BMW 325 owners have reported 42 problems related to air bag not deploy (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I am very frustrated as I own a 2006 BMW 325xi with approx 55k miles and have a passenger seat airbag malfunction. At this time the passenger airbag is deactivated all the time. This is something that has a recall but it is VIN specific and my vehicle isn’t included. If a quick internet search is performed there are many forums where people have this same exact issue and they are not included in the recall. The recall describes my problem verbatim but I am not covered. This is a safety issue because my passenger airbags will not deploy if there was a crash. They would not deploy because the sensor in the seat is bad and was admittedly a poor design. I don’t think consumers should be on the hook to fix such a crucial feature such as airbags or any part with a bad design that could mean life or death. I have already spent more time on this than I should have been required to. I talked to mechanics and they couldn’t tell me why one was covered and another one not as they are exactly the same sensor. I would assume more complaints are not made because of the time required to do so and most people just take their vehicles to the dealer and pay the price. Especially most BMW owners. I have been around and working on vehicles my whole life and very seldom take a vehicle to a shop for repair. I research everything I do and my research has shown me this is a known issue and it should not cost me any money.

In my 2006 BMW 325xi, the air bag warning light, the seatbelt restraint warning light, and the overhead passenger airbag off light are sometimes all on even if an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. This is the same problem that's described in the passenger mat occupancy sensor recall/extended warranty but BMW says the recall/extended warranty is VIN specific and my car is not covered. My car is out of warranty. I took it to the BMW dealer and paid a $130 diagnosis fee. They told me that the passenger mat occupancy sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced for an additional $1350. I declined and my service advisor offered me a $130 discount. I declined that too. BMW should fix for this for no charge because a) it's the same problem as in the recall/extended, and b) it's a safety issue. If I have an accident with an adult in the passenger seat, the air bag may not deploy and it could result in serious injuries. Why is BMW not held accountable for this defect?.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph and making a u- turn when a second vehicle crashed into the front passenger's side of the contact's vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. No injuries were reported. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 13v564000 (air bags) however, the contact believed that the air bag failure was associated with the recall defect. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Total engine failure. Air bag lights illuminated. Air condition failure. Several electrical component failures. Incident occurred at idle speed at stoplight. Currently window system failure due to automobile accident. Window were slow to roll prior to the accident. Reported to BMW denied for warranty coverage. Rear side highway speed contact airbags failed to deploy resulting in medical injury on October 11th 2013. Window now inoperable BMW still fails to acknowledge any responsibility to design flaw.
