. They attempted to fix the problem once, but it still leaked. I brought the vehicle back and they informed me that a special tool from germany is needed to fix the part. So far the car has been in the shop over two months - and still waiting for the tool. Amazing, huh?.
Nar 1/15/2003. 4 of the 6 engine coils failed within the first 6 months of owning the vehicle.
I was told by the dealer that the control arms are failing because Audi didn't provide for lubrication points. . They had no explanation for the loss of the engine mount bolts, and could not respond when I said I had never owned a car that had lost it's engine mount bolts. . Obviously this has also got to be a problem caused by poor design and engine vibration. . These bolts should be safety wired to prevent this problem. I think Audi should cover the costs of replacement of the control arm and engine mount, but the differential problem could be due to wear, although again I don't have this problem on my Jeep or other vehicles.
