My car is experiencing the infamous hpfp failure. The code thrown is p2aaf (fuel pump plausability) and p29f2 (high-pressure fuel system, fuel pressure). When starting the car, the engine shakes, rumbles and almost dies, erratic idle. . . I have to rev up the engine for a few minutes to keep idle stable. The check engine light and ses light comes on. It has reduced power, I can not accelerate quickly any more. I see people behind me move over everytime I go from a stop. I took the car to BMW recently and they found $8,800 worth of repair cost on the vehicle. I was told the hpfp needs to be replaced but it is out of warranty since the car is 10 years old and past 120,000 miles. They would not replace it for free. I was also told that the pump was replaced a few times before. I think I am the second owner of the car. I purchased it in 2/2013. Roughly 3 years ago, the car's engine shutdown while I was in the middle of the highway. I was able to keep it going about 4 miles an hour and pulled over. I was told the low pressure fuel pump was replaced under cpo warranty to get the car working again. This car is a danger to me and my kids. I think the hpfp should be replaced free of charge if the symptoms exist, no matter if their warranty has expired.
Car randomly lost power and went into limp mode. Heavy stuttering with check engine light. Occurred while merging on the highway and resulted in near collision. Car had 75k miles at the time, now has 76k. Car drives fine, but when pressing accelerator passed 50% car begins to stutter and go into limp mode. No check engine light or issues until this happens. Check engine codes read, multiple cylinder misfire. All symptoms point to hpfp.
The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335i. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. In addition, the engine temperature warning light illuminated. The contact noticed the engine coolant was still full. The failures recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the coolant unit and the battery failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 30,000.

Driving down road and car loss power. Then stop car, took a well start car, the check engine light came on, make home. Later slow cranking car and losing power well driving. Next day engine light turn off. Then later engine light back on car runs with less power and slow cranking up. I only had my car 1 yr and BMW dealership says it my hpfp/injector it's not good everything start happening right after warranty end on car that was left from first person purchase. And I love my car but this not looking good. .
I buy my 2009 BMW 335i with 39,700 miles, full BMW service was done the same day, my next service was at 49,000 miles however at around 48,000 miles. When driving to work on the highway going 50mph I had to move over to the passing lane and when I attempted to accelerate about at 65mph the car started to shake very bad and the engine light came on and I loss power had to slow down to 20-25mph could have cause an accident as I was in the faster lane and car slow down rapidly!! thank god I was able to move all the way over to the slower lane with little issue. After I pulled over I turned the car off and open the hood as my oil temp was just about at 250*, under hood temps was hot but not anything crazy, everything looks good so I started the car and it idle like normal and the engine light was now gone, I close the hood and was able to drive the car like normal, so I took the car to the local BMW dealer in my work area and they told me the issue I am having is cause by the hpfp high pressure fuel pump, so they reply it and everything seems normal for another 2,000 miles then I had the same issue again!
this time I was heading home and it happened when I was trying to accelerate with moving traffic omg that was bad all most cause a major accident with all the cars, trucks behind me had to slow down rapidly . . Was going 30mph and tried to speed up to 60 . . At around 45mph car lost power and was shaking worst than the first time this happened, engine light came on, again thank god I was able to pull over, I turn the car off and waited for 5-6min than turn it back on, this time the engine light remain on, my oil temp was around 190*, the car still idle and drive as normal even with the engine light on, took it to my local BMW dealer in my home area and they found this time is two bad injectors one at cylinder 1 and the other at cylinder 5 . Cost of repair $1. 1k.

My model car has a recall on the fuel injectors. My vehicle's fuel injectors have misfired and have cause the check engine light to remain on in my car. I have contacted BMW several times about this issue. They have told me multiple stories as to why they will not honor my car under this recall. One reason they give is my VIN #, even though my car is the same make and model as the recall with the same issue. Then they say my car is out of warranty. I thought the purpose of a recall is that it repairs your car even if it's out of warranty. I have spent over hundreds of dollars trying to correct this problem, and the problem still exists. BMW will not reimburse me or fix the car under the recall that I know my car falls under. The recall is even listed on my failed dmv inspection report, and they are still not cooperating. Is there something you can do? my car will not pass inspection, and it's the only car I have.
Vehicle oil temp was just under 250. Vehicle shakes when accelerating on the highway or on an incline. Engine light comes on and you can feel the vehicle misfiring in the gas peddle. Vehicle continues to shake in park. Dealer advised to turn the vehicle off and let it sit for 30 min before driving again. Seems to be a temporary fix until the engine temp increases to just under 250 or driving on a incline on the hwy. Previously had no issues with this vehicle until dealer replaced a hfp (recall notice) during an oil change. This will be the third complaint about this issue since 11/23/11 that the dealer has not been able to fix. Previously been told injectors were malfunctioning due to programing and also bad gas. I have always used premium 91+ oct gas. Recently the dealer put in a fuel additive and advised me to use shell or chevron premium gas in the future. I drove out the fuel additive tank, no issues and refueled at shell using premium 91 power v. Forty five minutes later, my vehicle began to shake on the hwy once again and my check engine light came on. I was forced to suddenly slow down on the highway to a speed / gear where I wouldn't shake. Previous driving history in eu with no issues on the autobahn and the vehicle is a us spec. Once the vehicle was shipped to CA, I drove it to az (800 miles) with no issues and continued to drive the car until sept when I had my oil changed and my hfp replaced. My first long hwy drive since the oil change / hfp was replaced, we encountered this issue.
The car stalled and lost power on highway. Engine light came on . Rough idling. First incident occurred September 2011. The second incident happened oct 26, 2011. Both times the car stalled and lost power on the highway. I believe that this created a very dangerous and life threatening situation for me and others on the highway.

I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i. Since 2008 it has been serviced at least twice for engine service light which resulted in replacing hpfp. In August 2010, the engine service light along with a slow and rattling start, odors of gas, and shaky rough ride -since then, my 335i has been serviced six times without avail. BMW na recall and BMW fairfax, va mechanics replaced the fuel module after the seventh service appointment since Aug 10. The car expectedly looses power while driving on the highway.
My BMW turned off on the highway. Engine light came on and car stopped.
Reduced engine power when the engine light warning came. The next incident was on 03/28/2011 mileage at 9008, the same happened at speed of 65 with sudden loss of engine power.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I am the owner of a 2009 BMW 335i purchased August 2009. On April 6, 2010, I started the engine in the morning and was greeted with long cranks and the check engine light turned on with an error message of engine failure, reduced power. The car has been fine before this morning at 7,200 miles approx. I contacted the dealer and was told to bring it in. The car was still drivable. On the way to the dealership, the car stalled and completely lose power on the highway and on the inside street causing me to have to quickly put the gear in p and restart the car. I informed the dealer about the stall and engine failure but was met with no regards. The dealer informed me that it is a high performance fuel pump failure. Please investigate the issue as I do not want to be driving on the highway and have the engine completely stall and shut down again. [xxx].
BMW 335xi vehicle fire total loss. Vehicle was driven short distance then parked. Approximately 10 minutes after parking the vehicle was discovered on fire. Vehicle was in the BMW dealer with engine code light on. Was told to drive until software updates were available.
