I was in the middle of driving on the freeway and my motor started to get loss in power. Moments later a malfunction engine sign popped up. The codes I was able to pull from the vehicle were pointing towards a recall that already exists for BMW but for some reason my vehicle was not a part of the recall. The recall I am reffering to is 23v707000. It shows that there are 11 open recalls for 2011 335i including the vanos bolt recall. I called the dealer and according to my VIN, the vanos bolt recall is not covered. There are multiple reports online where the dealer is refusing to cover the recall for vehicles within a certain production date. There is clearly a safety issue going on as this has happened to plenty of people. Someone with the same motor as I could get covered for the recall due to the production date and I am in a position where BMW knows that this is an issue but will not cover it.
The contact owns a 2015 BMW 335i. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be jumpstarted. The battery discharge warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the water pump and determined that a short in the water pump was preventing the water pump from turning off. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 24v608000 (engine and engine cooling, electrical system); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 88,000.

On my car there is what is called the bowden cable that works to open and release the hood so that it can be opened. The problem with the design of the cable is that it sits right over a coolant hose leading to the engine. What happens is that the coolant hose gets very hot and the bowden cable that sits right over it melts along with the coolant hose. I just noticed this and felt it is a huge problem that could cause the coolant hose to either burst over time.

2011 BMW 335i coupe e92 my vehicle has broken vanos bolts which caused the engine to shut off while driving. This was a terrifying experience in which I was on the freeway doing around 70mph and lost power steering and power brakes. This is a known recall with these vehicles and my vehicle fits the criteria for BMW recall 23v-707, including year, make, model, production date and engine. My VIN does not show up as a recalled VIN and the dealer refuses to fix my vehicle for that reason although it is confirmed the vanos bolts have snapped.
I bought a BMW on November 3rd and within 48 hours on the 5th of November at 6:30 the engine seized while the car was driving when I took it to BMW they did a carfax on it, it said the car had 197,000 miles on it and the car was listed with 97,790 miles and the odometer still says 97,000 and the transmission is also slipping because it had 197,000 miles on it and the font headlights won't work.
BMW has made their early 2011-13 engines(n55) a defective engine, the problem I’ve been experiencing with these engines is there new engine system called the valvetronic system. If the something in the valtronic system goes bad and most likely does when you listen to BMW recommendation of changing oil every 10,000 it becomes very annoying to fix and can also lead to damaging the car ecu/dme so they built a car that would have problems and would also take out your car ecu which would make costly repairs.
The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335i. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for repair, he was informed that the camshaft bolts were damaged and required replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v707000 (engine and engine colling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 130,00.
I recently was advised by BMW that my valve cover had a leak as well as a rear axle. I feel that after only 8 years and less than 80,000 miles those component should not be failing so soon. My biggest complaint is that I recently had my power steering system completely fail on me. I was able to limp my car home and turn it off to let it sit for 15 minutes which the dealer recommended. I started the car back up and it has been working fine. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised that I should have the entire system replaced for a little under $6,000. My largest concern is that the steering system is going to give out when my wife is driving the car or when we are hundreds of miles away from a dealer to fix it. The aggravating portion of this is that there is a recall for this issue on 2015-2017 SUV's and the 4 series (recall 16v-704) and BMW will not cover the costs for repairs. I'm currently talking with BMW north America to see if their good will repair program will cover it but I still believe that the electric steering should not go out after only 8 years and less than 80,000 miles.
My vehicle functioned normally without any faults for the approximately year and a half/ ~20,000 miles I used it. The one day I attempt to start my vehicle in colder weather (-6 degrees fahrenheit) and my starter fried and my engine seized up. I have heard of other occurrences like this happening where BMW owners attempted to start their vehicles in colder weather, have a fault come up as "starter/ignition malfunction" and then leading to an engine seizing. I believe this to be a faulty product from BMW.

The contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled with the yellow check engine warning light displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle behind him came to a screeching halt to avoid causing a major accident. Multiple attempts to restart the vehicle failed, resulting in the vehicle being towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic determined the failure to be a defective high-pressure fuel pump. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.

