BMW 335 owners have reported 6 problems related to engine oil leaking (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My BMW 2014 335xi gt 63900 miles VIN:wba3x9c55ed867878 shifted to neutral when driving in motion on highway and lose power without warning light and stuck on road and towed to the dealer and they suggest to replace the engine cost 23k, and the reports said the reason may be due to fuel pump or previous oil leak. This issue is incredibly dangerous as it can leave anyone stranded anywhere. This car is only 6 years old. No warning light showed previously. I was doing regular oil change and maintenance and fiexed the oil leak. I thought it due to the recall case below: improper plating on fuel pump may result in stall if the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Nhtsa campaign number: 15v189000 manufacturer BMW of north America, llc components fuel system, gasoline my car is experiencing the same symptoms as indicated in NHTSA campaign number: 15v189000 (fuel system, gasoline) but vehicle is not included in that recall of BMW potential number of units affected 18,054.

I loved my BMW until I realized it has a faulty engine. I noticed the drive train malfunction light once when I went through a car wash. I turned off when I restarted the car. My car was up to date on all oil changes etc, I take it to BMW specialist only. I noticed a light tick sound and reported it to BMW at my last oil change. They disregarded it and said they did notice oil on the gasket. No changes requested at that time. My car never showed signs of leaking oil and the oil pressure at times showed to be low but would always return to normal. I was told it was because the hybrids work differently. On my way home on the frontage road of i35 my car just shut down and never restarted. I was able to guide it into a parking lot and the engine just stopped turning and the drive train malfunction light turned on. I had it towed to a mechanic and they basically said they had to replace the entire engine. A new engine cost $18000 and a used is around 13000. That does not include labor!!! I had to then have my car towed home to just park it. This is the only car I have, I owe thousands on it and the engine completely broke! as I'm doing research I see multiple complaints with the same issues and same result, complete engine failure!!! this needs to be investigated! from what I gather it is related to the drivetrain malfunction light sending a signal to the engine & stopping oil from reaching the top of the motor, leading to vanos complications and leading to metal in the engine leading to a complete damage to the engine. Cheap issue leading to failure of the entire vehicle. I've also gathered there is a fault with the start/stop that causes this issue. I am left with no car, I'm a full time nurse and now in debt with no working car! this could have been prevented had a recall been done a few years ago with all the initial complaints!! several forums including on this site!!.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 BMW 335i. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking oil from the engine to the undercarriage compartment, which then spilled onto the garage floor. The vehicle was taken to BMW of fremont (located at 5720 cushing pkwy, fremont, CA 94538, (510) 224-4820) where it was diagnosed that the seal gasket oil pan hose and pump needed to be replaced due to the risk of a fire. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 26,800.
2008 BMW 335i coupe purchased on July 15th, 2013 from carmax. Currently drivable but has major mechanical problems. The extended service contract is still under coverage and is valid at the BMW dealer or any carmax nationwide. When carmax can't fix the car it's hauled over to the BMW dealership to complete the repair and a check would be written by maxcare to the BMW dealer. The only problem is that I've had to take this vehicle in for major repairs several times and I'm not counting maintenance visits. Most of these major repairs were repetitive major jobs such as oil leaks, fuel pressure system, injectors. At one time my car ping ponged between carmax and BMW for close to 2 months. Consider the time I've owned this car for and how long and how many times it's been out of my possession. I was paying a car note for a BMW but driving around in a a base model rental car most of the time. I've got invoices/estimates where the car went in for major repair or diagnosis during these dates: 07/22/2013 05/30/2014 06/13/2014 07/01/2014 11/05/2014 06/25/2015 the repair invoice/estimate on 11/05/2014 was the biggest one. I was very frustrated with the amount of work being done on the vehicle so I got the car appraised to sell back to carmax and they told me $10,000 which I thought was ridiculous. The work done on that car amounted to almost $7,000 or more just on that one invoice which is 70% of the car value. Also, while the car was in the shop I acquired the history of the vehicle directly from BMW. The history stated that the car had oil leak repair at the pan and gasket and the automatic transmission had a leak in 03/06/2013 and the mileage for this record was completely off. As you can see the date of this diagnosis was a few months prior to me purchasing the vehicle.

Took car to dealer to check why I am losing oil. As I suspected, slight oil leak is hitting a hot engine part, evaporating, and not showing on the ground.
The contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking excessive amounts of oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the aluminum bolts that connected the oil pan were cracked. The dealer stated that the constant vibrations from the engine could have caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 97,000. . . . . Updated 06/18/12.
