The driver's side window was stuck and would not come back up, it was fixed and two years later broke again, and the rear window on the driver's side did the same thing. This happened in the middle of winter, in the midwest, with temperatures in the teens. We had to duct-tape the window closed to be able to drive the car in freezing temperatures. I cannot believe the same car has had 3 issues in 2 years with the window mechanisms! something is terribly wrong, and it has cost over $600 to fix the car! the repairs do not last. Apparently the manufacturer uses cheap plastic parts which break. Are we never supposed to use an atm or a drive-through? it is very dangerous not to have windows go back up, especially in rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.

This is regarding recent replacement of both rear window regulators. Research has proven that many complaints have been filed over the years with no recall. I would hope for financial help, $1000 to cover the cost of repairs, as the minimum response; and also, I hope for a recall to help the many others who have suffered great financial costs and safety. I have been directed by my father, [xxx], original and present owner of this 2002 Buick, to help him be a responsible consumer/customer. My father of 88 years still believes in american made cars, especially in gm. He has been watching, like many americans, for a "come back" in the auto industry, especially the correction of problems that clearly has a large documentation of complaints as this one. I hope you will be able to honor his faithfulness in perhaps a small financial way, and perhaps even in a greater way through a recall. Window regulators fail due to poor design on part of manufactuer. Window is stuck in a down postion. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2001 Buick Lesabre. Consumer states all four window mechanisms failed in rapid succession the consumer stated the failure was due to a plastic hook. However, the dealer stated it was due to normal wear and tear.
Passenger window would not go up July 2011. One week later left rear passenger window would not function. February 2012 right rear window failed. April 2012 left rear window would not go down. Fortunately, it was under warranty. So far, the windows have cost me $735. 00 in less than a year. Catalytic converter rattles a lot in morning when car is cold. Only a matter of time before it will need to be replaced. Was told by aamco can be replaced at Buick's expense, but have not been able to confirm this.
2002 Buick Lesabre - powered rear window regulator failure 2x.
We are beyond three replacements on window regulators for our 2001 Buick Lesabre in 2010 alone and we've learned some people have replaced 4-6 within a short span of time.
Another very common defect with multiple year Buicks besides the window regulators that Buick refuses to admit fault and refuses to do anything about them. This is about the dash covering pulling away from the windshield and likely cause air bag to discharge and soon will obstruct vision through the windshield. Both of these items are very costly to repair and gn/Buick has offered nothing as far as I know to anyone. I will not buy another one. I have had to replace power steering hose at 60,000 and an axle at 90,000 and a tie rod at 50,000. And they wonder why sales from japan are booming??.
Rear windows failed within 2 days of each other. Rarely used windows.
Rear window will not go up. Dangerous for children.
Had to replace rr window regulator, window would not operate. This is the second regulator that had to be replaced (lr window). I was told by one of the emoloyees that she had 3 window regulators to go bad. Just about everyone I talked to has had this problem with the 2001 model.
About two months ago my back window went down would not come back up had to replace regulator motor today my front passenger side window done the same thing. Safety how can you drive safely when you are continuously have to check on kids in car. 2003 Buick Lesabre.

Window falls into the door without input from driver or passenger. This is a very common problem with Buick Lesabre cars and should be covered by gm as a design defect.
On Buick Lesabre, I have had defects on my back windows. I have had to replace the parts as the windows fall down and they will not go back up. It has also happened to my mother's Buick Lesabre.
My 2001 Buick lasabre, all four power window regulators have failed in a 2-3 year time, vehicleehad 55,000 when failures occurred, failure was in the connection of of the cable attachment to the window lift regulator. Plastic retainers had split allowing cable to pull loose. Windows cannot be operated when failure occurs.
Second time a power window has dropped within 4 months. First was the passenger rear in January 2010, second was front passenger window may 2010. Seems the power window regulators are running a metal cable over a plastic pulley wheel and using a plastic spool on the motor. When the plastic pulley wheel breaks the cable misaligns on the spool and the window drops and is inoperable. Costs of repairs is over $460. 00 usd.
My 2000 Buick Lesabre custom sedan. The drivers and right rear windows suddenly drop open fully without warning due to failure of electric motor of each window cannot power them back up because of a failure of the lift mechanism. This repair costs 400. 00 per window and is a known common failure of the 2000 to 2005 models. Recently occurred to driver;s window on may 7, during a rainstorm and had to pull over and stop; luckily on low traffic street at time. Rear window drop occurs more often and each time, I stop and with both hands raise the window and place paper shims to hold the window up. This presents a dangerous situation if it occurs on a busy highway/street as the driver suddenly loses focus temporarily. And is placed in a dangerous position as it is known that crashes occur in mere seconds during highway speeds when drivers take their attention away from driving. This is a common failure on the early 2000=2005 Lesabres and Buick should be required to correct this common failure.
While driving my 2002 Buick Lesabre, the front passenger window made a crunching noise and then just sank down into the doorframe. So I guess I'll be either replacing the window regulator or having the window permanently closed. I've already replaced one regulator (driver's seat) and had one other window closed (back seat, passenger side). First failure occurred about a year ago. Second was about 2 months ago. Latest event was yesterday.
I have a 2000 Buick le sabre custom that I have had to replace window regulators 6 times. I bought the car new and the windows are very seldom used. I am afraid to use them because it cost over $400. 00 to repair each one. I think there should be a recall on these parts.
