The vehicle brings up a warning light on the dash indicating that the passenger airbag is disabled due to seat occupancy, even though I have a passenger sitting in the passenger seat. This happens at all times. This is a safety concern because in the case of an accident, the car would not deploy the passenger airbag.

My passenger airbag off and seatbelt warning lights are constantly lit up on both the dash and the airbag light on the roof. This began a couple months ago one day when I started the car and has been constant since. I brought my car in to be diagnosed and was told that I have a faulty passenger occupancy sensor, and was quoted $1,100 to repair. It has come to my attention that there was a recall on this sensor in many 2004-2007 BMW vehicles including the 328i, just not my year. I have seen a large number of complaints online by other owners of the same problem that also feel that our vehicles should be included in the recall of a faulty part that is damaging to the safety and general functioning of the vehicle. We have all already just had to wait for over a year to have the takata recall done, mine is just now being completed. I am very disappointed in the safety functions of BMW as well as their handling of such issues, and wish to have additional vehicles outside of those three years included seeing as it is the same exact faulty sensor that affects those cars. I believe that not doing so would warrant a legal claim and following class action lawsuit if BMW continues to refuse and ignore claims on this issue.
Since I got this car my oil was leaking. I had to replace the val cover. I can't remember how much that cost me. My steering lock module was replaced and it cost me 1,181. 07. I had my belt tensioner replaced because it was bent. It cost me $327. 04. This was done 3/6/2015. A recall on srs air bag. I still have the air bag warning light. BMW recommended to replace of exhaust lifters and roller drag levers with updated unit to eliminate ticking noise at idle which will cost me 1,466. 40. I need to replace alternator, belt, battery and the car won't start. I fixed the battery problem and as I was driving to work and parked the car would not start. My battery connection need to be replace. Common issue with all BMW. I will spend about 1,518. 7 to fix the problem.

The car's airbag failure warning light, and seat belt warning light started going off whenever someone sits in the passenger seat, indicating that there is no airbag/passenger seat belt function in the car. Dealer has diagnosed the problem as a failed passenger seat sensor mat and indicates that this is a common problem. Cars up until the 2007 model year have been recalled to fix the problem, but BMW has yet to extend the recall to the 2008 model year. BMW still has not issued a recall, and I would like NHTSA to perform an investigation as this looks like the same problem as NHTSA campaign 13v-564. The lights come on whether stationary or in motion, whether a passenger is in the seat or the seat is empty.

My car's airbag warning light began to illuminate intermittently over the summer indicating the passenger airbag was disabled, even when someone was sitting in the seat with their seat belt fastened. After awhile, the airbag warning light was on consistently, as well as the seat belt light. The car now has the passenger airbag permanently disabled. This car is unsafe for a front passenger as there is no way to enable the airbag manually. I was informed by BMW that there was a recall regarding the same year and model (2007 328i) for this exact problem, however my car does not qualify for either the recall, or the extended warranty as it is only models with a certain part number.
Air bag and seat belt warning lights on dash remain lit at all times. Additionally, the "passenger airbag disabled" indicator remains lit at all times. There is a recall campaign for the passenger seat sensor mat issue which caused these problems, yet apparently not for my VIN. The disabled passenger seat airbag is a major safety issue, and clearly my VIN should be part of the recall.

The technician diagnosed that the passenger's side air bag sensor had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
Warning light came on so we took the care to a technician who found the following fault code: "-93c3 seat occupancy detector, passenger, currently present, 95x0". This failure seems to be extremely common with this vehicle. When I contacted BMW customer relations, they stated: "thank you for contacting BMW of north America, llc regarding our amended voluntary recall announcement for the front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor mat for certain 2006-2007 models depending upon seat type. Included 3 series are 2006-2007 3 series sedans with sports seats that were produced between December 2005 ¿ September 2006. Recalls are specific to a vehicle's identification number (VIN) based on the above criteria, and <my VIN> does not have this recall. I suggest continuing to work with the service team at your authorized BMW center to review any concerns you may have with your vehicle. " can you please investigate this and consider more vehicles for this recall? also, please let me know if I have any recourse for reimbursement if I go ahead and have the vehicle repaired at my own cost. Thank you!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 BMW 328. The contact stated that the air bag warning lights were continuously illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnosis. The VIN was unavailable. Pam.
Seat belt and air bag warning lights go on when there's no one sitting in the passenger seat. Was told this is likely a seat sensor issue. I have the sport package and have read that many people have the seat sensor issue with sport seats. Also there has been a recall for almost every year model for the BMW 3-series up to 2007 for seat sensor recall. The light is on constantly now when the car is turned on, whether it is driving or stationary. The lights used to go intermittently on or off but now they are staying on. This makes questionable whether the seat belts are working or if the air bags will deploy.
The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328i. While starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the air bag sensor was faulty. The contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 13v564000 (air bags) but the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78000.
The car's airbag failure warning light started going off whenever someone sits in the passenger seat, indicating that there is no airbag function in the car. Dealer has diagnosed the problem as a failed passenger seat sensor mat and indicates that this is a common problem. Cars up until the 2007 model year have been recalled to fix the problem, but BMW has yet to extend the recall to the 2008 model year. It appears that e91 models (my car) have the same sensor mat part as the recalled models, but BMW has not acknowledged that the problem is the actual part and not the "model year".
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 BMW 328i. The contact stated that while driving at 63 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. In addition, no warning lights illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle and the airbags exploded ejecting metal fragments. The contact sustained leg, ribs and sternum injuries. The passenger sustained bruises, a punctured intestine, neck and rib injuries. Both the driver and passenger required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,500. Pam.

2013 BMW 328i x-drive, driving @ 40 mph the drivetrain malfunction light came on, car went into reduced power mode (no higher than 20 mph) making a very dangerous situation in traffic. Luckily I could pull over to a safe area. I called BMW roadside assistance. When tow truck arrived, no warning light! dealer could not replicate error, but now have a air bag warning coming on intermittently. . . Back to dealer I guess. This is a common, potentially dangerous and frustrating issue for 328 owners.
