1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 1999 BMW 328

Failure Date: 06/11/2020

On June 11, 2020 my car was delivered to classic BMW in plano, texas for 1999 BMW safety recall 19v-851 for the takata non-azide driver inflator. They were only supposed to change the igniter, but when I received the car the next day I noticed they replaced the entire airbag assembly. A couple of days later I tried the horn and it did not work and made an appointment to bring the car back for repair. I got the car back on June 25. 2020 and was told that a connector was not completely attached. However, the paperwork they gave me stated - "first visit a dual stage airbag was received from parts. Vehicle has a one stage igniter. The harness was different causing horn to be inop. " the car was returned with the original airbag (or one that looks just like it) and the horn now works. Everything I have researched online states that these 2 systems (single stage & dual stage airbags) are not compatablie with wiring and computer software and will not function. Had I not checked the horn the car would not have been returned for months until the next inspection and my wife would have been driving without a fuctional airbag. The service advisor told me this that the car was safe that they returned to me on June 12. If that was true, why did they put the original bag back on the car. I understand mistakes happen as BMW changed to the dual system sometime in 1999 but I feel these guys were lying to me trying to cover up their mistake.

Takata recall I received mailed correspondence from tk holding regarding defective airbags for my 2007 328xi. I was instructed to complete the claim forms mailed to mail which I did. Subsequently my claim was denied and to date no repairs have been made or offered for the affected takaka parts inside my vehicle. As it my only means of transportation. I continue to drive with the faulty parts. I await recall for the takaka inflator recall. I made an appointment to BMW of mt. Laurel to fix it and was informed that they were not fixing takata inflator recalls at that time.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

Takata recall. Even though my car's driver's side airbag may contain the takata psdi-5 inflator, BMW has not issued a recall to replace it. I will not drive the car or let any of my family drive it until BMW replaces the psdi-5 inflator or determines that my car has a safe inflator. I spoke with a BMW-USA customer rep. On September 19, 2017 and his only answer to all of my questions and concerns was, "there is no recall on your car!" he would not even acknowledge the fact that there are over 800,000 BMW cars with faulty takata inflators yet to be replaced. I asked that my car be inspected and the inflator replaced if it was a psdi-5 or that BMW provide me a loaner car until they finally did fix mine. If my car contains the psdi-5 inflator it is as potentially deadly now as when BMW replaces it with a safe one and until they do, I will not drive the car. Will NHTSA help me in this situation?.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 05/02/2017

Takata recall. I received an important safety recall - final remedy available notice from BMW, recall campaign no. 16v-071. It states: we are pleased to inform you that we have the necessary parts to complete this recall. Please contact your authorized BMW center immediately to schedule an appointment to have this important free repair performed as soon as possible. So I called advantage BMW midtown in houston, TX, and all the lady could do is put my name on a call back list without a timeframe for a return call. When I complained that this was unacceptable, she put me in touch with a BMW customer relations rep. I explained to the lady at advantage BMW and BMW USA that the notice states: in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's air bag, excessive internal pressure could cause rupturing of the air bag inflator, resulting in metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers potentially resulting in serious injury or death. If you are not the only driver of this vechile, please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information. All the BMW customer care rep could do is make sure that my name was on the call back list as well. I do not understand why BMW and it's authorized dealer can not schedule an appointment for the required repairs. BMW's letter states that the parts are available and it is an important recall that if the air bag is deployed it can cause serious injury and/or death. What is going on with BMW and it's dealers? I do not understand why they do not take care of such an important recall immediately like the recall notice states. If BMW is the "ultimate driving machine"? why doesn't BMW fix the vehicle that can cause serious injury and/or death? this is unacceptable!.

Six months after the recall was announced advising me of the potential for serious death or injury as a result of airbag inflator rupturing. I have received no additional notification, and feel that 6 months is in excess of a reasonable amount of time.
