To avoid a head on collision, I was forced off road. When I moved out of the way I immediately applied the breaks which then took some time to respond as if it was blocked or as if I didnt press the pedal. By the time I felt some sort of stopping tension I was put into a pole. Airbags did not deploy.
The 2008 BMW 3 series with sport seats, has the same issue outlined in recall #08v384000, action number ea08001. The front passenger seat airbag sensor mat is defective, and airbags may not deploy in an accident. The 2008 328i with sport seats should be added to the aforementioned recall. This issue occurs when the front passenger seat is occupied, due to cracks in the mat.

As soon as the vehicle is started a warning will pop up for passenger restraint system malfunction caused by the seat occupancy sensor failing on the front passenger seat. The warning will stay on and not go away. A previous recall for similar year models has been announced but it didn't cover all affected vehicles due to similar sensors being used across all these year models. BMW wants to charge 1000+ dollars for this sensor repair due to them saying this is an unaffected vehicle. Without this sensor working properly, in the event of a collision, the passenger airbag could not deploy which can cause serious injury or death. BMW refuses to do anything about this without a recall announced, or without thousands of dollars being spent just for the safety of my passengers.

The driver's side air bag deployed, but the passenger side air bag failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact's daughter sustained a face injury that required medical attention. The dealer (new century BMW, 1139 w main st, alhambra, CA 91801) was contacted and stated that the contact had to pay for the repair. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v071000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted at 201-571-5859 and stated that they had to inspect the vehicle and would call the contact back. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
I have an airbag deployment issue. Commonly defined as a 93a8 - code by BMW. This causes the drivers side airbag to get deactivated due to an issue with the triggering circuit from the airbag. This is a chronic BMW problem, with multiple reports from the consumer for the same issue. (I've attached forum reports) I have a car, that cannot be driven as the drivers side airbag is completely deactivated indicating a fault in the circuit. BMW is not taking responsibility and is indicating, I would have to bring the car in to pay for diagnostic fees and replacement of airbag module/harness & airbags. This is a big safety issue with a failing triggering circuit during general drive. Many consumers have reported on the same issue and this causes the airbag to not deploy during an accident.

Safety recall notice was sent first class March 2016. My daughter has called two times and is being told the part is not in and maybe October or November. Since then, she was rear ended as she was in motion on a city street on Sunday, 9/25/16 and suffered severe neck, shoulder, arm and hip injuries. Her air bag did not deploy which may have protected her from some or all injuries. Why is she not being updated and why is it taking so long for this driver's airbag to be received and replaced? information provided below is an estimate and only contains to our car. Going approximately 18 mph and miles approximately 42000 miles, but cannot verify at this time because aaa has it. The girl who hit my daughter drove a BMW as well and her air bag deployed.

BMW recall dated 11/12/2013, NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted BMW and was told my VIN does not fall into BMW range but I've been experiencing the exact failure since yesterday when I was driving down my driveway at 3 -5 mph with no one in the passenger seat. I purchased the vehicle new 2007, currently has 83,000 miles on the vehicle. BMW has likely not identified the true VIN range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement and told me it was "customers cost" because my car was manufactured in Dec. , 2006 and the recall only went through cars manufactured up till sept. 30 2006 manufacture date. I think asked her if they put in a new part on the vehicles in December vs. September of 2006 and she said she didn't know. It would seem like a logical item to have in their customer service help tools instead of refusing to fix a critical safety defect in the vehicle. I said there are hundreds of people with the same problem posting it on the internet and BMW should take responsibility for what they manufactured which she really didn't care, I guess she doesn't care if my air bag deploys or not. I said to her you are going to have another class action suit after a few people die which she didn't really care.
Front of vehicle involved in accident. My car rear ended a car and damage was enough to fracture my sternum and break 2 ribs to me. Air bags did not deploy and front end was severely damaged. Front is pushed over front tires and hood folded. I have photos. Vehicle was slowing for traffic and turn on a city street.

Takata recall on December 25, 2015 at approximately 5:20 a. M. My 2010 328i BMW skidded off hwy 99 southbound going towards lax. Vehicle skidded as caused by the black ice on road, resulting in us crashing into the left guard rail. My mother and I felt the entire impact of vehicle . I, as the driver, hit my head on the driver side window causing severe whiplash and a sprained neck. I had to crawl out of the vehicle because I was trapped inside, due to impact of crash being on the left side of vehicle. Once chp arrived, my car was towed off the hwy. The BMW's airbags did not deploy at the time of impact causing me severe neck and head injuries. I was traveling 65 mph, no higher than speed limit. Want to know why airbags did not deploy and if my neck and head injuries could have been avoided . I have hospital documents if necessary.

I have a 2007 BMW 328i and while driving down the interstate my air bag and restraint lights came on. I know there are recalls on them but when I add my VIN it is not one of them. I am a little worried that if I were to get into a accident the airbags will not deploy.

