My vehicle displayed a passenger restraint system failure message. After researching the issue online, it appeared that BMW had issued a recall for this defect: NHTSA recall campaign id number: 08v384000. However, after contacting BMW, I am being told that my vehicle is not part of the recall. It seems to me that the defect extends beyond the vins that are included in the recall given that so many people are having the same issue and BMW is not honoring the warranty.
Just wondering why this is not included in the NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000 ?? passenger restraint system failure light is on?? looks like this would fall under this: summary: BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated.
2006 BMW 330i with sport package; with passenger in front seat the air bag turns off and message is sent saying passenger restraint system malfunction. There is a recall on this year and make and model but the dealership says not on mine. They say it is VIN specific. I say they know there is a problem so fix it. I think they should reimburse for the payment to fix the issue. I paid to get it fixed.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag on-off lamp illuminated. The contact stated that both lights remained illuminated whether the passenger seat was occupied or not. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure and the contact was advised that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2003 BMW 330xi. While the contact was driving 35 mph the passenger side front air bag suddenly deployed without warning. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 58000.

My 2006 3301 w/sport seats is not covered in the BMW recall for the malfuctioning passenger airbag system. After doing much research online there seems to be a numerous amount of BMW owners that are having the same issue.
The consumer rear-ended another vehicle at an estimated speed of 5 mph. The air bags deployed even though there was no body damage to either vehicle. The front passenger was injured due to the passenger air bag deploying. Please provide any further information.
