1 Car Stall problem of the 2009 BMW 335

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

I was driving on the interstate when my car started to lose acceleration. I could not accelerate up an incline. Then I heard a rattling. The next exit was a rest stop and as I was exiting my vehicle failed and shut down. I had no power at all. I coasted to a parking stall and turned the vehicle off after parking it safely. When I opened the hood the vehicle was not hot or smoking so I tried to start it. The car started but with a very loud knocking and rattling so I shut it off again and phoned the dealership. I towed the vehicle to the dealership over 30 days ago and have not been contacted by them not 1x. I have called weekly to no avail.

Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to his home. An independent mechanic came and diagnosed his vehicle with defective fuel injectors. The dealer(BMW of pleasant grove 2111 w grove pkwy, pleasant grove, ut 84062) had been notified of the failure and informed him that there had been a revised recall(recall unknown) listed on his year, make, and model vehicle; however, his VIN was not included in the recall. 3 Car Stall problem of the 2007 BMW 335

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

High pressure fuel pump - critical failure while driving in heavy traffic on the highway, the engine died without warning while in motion. Brakes and steering became incredibly heavy (presumably without power) as I pulled over with very little time to react. Car would not restart, just repeatedly turn over without trying to start. Pulled codes to discover that the high pressure fuel pump just failed completely - p142e $0018pd. Stalling in motion without any warning signs was scary. Turbo wastegates - caution turbos rattle severely while driving and performance is reduced. Extra time and space is needed when merging and overtaking. No engine codes.

4 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 04/18/2019

I was driving in a parking lot at about 5mph, and the vehicle suddenly stopped on its own while I was still pressing the accelerator. I continued to press the accelerator, but the vehicle would not move. After 3 or 4 minutes of trying to determine what the issue was, I put the car in park and restarted the engine. The car was able to accelerate once I turned the car off and restarted. If this would have happened while in traffic, it would have put many people at risk. No one was harmed because I was in a walmart parking lot traveling at 5mph when the car stalled, but I am unsure what caused this to occur. This situation seems to be related to the national highway traffic administration's recall number 14v176000, as it describes what I experienced while driving the vehicle.

6 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Car stalled multiple times while driving in the middle of the road while driving. Every time got luck and no one hit me from behind. Dealer replaced engine, diesel pump and now reported all injectors failed.

7 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 11/25/2016

November 25, 2016 approximately 17:44 (5:44 pm est) my 2011 BMW 335d stalled while driving. "engine malfunction reduced power" alert was on screen. I was able to re-start it, and continued on my way. This is a re-occurring dangerous problem with this car. BMW needs to fix this before somebody gets killed.

8 Car Stall problem of the 2014 BMW 335

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

Vehicle stalled on road way while going 50 plus miles an hour. Shutting off completely. Police were called. Could not get car to shift and move. Needed two different tow trucks to get dollies to move car. BMW replaced fuel pump. BMW says warranty on NHTSA for my year make and model does not apply to my vehicle. I am scared for my life. Felt like I was going to get killed as cars honked going 60 miles an hour around me at 830 at night on beach blvd.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2014 BMW 335

Failure Date: 12/15/2015

Fuel supply module (fuel pump) failed in my 2014 BMW 335i xdrive. My wife was driving to work when engine completely quit. Car stopped in the left lane due to the stalled engine. She was lucky that police officer was able to stop traffic and push the car to the shoulder. Car was towed to BMW dealer. Dealer replaced fuel supply module under warranty. Representative mentioned that there's no open recalls for my car's VIN. I attached a picture of repair invoice that lists VIN and part number of the failed fuel pump.

10 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 07/29/2015

The vehicle stalled while accelerating through an intersection and stranded me in the intersection. I was unable to restart the car at first. It would not even crank. After several minutes of attempting to restart the car it finally responded and started. It stalled 4 more times driving a short distance to get the vehicle off the road. Car went in for service Thursday the 31th and was returned to me Saturday the 1st of August. Stalling issue is back and the car is now being towed in for service again. This is an extremely dangerous issue. There was another 335d in for service at the dealer also experiencing stalling issues!!!!!.

