While driving the vehicle at freeway speed it suddenly and unexpectedly lost power causing me to have to take action to cross lanes of traffic to the shoulder. The dealer replaced the fuel rail and additional components however this did not prevent rerepeated recurrence of the issue. I am concerned that if the issue is not resolved it will lead to a dangerous and unsafe situation. This is a recurring issue even though the BMW repaired it. Car displays drivetrain malfunction message and check engine light.

While driving and vehicle in motion even during acceleration, with no warnings vehicle just stalls. Engine shuts off and loss of power steering. Power to rest of vehicle still works fine and not interrupted. This has happened on city streets but luckily was able to muscle off the street into safety as car still glided. Unknown to components causing issue as check engine light goes off after being able to restart vehicle. Had vehicle scanned and nothing comes up. I brought my car to a local garage when the check engine light came on. The mechanic had spent over 5 hours taking our car apart once he found that some of the bolts on the camshaft were broken and had fallen in the engine as far as the oil pan. I called BMW and they said that although there was an extended recall on this that the would not cover any of the expenses for this major repair which was over $5500! they would have covered the repair if I brought the car into one of their service centers. I would have had to pay my local garage thousands of dollars to give me the car in pieces and have is towed to BMW. I told my mechanic to complete the repair and I would attempt to fight BMW. Contacting you is my first step in fight BMW. I will also look into a class action that may have started against them and join it.

In spite of my vehicle matching the make, model, year, and engine type described in the recall, BMW informed me that my VIN was not showing any recall. It appears BMW of north America has either intentionally or through negligence omitted certain vehicle vins from the recall bulletin, even though they are subject to the malfunction specified (shearing of vanos bolts).

My car has been having serious issues. Over heating, smoking uncontrollably,unable to use air/ heat conditioning due to toxic smoke coming through vent. Lights signal, check engine light, and brake light will not turn off. I fear for my life and have been car pulling due to my car issues. I feel as though, my car is at risk of catching on fire. The car has even shut off 5 times due to the excessive smoke. In was told by mechanic that I would only need to pressure wash the engine and it should be fine. I have had to pull over by the highway. I have wasted several dollars due to this matter with my car. Its pains me deeply that I'm having these issues with my car. I have worked very hard to get it. I'm at a loss for words with this matter.

A letter from BMW came in June 2014 stating that my vehicle is effected for important safety recall and that I would be notified when the parts become available to have it fixed. The recall was for vanos assembly bolts. The letter states that I may hear increased noise, check engine light may come on leading to reduced power leading to engine stall. I noticed on this website many people have had similar complaints and leading to steering wheel to lock and engine to shut off which can lead to injury and death of anyone on the roads. I have called my dealer as well BMW headquarters and both state that they have no idea when the parts will become available. So for now I have to drive a car with a safety recall and I can do nothing about it other than hope I don't cause an accident due to my car malfunctioning. This is criminal of BMW and needs to be addressed. I asked them if I could bring my car in and have a loaner instead till the parts become available but was turned down, unless I want to pay out of my own pocket. I am an owner of a 2007 BMW 328xi. Two months ago, I brought my car to a BMW dealership for check engine light issue. They told me that cylinder 6 was the problem. So they fixed cylinder 6 and replaced all spark plugs. On 24-Apr-2014, my wife drove the car to work and came home. That evening she took the kids to an event at their school and parked the car. After the event, she tried backing the car and the car won't go into reverse. So, I dropped the car off to the dealer ship and after they completed their dagnostic test, they told me that I have transmission problem which will cost $6000 to fix.

While driving to work on the interstate my car began to hesitate and would not accelerate. The following day the check engine light came on and the problems with hesitation became worse and the car would not go over 50 miles per hour on the highway and would almost stall when I came to a stop. Took car in for service and they stated that there was a failining ignition coil in cylinder #3 which was replaced. On 11/28 the car starting doing the same thing. I had to take it to a different dealership that was closer to my work because the car would not accelerate on the highway and I felt very unsafe. At this time the car has 53440 miles on it. Right out of warranty! I called both dealerships and come to find out this is a known issue with this model BMW. I was charged $681. 06 for a known issue and this being the 2nd time my car has had this issue. This time the failure was in cyliders 2 and 6! and was told to pay to replace all as they will continue to fail! I contacted the dealership BMW of towson and never received a return call. I should not have been charged for this service as BMW of catonsville would have done the replacement for free as this is a known issue with this car. I couldnt drive all the way to BMW of catonsville because my car would now accelerate on the highway. I am continuing to look for a refund of $681. 06 as I should not have been charged for something that BMW should have recalled.