Defective window regulator. Will not power window back up after it is powered down. Gm should be forced to fix this problem with a redesign of cheap plastic part causing the problem and then issue a recall. This is a $400 repair for each window and all four windows are likely to fail weather they are used or not.
I have had to place 3 window regulators in the past year. I have been told that some plastic piece on the regulator is failing. I've researched and seen that many others have had the same problems. Also I've been told by the previous owner that they had the same problems.
Driver's window regulator inoperable. Rear window on same side same thing, but repaired in late 2004 - bought used but rear windows not used by me at all. Driver window used often, but this would be the second $500+ bill to have it repaired. It seems there has been a known problem for quite some time, but I have not found anything that says it has been addressed. Car now has over 100k miles and I'm having a hard time justifying the expenditure. Also entire dashboard cover 'lifting' up more than six inches. Told by a repair shop that the only way to fix it is to take out the front windshield - another $500 to shell out. Also has noise of metal rubbing coming from rear, but cause cannot be pinpointed. Sounds like a large piece of something. Took everything out of the trunk to be sure there was nothing in there causing the sound, even took out the carpet and board covering the onstar machinery. Repair shop can't find the cause either. Shocks were replaced with the best available in early 2007. This car has one user, me, for the last six years. I have spent literally thousands in an effort to keep it in good shape, but one thing after another is happening.
1) first time driving, 2nd time car was parked. Neither time were the windows being used. 2) both times power regulator had to be replaced. There were no consequences, but could have been if children were in the back seat while driving or on a cold night. 3) old part is not available.
Window regulators are very prone to fail. Three have failed on my car, and one has been replaced twice. This is a very common problem on several gm cars. The window can fall open and will not close which could be dangerous in inclement weather. This is also expensive and a financial hardship on owners and should have been addressed some time ago.
Why hasn't there been a recall on the way the power window regulators have to be replaced, there is a defect in the mold that allows the cable to slip. It is very costly 450. 00 to repair and they go out often on all 4 windows, I experienced this today in a heavy rain storm, I went to the drive thru at the bank, could not get window up, had to drive in heavy stormy weather, this has to be a money maker for gm the part has defects.
The contact owns a 2002 Buick Lesabre. The rear driver side window fell into the door panel and the contact was unable to close the window. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair facility where the contact was informed that the window regulator would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately nine months later, the failure recurred on the front passenger window. The vehicle was taken back to the same independent repair facility where the window was repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 82,000.
Power window regulators not working. I have 3 windows to drop down, repaired one at dealer for $450, disconnected the other 2 and blocked them up. The 1st happened about 3 yrs ago, the 2nd happened about 1 yr. Ago and the 3rd this Aug 2009.
The contact owns a 2002 Buick Lesabre. While the contact was examining her vehicle, the rear driver's side window suddenly fell inside of the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the window regulator needed to be replaced. Prior to the failure, she replaced both windows twice for the same failure. The current mileage was 62,000 and failure mileage was 45,000.
The power windows on my 2002 Buick Lesabre keep breaking. Both back windows have failed and the driver's side window recently failed. A regulator in the power window fails and the window retracts/slams into the door permanantly. This is very startling when it happens on the road and nearly caused me to wreck the car.
Windows fall. Three of four windows so far fall into the door after the power window mechanism and be heard to snap inside the door.
The contact owns a 2002 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated the glass on the rear driver side window fell into the window mount without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed at a local repair facility where the contact was informed the failure was caused by a defective cable motor. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance, stating they had not received any similar complaints on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.
Right side passenger window regulator broke on 24jun09 and left side back passenger window regulator broke on 13jul09. Both windows fixed in up position at local repair shop. Repair for each window is over $400. Mechanics states that this is a known defect in this model and expect the other two window regulators to fail. Contacted gm/Buick and they said they have not had enough complaints to warrant a recall and fix of this problem. I feel this company should be held accountable for this defect. Part is made of metal and plastic (metal chain that goes over a plastic wheel). Researched internet for customer feedback on this problem and found many customer complaints about this mechanism.
I lowered the windows and when I went to raise the rear-passenger there was a "crack" noise and it would not go back up. The plastic part, at the top of the window regulator, had broken - causing the wire, which runs through the regulator, moving the window up and down, to just coil up inside the door panel. I went to a dealership to have them quote me the cost of repairing and was eventually told the repair would run me ~$700. I was told that the part alone was ~$400. I didn't have them fix it. . . Because I was expecting a ~$75 repair. . . Not ~$700! I taped up the window (which I hate being "that car") and decided to get another quote. At the time I was incredibly busy with work and didn't get around to it though. Roughly a month later the exact same thing happened to my front-passenger window. I now have both passenger side windows held up by tape. I cannot believe there is no recall for this. I have tried looking for a place to submit problems with cars to Buick directly, but have been told to only go to a dealership and tell them. . . . And I've already been to a dealership with this problem and no luck. I have taken my door panel off to try and fix myself and was very surprised that the problem was just that the top part of the regulator, which is basically just a track for the wire to run in as the window goes up and down, was cheap plastic. The rest of the regulator is steal, and the part that has all the tension from the wire running over it, is plastic. Ridiculous.
My driver's side rear window refused to roll up after rolling down. Upon examination by our mechanic, it was discovered that the window motor had ceased to function. The window itself had on another occasion failed but this time the motor needed replacing.