11 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

My 2011 335i BMW convertible stalled for 2nd time while less than 200 miles driven in between. Vehicle stalled in slow speed while turning left in both cases. Vehicle lost total power in both cases. Took to the BMW mountain view, CA dealership in first occurrence. Dealer checked and no fault found in the system. Technician drove ~60 miles and couldn't reproduce the issue. Dangerous to drive the car as it stalls. Vehicle has only ~38k miles on it.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

For 8 mos now, my car has been stalling. I have taken it in twice and they have not been able to replicate the problem. It happened again yesterday and I called but now it is not under warranty! it happens about 15-20 minutes into my morning commute, stop and go traffic on highway or expressway. Usually at a complete stop or rolling to a stop. It always starts right back up.

13 Car Stall problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

The engine is idling very roughly at a full stop whether its a traffic light, or just stop and go traffic. The rpms will spike to 750-800 rpms and drop below 5-400 rpms randomly causing the entire car to shake violently, and stall at times. The incident seems common with my model car though online forums and friends that have the same car and the 328 with n54 engine. My main issue is that there is no malfunction code associated with it, and it happens randomly; sometimes when the car is cold, sometimes at running temp, sometime with ac on, sometimes with ac off. There doesn't seem to be a specific variable causing the issue, but it is a major issue non the less, therefor BMW dealership can't seem to figure out a fix for my problem and continuously turn me away even though I have extended bumper to bumper warranty. This issue has become a safety concern of mine and I dont want it to get worse and causing an sudden loss of power or an accident. Ive noticed that there was a recall for 2007-2011 3-series for loss of electrical power/stalling, but I'm not sure if its the same circumstance for my car or different.

15 Car Stall problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 10/29/2011

An authorized dealer informed the contact that the hydro lock failed and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. 16 Car Stall problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 12/05/2010

After starting my BMW it occasionally will run fine for between several hundred feet and three quarters of a mile and then briefly stall. This has happened while on the highway. It seem to happen after it has been parked for a short period of time (anywhere from a few minutes to a little over an hour). One time I had to coast off the road and re-start the car. The other two times the car has briefly stalled (all the dash lights come on as if it has been shut off with the key on), the car slowed down and then the motor caught again and began running normally. My car has been into the dealer several times. The last time they replaced the #4 spark plug and this seems to have fixed another problem I had with the car running with low power for a few moments, however it has not cured the stalling issue. I am reporting this because I think that it could be very dangerous if someone were passing a car or in heavy highway traffic when this happened. I am hoping that the dealer will eventually be able to fix my problem. I have approximately 44,000 miles on my car so I have about 8,000 miles left in warranty.

17 Car Stall problem of the 2007 BMW 335

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

I have had my 3rd high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) fail in the 3. 5 years that I have owned my car. All three replaced under warranty, but it seems to be a design flaw since this is a recurring problem in my model. Almost everyone people in my car club with a 2007 or 2008 model year 335i has had their hpfp replaced at least once. The car breaks down without warning and generally when comes to a complete stop. Upon failure, the engine warns of malfunctions and continue to drive in a "limp" mode, often stalling when coming to a complete stop. . . Shuddering during the drive until I am able to bring to a dealership. I have been fortunate that all three failure have occurred during low speeds and stalling occurring at stop lights and not during high speed operation. If it wasn't for my BMW roadside assistance, I would have been stranded on one of the three occasions. BMW knows there is a real problem but refuses to recall. They have issued dealer service bulletins and have increased the warranty on the hpfp replacements for 100,000 miles. However, a 100,000 mile warranty does not fix replacing the hpfp every few months (my 2nd in 4 months). BMW must issue a recall as this is dangerous and unpredictable, especially since this their is no symptoms for the impending malfunction and there is no user error.

18 Car Stall problem of the 2008 BMW 335

Failure Date: 02/14/2009

We were driving on the florida turnpike for ~100 miles and then exited. At the first red light the car stalled and refused to run normally. It sputtered and stalled repeatedly. We were fortunate that a dealer was within 1 mile and was able to effect repair. The problem was failure of a pressure pump which we were told is a known problem with car. BMW has not despite the frequency of this problem put out a safety recall. This is a very unsafe problem. Had the pump failed a few minutes earlier we would have stalled on the FL. Turnpike while traveling 70 miles per hour. The government should require BMW recall all vehicles with this pump. Our car had only 4400 miles on it at time of failure and was in fro servicing 3 weeks prior. There is no excuse for this condition. When we contacted the dealer on the phone who repaired our vehicle he diagnosed the problem on the phone. Obviously this is a well known to BMW and frequent problem.