I was following my husband home from working around 5pm on July 28th and as he preceded to turn left, I observed traffic and saw it was safe to follow through as well. As I was turning another gentleman came through the light going approximately 45-50mph and we had a collision. My damage to my vehicle was in the front and the car was therefore totaled. At the time of the accident my airbags did not deploy and I proceeded to hit my forehead on the steering wheel. His airbags did deploy and he was in a 2013 328i and I was in a 2011 328i. I would like to see if this has happened before or why mine did not deploy.
My daughter was traveling on I-95 south in st augustine FL , when several cars came to a sudden stop. My daughter was unable to stop and hit a SUV, she was applying her brakes . The air bag did not deploy. My daughter was injured in the accident, I think something is wrong because the air bag did not deploy and felt the need to report it. Mike hurley.
Passenger restraint system malfunction. Passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident due to faulty seat mat sensor. This could result in fatality to an adult passenger. BMW recall dated 11/12/2013, NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted BMW and told my VIN does not fall into BMW range but I've been experiencing the exact failure since purchasing the vehicle used in 10/2013. BMW has likely not identified the true VIN range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement.
When a person is seated in the passenger seat, the seat belt and large airbag warning lights come on the dash and stay on. Once the passenger exits the car, the lights go off. I see there are recalls for the 2006 328i but not for the 2007. I am concerned that in the event of an accident, the air bag will not deploy.
I own a 2007 328i ,recently my car has been giving me an error message due to the front passger air bag sensor. Whenever, a passanger sits in the front it, a light turns on letting me know that the airbag is off. This means that in case of a serious car accident the airbag will not deploy and the passenger's life will be at risk. After the error message I did some research and found out that the issue is very common in the 3-series. BMW actually did a voluntary recall but it only involved 2006 3-series. However, I am experiencing the same issue that the recall was about. I took my car to BMW pacific in glendale and informed me that they would not be able to help me since my car was not part of the recall. Here is the recall that BMW announced: "statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on u. S. A. Model Bmws - August 13, 2008 today, BMW announced a voluntary recall regarding the front passenger air bag seat sensor mat involving approximately 200,000 model year 2004-06 vehicles. Affected are certain model year 2006 3-series, model year 2004-06 5-series, and model year 2004-06 x3 vehicles, depending upon seat type. BMW has found that the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit. . Read more...
Driver of a 2012 BMW 328i, was making a left turn out of a parking lot when her vehicle was struck on the driver's side (roughly the middle of the vehicle) by a Chevrolet blazer that was travelling at a rate of at least 40 mph. None of the BMW's airbags deployed. As a result of the airbag failure, the driver's head went through the window of the driver's door, resulting in physical and neurological injuries. BMW states that the airbag system is/was working properly (I. E. - BMW asserts the airbag system should not have deployed in this situation). Driver's complaint is that airbag deployment would have protected her and prevented said injuries. Thus, either the airbag malfuntioned and failed to deploy, or it is designed improperly. If there were ever a situation that warranted a side airbag to deploy, this accident presents those facts.

We were in the left lane about to take a curve to the left when a car in the right lane ran us off the road straight into a telephone pole. I was in the passenger seat and my airbag did not deploy, as the drivers side did. My head hit the dash and I broke my nose, my teeth, and suffered a major concussion.
The passenger side occupancy sensor is a known problem and I believe that the warranty extension has not covered all affected vehicles. My BMW 2007 328 convertible has the identical problem as identified below. I have repaired it and it has continued to malfunction numerous times since, while driving and while stopped, creating a safety issue for anyone in the passenger side should there be an accident. I believe this faulty part must have been used in my 2007 328 convertible. August 2008 -- BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series (sport seat), my 2004-2006 5 series (standard and sport seat), and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. A fatigue failure of the front passenger seat occupant detection mat can occur. If this happens, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. In this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. BMW is extending the warranty to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit to the following vehicles: my 2006 6-series, 3-series (standard seat), my 2004-2005 z4, my 2004-2006 7-series, my 2006 x5, and my 2004-2006 5-series (comfort seat). Under the extended warranty program, the occupant detection mat in a vehicle that experiences this specific issue will be replaced at no charge to the customer. This recall was the subject of an engineering analysis, ea08-001, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 08v384.
"takata recall" while stopped at a red light, we were struck from behind by a vehicle who then ran from the scene. The impact was severe enough that my passenger, julie coppersmith lost consciousness for a few seconds from either hitting the dash or just from the violent movement forward. She was wearing her seat belt but the shoulder restraint failed and the airbag did not deploy. The malfunction was acknowledged on the cars information system.
BMW 328/2011- poor rain handling & lack of airbag(s) deploying in crash where car was totaled. I was driving in the rain and visibility was fine. My car started to hydroplane and started fishtailing, then spun out of control and into a guard rail on I-95. My airbags did not deploy. My car has been declared a "total loss. " I have had 5 cars and 2 of them were BMW 3 series. My 2007 BMW never had a problem. I've never had an accident before this one and am confident driving in the rain. I do not feel that my BMW preformed like it should have. I did not suffer "serious" injuries but am having to go to a chiroprator and get deep tissue massage twice weekly. I'm not sure if the airbags would have helped my situation (I hit my head and am having what I'm sure are "normal" problems after an auto accident. ).
