I got home from an outting with friends and "passenger restraint systems malfunction" appeared on my screen. Did alittle research, my passenger seat airbag will either deploy metal shards or not deploy at all incase of an accident. Or the seatbelt will not properly engage. The dealership says they are "VIN specific" and can only do my driver side. But everybody seems to only have the passenger side problem. They have the sensor in stock that can save a life, but they don't want to do the job just because my "VIN" does not match for the recall in their computers!.
Passenger seat airbag sensor toggles between active and inactive regardless of weight, or presence of an individual on the seat. . . With a passenger on it, it will also toggle between active/inactive regardless of the weight of the person (even an adult passenger will disable passenger airbag). . Seems to be historical evidence of this failure and yet recall is not active. There is no certainty at this moment if airbag will be operational in a crash.
Recently the airbag and seat belt sensor indicated a failure. I can attribute such failure to a defective sensor (placed in the seat mat). When I contacted BMW USA, they refused to include my vehicle in the recall (campaign wbavd33526kv61717). I would appreciate the nhts / dot to investigate expanding the recall to all e90 / 2006 BMW 330xi not just models produced after 12/ 2005. I took delivery of my vehicle in 11/2005. Thank you, steven a. Snyder.

Air bag sensor in front passenger seat appears to be failing. It is disabling the front passenger airbag while there is a passenger in the seat, with the seatbelt buckled. There is an open recall for this item on other BMW 3-series for my model year, but not my particular vehicle.
On 7/12/14 the airbag came on for the front passenger seat and turn off the airbag safety for this seat and really believed it's a problem withe mat airbag sensor in that seat but I didn't receive any recall letters from you my car still with this problem that put my family on risk if I have an accident.
Front passenger seat has a faulty seat mat sensor which causes the airbag to be disengaged. The fault has been verified by a mechanic and there is a recall notice for the same year/model of car but it is not specific to my VIN number. BMW USA and dealer have been notified but will provide no assistance in repairing the defect without normal compensation unless the VIN numbers are extended. Clearly this is an issue on other vins within the same manufacturing models and years of my car based on the NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 recall notice.

The airbag log is constantly on even if no passenger is sitting in the seat. This appears to be a defect in the sensor. However BMW lists other models but not the 330i with this VIN number. This is a serious safety issue. This needs to be recalled for all Bmws. With so many complaints on the internet BMW needs to fix this problem.

The NHTSA has issued multiple recalls for the airbag sensor mat problem in BMW cars however my car continues to be excluded from the recall population despite meeting the descriptions included in the NHTSA recall notices.
My vehicle has an airbag/seatbelt light eliminated on the dash. BMW has diagnosed it as a failed passenger seat mat sensor. 2006 330i sports seats were recalled for this item in 2008. My vehicle which has sports seats was never called for the recall. The manufacturer has also extended warranty for 10 years on all 3 series models with out the sports seat option for this sensor, but for some reason they will not service my vehicle as warranty or recall work. I have talked to two separate dealerships and BMW directly. They said my only option would be to file a complaint and that the government would have to warrant a recall on this vehicle and combination of options. This does not make any sense! this is a safety concern, as of right now the vehicles airbag system on the passenger side will not function if in an accident.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the passenger restraint warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The failure mileage was 117,350 and the current mileage was 117,409.
The sensor in the passenger seat is malfunctioning causing the computer to disable the passenger airbag. This was a recall on other vehicles of the same model and year, but BMW north America is stating that my VIN is not part of the recall. This is a major saftey issue that can cause serious injury or death!.
The passenger occupancy mat sensor is faulty.
Passenger seat occupant sensor fault.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the air bag deactivation warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that the front passenger seat air bag mat sensor failed. The manufacturer denied assistance with the repair because the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 08v384000 (air bags frontal). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.
My car displays exact symptoms of NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000 which is a passenger seat mat sensor failure. I called BMW na to find out more about this recall and they told me my car is not part of the recall. I researched online and it seems like BMW is denying this recall to most of the owners having this issue. This is a serious safety concern and it is obvious that many more cars are affected by this issue then originally determined by BMW and NHTSA.
BMW sent a recall on 06 front airbag mat sensor and I contacted them and they stated that my VIN was not part of their recal;. Despite the multiple complaints ive found online . They are declining any type of service and want me to pay for it fully.

I purchased a 2006 BMW 330i. There is a recall for the passenger airbag sensor mat. My vehicle exhibits the symptoms that led to the recall, including that the passenger airbags will not work as a result of the faulty sensor mat. BMW will not repair the issue claiming that my vehicle's VIN does not have an open recall.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 3 series. The contact stated that both of the air bag on-off lamps illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they diagnosed a faulty front passenger seat sensor mat. The contact stated that he was made aware that there was a recall for this specific failure by the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and they explained that his vehicle was not included in recall: NHTSA campaign id number - 08v384 (air bags: frontal), therefore they would not pay for the labor but would pay for the parts. The vehicle was not repaired.
My passenger airbag sensor light went off, and after running $125. 00 worth of diagnostics, BMW determined that my front passenger seat occupant detection mat, has failed and it would cost $987. 00 to repair. After looking online I found that there was a recall on this part for 2006 3 series, however for some reason my VIN number was not included in the recall. I have the exact same part number installed in my car as the recalled part number, however by some glitch, my car is not covered since it is VIN specific, and not year/model specific. This is incredibly disheartening, and my passenger's safety are in jeopardy due to a VIN# loophole. I looked online and there is a flood of people with the same issue on the same vehicle, not covered due to a crafty loophole.
The passenger airbag sensor mat is not working and this causes the red airbag failure light to illuminate on dash. It is my understanding that all airbags are disabled as a result. The dealership claims that my car is not part of a 200,000 vehicle recall for this problem and therefore won't fix it. I do not understand how such a vital safety component will not be repaired by the manufacturer and that the consumer must pay well over $500 to have it fixed. I think the manufacturer should replace these and save lives.
I have a 2005 330i BMW and the seatbelt/airbag sensor have been lighting up. I took it to the BMW dealership and they said that it is an internal error in the seatbelt sensor of the passenger side. I understand that this is a recall issue as stated by BMW and I would like to have it repaired as soon as possible. The model production # is km42802.
We bought a BMW 330xi in August 2003. In April and July 2007, we had the airbag sign come up on the dashboard. We got it repaired the first time we had it and it worked well for a while - no sign. Then the sign came on again in June. We gave it for repair again and the dealership again repaired it and told us that the problem had been solved. Our car went out of warranty in August 2007. We have that sign coming up again since September 2007. We gave for repairs to a non-dealer facility (about summer 2008) and the it could not be resolved. The repair facility told us that the airbag sensors may be going bad repeatedly and hence the sign comes on. We believe that these sensors going bad repeatedly when perhaps there is nothing wrong with the airbag is indicative of faulty workmanship.