After the car is shut off, the coolant pump will stop with the car but after a min the car will stay off but the coolant pump will kick on. Runs until battery is drained. I do understand there is a feature to circulate the coolant so help mitigate burn/hot spots but this continues until the battery is disconnected by ecu. Then it won't start because the battery is too low. Ongoing issue for the past 2 years now, happens intermittently. Frequency is random but happens more when it's cold out. But average happens a few times a week when cold out, sometimes it runs well for a few weeks then starts happening again. We had tried to troubleshoot by BMW but no luck. They have replaced battery, alternator, have tried to diagnose about 4 times now but they haven't fixed it since they can't replicate at the BMW shop. I can hear the coolant pump running as well as feel the water moving. Also tested by fluke meter, it drains at about 40 amps (at 12 volts) when this happens, with the car off. Doing anything (opening doors, trunks, locking, unlocking, stops it for a minute but then pump starts again). No errors pop up for it except when the battery is low and then error battery had high discharge pops up.

I have an f30 body style BMW with the n55 engine. After purchasing the car I noticed a very rough idle for a few moments when warming up the car. The idle would be so rough that when in gear to reverse out of my driveway, it would jerk the car further than it should be meant to go. A slight tap of the throttle and the jerking would propel the car forward resulting in a dangerous situation. I almost collided with a couple of cars so far and I have kids in the car. Upon much research and performing car diagnostics, it was found that the cars valvetronic system which controls the idle for fuel efficiency is defective. After looking into this further and joining a few online forum groups with the same vehicle, it has been known that this is a vastly common issue with this vehicle. Thousands of owners had come up with top issues with this engine and this issue is at the top of the list. I do think that BMW should be responsible for this system as it fails very early on. I only have 58,000 miles on my vehicle and thousands of others reported the same issue and low mileage. This system needs to be looked at for safety precautions.

Without any warning, the vehicle experienced a major engine failure while I was driving at about 70 mph on the highway. The vehicle immediately lost power and went into limp mode, making it impossible to safely maintain speed on a busy highway. Vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was determined that it had experienced a vanos bolts failure on the intake side. Inspection of the failed vanos bolts revealed that they were of the old design that BMW had issued a recall for. Even though the recall status for the vehicle in regard to the vanos bolts indicates that it was completed, it appears the wrong components had been used in the repair. I have been informed that BMW has denied my request to have the recall done properly with the proper components.
The engine and all electrical components including power steering spontaneously cutout while driving, usually while engine isnt being stressed at all, sometimes while idling. If the car is rolling, I have to restart the engine while driving and using manual power to steer. Obviously, this is a huge safety problem. I've just had the alternator and battery replaced, and they test fine. This has happened at least 50 times and I've reduced time driving vehicle until I solve the issue, which has persisted at least 6 months. I asked the BMW dealer about the following recall, and they claim they already performed it years ago after I already owned the car, without my recalling being told it was done. However, the symptoms are back, and BMW refuses to do anything about it at this time: report receipt date: Feb 07, 2013 NHTSA campaign number: 13v044000 component(s): electrical system potential number of units affected: 504,545 all products associated with this recall details 2 associated documents manufacturer: BMW of north America, llc summary: BMW is recalling 2007-2011 3-series sedans manufactured March 2007 through October 2011. The connector for the positive battery cable connector and the corresponding terminal on the fuse box may degrade over time. Over time, the high current flow and heat from electrical resistance may lead to a breakage of the connection, and a loss of electrical power to the vehicle. Consequence: if there is a loss of electrical power to the vehicle, the vehicle may unexpectedly stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the positive battery cable connector and secure it with an improved method, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2013.

