Takata recall-I've been going round and round with BMW USA and hendrick motors in charlotte, nc since Dec. 2015 trying to get info on when they are going to fix my death trap. I just learned today on this site that my car is priority 1 in high humidity area which charlotte certainly is. Plus the air bag lights have been on since Dec and reported to them and this is the low profile sport model car that is a bumpy ride. I was told in Jan by BMW that an interim bag was sent to NJ specifically for my car, but hendrick clams they no nothing about it. , they have my info and every time I call to see when they will have parts for the recall I get the same insppid blow off, we don't know anything but we'll call you as soon as we do. I just received a letter from BMW saying the parts are ready to call and make appt to replace and hendrick says they don't have yet they are on order should be 2 weeks but they cannot confirm the date, no one knows or has any info what so ever so don't bother us any more. I guarantee that priority had been given to any car that was on their lot for resale!.

Front passenger seat caught fire and burnt a hole from bottom up, took to the mechanic and he said it was from the airbag sensor that caught it fire, I was getting hair done at6 pm in evening, came out I hour later and smelt fire, looked and there was hole in seat, turned on air and rolled down windows, waived a magazine over it and made sure it was out. Drove home about 10 minutes away and air bag light came on. Tried to call BMW they were closed, went to my mechanic next morning he told me it was faulty to call BMW, I called BMW plaza and they told me tough they wouldnt do anything. I hated the hole so went to autozone to get something to repair it which made it look worse. . . Been looking on line for seats very expensive. My boss told me as well that should be directed to attorney general which I messaged from missouri and us attorney general. This could of been worse, if I would of been longer arriving to my car it could of caught fire possibly or even worse my daughter could of been there and burnt. If this would of been winter with the heated seat on she could of been severely burnt, maybe dead. This should of never happened.

I had a full sized adult passenger in the front seat. While driving the airbag light went off as well as the " passenger airbag off" light and seat belt light. The passenger was heavey enough for airbag deployment. After the passenger got out of the vehicle the light stayed on for about 15 minutes before turning off randomly. Before this incident the light would come on briefly by itself with no one in the seat but this is the first time it really acted up. I checked the VIN to see if it had any recals and it showed 0. I checked online for recals in general and did see one for this issue same model and year but standard seats now I have the upgraded seats but the issue is still the same. This recal should be for all seat types if the issue is present! I can't belive this isn't a more concerning matter, these our suppose to be life safty devices! I don't feel safe!.

Passenger air bag warning will illuminate intermittenly while driving, with or without the passenger seat being occupied. Both the seat belt and air bag warning indicator will illiminate. The air bag indicator will go away and may or may not illuminate again. When this started happening in October of 2012, the indicator would appear and go away and would not come back for maybe two or three month of driving. Now, approximate a year later the system will illuminate, when no one is occuping the passenger seat, or on start of the vehicle, or after the vehicle has been driven approximate a 1/4 mile. This appears to be a latent safety defect for the air bag safety system in this car.

I have a 2006 BMW 330i. My airbag light is on due to a crack in the mat in the passenger seat. I took it to the dealer to be diagnosed. It will cost me over $1000. 00 to have it repaired! my VIN is not included in the recall even though it has the same problems as the recall! this means my airbag won't deploy if an accident were to happen! I have four teenagers and two of them drive this vehicle! I think my children's safety is of the utmost importance! teen drivers are at a higher risk of accidents. All of the 2006 330i need to be included in the recall! I found many other complaints about the same problems!.

34 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 BMW 330

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

Driving with bag on passenger seat, "red airbag & red seatbelt" indicators light up. Upon taking to dealership, their code reader suggested "low battery voltage" caused lights. Cleared code. Months later, with work bag on passenger seat happens again. Cleared code. Suggested to buy a new battery. Bought a new BMW battery, and same thing, happens again. I take to another shop (BMW charges 100-150 to clear code each time. . . ) and they clear code, still "low battery voltage" but suggested I look into this occupancy seat sensor recall. Go back to dealership and they say unless code reader says airbag fault, they will not warranty. Through the course of 2 years now, the light has come back on 4 times prior, and now today a 5th time. I have yet to take back to dealership again, but making my complaints. I am not a genious but somehow I think the occupancy sensor mat must be defective yet throws error codes of "low battery voltage". When I check the code manually through the drivers stalk, ccid-97 (from memory) which online referenced to air bag fault. Although I have owned vehicle for almost 4 years, it was a "certified" preowned from dealer, and I"m being told that the recall covers only 10 years after the original sale date. Which means October/November this year of 2014, I am out of luck. Hundreds wasted each time, incorrect diagnosing. And BMW refusing to take responsibility for this recall until a machine tells them otherwise. And until that day comes, they'll keep selling me new batteries and other false hopes to fix.
