37 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 10/30/2010

Air bag sensor on passenger side of 2006 BMW 325i has failed, causing the air bag sensor warning lamp and dash light to stay continuously illuminated. It appears (by a third light above the passenger seat, near the mirror and sun roof controls) that the passenger air bag is disabled. BMW service center (global imports BMW, atlanta GA) claims no recall has been issued for individual car by checking VIN #, but problem matches NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000. Research online indicates many other BMW owners with 2006 BMW's have experienced similar issues with the air bag sensor and seems were not contacted for the recall. BMW should extend the warranty to cover all 2006 Bmws with this issue.

38 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

I have a 2006 BMW 325i sedan with sports seats that failed the seatbelt warning sensor on the passenger seat due to a defective "occupancy sensor. " this is exactly the issue as outlined in action number ea08001 but because the cars build date was later than stated in the recall is not covered. The problem exists in all 2006 cars and was not resolved by the manufacturer. Cost was $1,000 for replacement and 3 days at BMW.

39 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Damaged airbag sensor mat on front passenger seat that disables the airbag from deploying on the passenger side when the front passenger seat is occupied. This is a common problem, that BMW only recalled 200,000 in 2008. Very costly and dangerous.

41 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/20/2010

I currently own a 2006 325i BMW. There seems to be a problem with a occupancy sensor mat. I took my car to the dealership and was told that this problem would cost $1000 to be fixed. I later looked online and found out earlier models of the same vehicle were recalled. The BMW dealership still will not fix my car because it's not on the recall list. I asked if my airbags will deploy if the car is wrecked and the dealership told me "maybe". Maybe isn't the answer I'm looking for because I do have passengers in my car and I'm concerned about their safety. This sensor should be fixed by the dealership free of charge because this is a serious safety issue and has been recalled before. The recall should be extended because the problems still exist.

44 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 02/11/2009

It all started on a random day in February 2009 when the airbag and seatbelt light simultaneously came up on the dash of the car. In April 2009 I took the car into the dealership to attempt to get it fixed. The mechanic listed the problem as a passenger front airbag sensor, occupancy detection mat, programming to control units, diagnostic and labor and stated that there were no recalls according to the VIN number. Afterward receiving the car back, the lights remained off for about a week and then immediately came back on. Today, I checked the NHTSA website regarding recalls and under NHTSA campaign id number 08v384000, the same issue occurred in many 2006 BMW 3 series cars including mine. I just recently called the toll-free BMW number to check to see if my VIN was included in the recall list but they advised that it was not. Reason being: on any given production day in the factory, they may make 100 cars. However, 30 of the cars may use a box of parts that the other 70 did not use. They advised me to get a second opinion at another BMW dealership and attempt to get it fixed. Then, if the mechanic feels like it may be the same issue, that I should contact BMW's main office for a case manager. Based on the results that the first mechanic stated as an issue and that they are indeed the same issue, it seems that there was VIN numbers that should have been included in the original recall list that BMW did not include. I would appreciate your help in investigating this issue.

46 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

Takata recall. The passenger seat's airbag/weight sensor on our 2006 325i has gone out repeatedly (we're on the 4th or 5th replacement. ) it happens when the car is in motion and then the sensor light comes on to alert us that something is wrong and stays on until it's replaced. However, it usually goes out again within 18 months or so. I am usually sitting in the seat when this happens which is very unsafe. I can't remember the exact date of the first malfunction, but we hadn't owned the car very long; it was still under warranty. We have the sports seats which from my reading seem to be part of the problem. I would like to make sure that our car was not overlooked in the recalls. It never stays fixed for long and I don't want to find out that it should have been recalled when I'm lying in a hospital bed, or worse. Seems like more than a coincidence. . .

47 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 02/22/2005

A friend sat in the passenger front seat of my car and pulled the seat belt out - a bit further than normal, but not that far (she weighs about 65kg, so she is not obese in any way). The air bag light subsequently came on and would not go off. The repair shop said it was necessary to replace the entire seat belt assembly ($510) in order to repair. This was done and the light went "off" once more - for three months. The light is on again. This is a safety issue and I have been told that as long as the light is on, the air bags will not deploy in the event of an accident. I maintain this is a manufacturer's defect that needs attention as it impacts safety.