I bought a 2007 BMW 335i convertible on March 10th 2022. On March 18th I left my house and as I was pulling out of my neighborhood the vehicle cut off at about 25 miles an hour and as I pulled over I noticed black smoke coming out from under the hood. There were no warning lights on with the exception of a random airbag light that came on the day after I bought the car and a tire pressure monitor light. My wife and I pulled over and I ran to a nearby house and took a case of dasani water from painters who were working (with their permission). I got the fire put out within minutes of its starting but the wiring harness is completely melted together along with all of the induction piping to the turbos and the intake manifold and fuel line. I told the car home and had my insurance agent look at it. She said because it was a fire it would be a mechanical issue and needed to go to the BMW dealership. I paid to have it towed there that day. The dealer called me about an hour after the car showed up there and said that they would not service or inspect the vehicle for damage because I have the wrong insurance company. I was forced to tow the car back home after being turned away by several other dealerships and collision centers due to the high volume of mechanical work already on their lots. BMW has open recalls on 3 series vehicles because they can have engine fires. My car for some reason is not one of the ones they cover under that recall. Still have no resolution from my insurance company on what to do because the car hasn't been officially inspected by a BMW technician. I've now towed the car three times and I'm exactly where I was at the beginning of this claim.
2011 BMW 335i sedan: please attempt to get my car included in the current recall. I have contacted BMW USA and my local dealership. Both said that my car does not qualify for repair. On a weekly basis, the car produces large amounts of smoke from the engine compartment and enters the passenger compartment through the vents. BMW has stated that there is a fire risk for this year, make, and model but will not address it for my car: wbapm5c59be577894 the check engine light turns on while engine smokes. The BMW dealership will not inspect the car unless it appears on the recall list. In addition, occasionally, the entire electrical system dies preventing all electronics including the starter from working.
I am experiencing a know issue others have complained about related to the high pressure fuel injector failure in my vehicle. There have been previous recalls for this and my vehicle should fall within the recall dates and is showing all of the symptoms of this failure yet is it some how not part of the recall. What is happening is on cold starts or even idle the car is shaking and has a very apparent misfire, I have checked the spark plugs and they indeed have fuel on them. The injectors are causing excessive fuel in the cylinder this leads to a host of problems that are potentially, catastrophic like the engine seizing while driving due to oil dilution from the fuel.
Loss of power/won't rev over 2500rpms no fault codes displayed on dash radiator fan goes to max and cuts off consistently every 30sec-45sec very dangerous situation when pulling out in front of traffic. I've only owned this car for 3 months! I need to get this fixed ASAP. Also, this problem occurs at random times in all different conditions. It will also "reset" after turning car off and restarting. It has happened to me 7 - 8 times in 3 months!.
The vano housing system bolts all broke off and fell into the engine causing sudden failure and stopping of the vehicle causing it to need to be towed. Upon some researched I learned that in 2014 BMW of north America issued a recall for 2010-2011 BMW 3 series (n55 engine) models for this exact defect except apparently my VIN was not included. However, clearly my vehicle should have been included because it sustained damage and could have caused me harm by sudden stoppage. The car is currently being looked at by BMW of rockville, MD and BMW is attempting to skirt responsibility.
The oil filter housing gasket, the mechatronic transmission and the electrical system failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk as a result of my vehicle losing power suddenly while I was driving on the highway. I was driving at the highway speed limit and my vehicle malfunctioned and lost power while others were at high speeds. I had to abruptly stop almost causing an accident. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the BMW service center. The vehicle has been inspected by the BMW dealer service department. The warning lamps that came on my dashboard were the check engine light, oil level light, and the transmission light. The car was running poorly. The engine wouldn’t crank and then it would jolt after driving. I would smell oil occasionally. The symptoms first appeared in 2011. I had my vehicle serviced at BMW regularly. In 2016 the symptoms got worse despite having my vehicle serviced for the same issue. I had the repairs done at BMW and when I drove it for the first time after getting it repaired it still failed.
Earlier this year in February I have replaced the alternator and some other major part right after purchasing from dealership and I have seen all the other recent recalls for the vehicle also it appears to have recalls that have not been worked on by manufacture . There also were no signs that came on also the wheel tightened up and stopped on me out of no where while driving. This being the second time this has happened as on new years I was on the freeway on my way home and the car did the same when I first replaced the alternator.
The contact owns a 2009 BMW 335i. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently enter into limp mode as a service transmission warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact would then restart the vehicle and clear all warning codes before he resumed normal driving operation. The dealer was notified and informed him that his vehicle was not under recall. A code reader determined that the cause of the failure was related to a defective fuel pump. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The contact owns a 2009 BMW 3. The contact stated that he parked his vehicle in the driveway of his residence the next morning his wife informed her husband that the vehicle was engulfed in flames. No damages to the resident from the flames. The fire department was contacted came out to extinguish the flames. A fire department report was made. No injuries sustained. At this moment the police department has started investigating the issue, no report made at this time. Towne BMW (8215 main st, williamsville, NY 14221 (716) 505-2100) was contacted and informed the contact that no recall was under the VIN. The vehicle deemed a total loss by the fire department. The contact insurance company was contacted however informed the contact that fire is no in his policy. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system) as a possible solution to the failure however the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however not further assistance was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
Charge intake pipe failed and experienced severe power loss during acceleration onto the interstate. No warnings or caution lights illuminated at the time of the power loss. I continued driving to my service dealer (valencia BMW in valencia, CA). Upon arrival, I opened the hood and saw that the charge intake was torn away from the housing. Upon further review, the dealership indicated that the part failed and needed be replaced. I had the service center replace the part in full accordance with BMW factory recommendations and procedures. The vehicle's engine is not modified in any way.
Well maintained vehicle with approximately 81,000 miles when the rod bearing broke. BMW has a record of rod bearing failures and recalls. BMW is not helping in my case and from my research there has been rod bearing failures in the same year and model as mine. I was driving when I heard knocking in the engine. I pulled over, had to be towed ajd BMW said the rod bearing went. They said it just went. Plenty of oil in the engine so it wasn't that. I was going about 60 mph when all of this happened.
Vanos bolts backed out after recall service replacement completed. Vehicle went into safe mode on the freeway suddenly.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i/. The contact stated that while at work the vehicle was parked on a side ramp. Without warning the contact was informed that his vehicle was on fire by the police department. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the flames. No injuries sustained. A police and fire department report was filed. E insurance was contacted and towed the vehicle to a lot where at this time is begin investigated. Damaged unknown at this time. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no further assistance was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Ck.
I was told by my mechanic my fuel injectors have gone bad and I believe this is from a manufacturer's issue. Please investigate as I know various people that have the same issue with the same engine, year and make. I took it to the shop after I turned it on to drive and the vehicle was shaking a bit more than normal, when I accelerated the car was very vaguely responding to me. This is why my vehicle began to misfire, because of the fuel injectors. I will keep all receipts until further notice of this issue.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 335xi. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle starter slowly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated while inspecting under the hood, he noticed a fuel leak into the spark plugs. The contact called local dealer orange county BMW located at 101 maher ln, harriman, NY 10926, (845) 782-4269 and were made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired as of yet. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with manufacturer recall 10ea02, however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
My car hasn't start up for 2 years now. 1st it started with a dead starter, then alternator, then the radiator and water pump bursted, and as I was standing outside of my car the passenger air bag deploys while the car was off and key out of the ignition. Luckily no one was in my car but now my car doesn't and wont crank or turnover, it makes a buzzing noise for a split second when I hit the start/stop button and thats all. I'm getting full voltage to it. Every time I run my scanner, I get different codes every time, I bought a 2nd scanner (carly) to compare and both threw out different codes every time but the main ones was the starter and pcv code; which I got 3 different starters put in, all new and the code was still ahowing. Ive spent more time researching and more money buying parts to fix my car then what I bought the car for which was $6k. Worst part is that my car wont even start so I cant take it to the shop and im definitely not paying a toll fee just to have the shop tell me what I already know. Ive looked up forums and multiple people is facing the same issues as I am with their results ending with a "please help if anyone finds out what this issue is". I've replaced the battery 3 times and registered the batteries each time. I have a new starter, alternator, radiator, radiator fan, water pump, thermostat, reservoir, crankshaft and camshaft position sensor, battery, ibs cables, power distribution box, ground straps, oil filter, oil filter housing, spark plugs, coil packs, manifold and gaskets, pcv valves, start/stop switch, relays, fuses, and I still get the same results which is no crank/no start and a buzzing noise. When I spoke with BMW customer support I told them that the closest BMW repair shop is 2 hours away from me and the lady replied "that's going to be a huge chunk of money for towing". I mean seriously, BMW should be paying for or that and fixing their mess but won't own up to it.
2009 BMW 335i. Consumer writes in regards to defective index 9 fuel injectors. The consumer stated the index 9 fuel injectors were discontinued. All 6 fuel injectors had to be replaced with an index 12. The consumer requested to be reimbursed the repair costs.
Nitrous oxide sensors upstream and downstream and catalytic tank all failed. Notices of extended warranty up to 10 years but failed after so no reimbursement. Suspect many people unaware when non BMW service center repaired and non recorded. Recall should be initiated. Have records to verify bad nox sensors and being told now catalytic converters needs replacing .

Car parked in driveway and burst into flames 5 minutes after parking it. Totally destroyed.
My vehicle has multiple codes for faulty fuel injectors. A recall campaign was initiated I n 2010 to repair these injectors. I believe the recall campaign was titled 10e-a02: replace fuel injectors. The eligiblity was listed as vehicles with production dates from 4/01/2007 to 11/30/2008. Vehicles included were BMW e90 models. I have a 2007 e90 model with a production date of 3/2007. It is peculiar that the production date did not include all vehicles in that model year. I have researched and determined that the part number on my fuel injectors were the same as the part numbers of the fuel injectors for vehicles produces in 4/2007 and for the rest of that model year. I feel my vehicle should be included in that recall, please advise. 10.
