37 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

The power windows have all failed, the regulator and motor assembly in its entirety is replaced. I think it's ridiculous that the failed part rather than the whole assembly is replaced.

38 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 11/26/2008

2001 Buick Lesabre with the problems of failing power regulators. Have had two die in less then a month. Front and rear drivers side. . . . Rear one hardly ever used, but was the first to fail.

39 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 10/16/2008

General motors 2002 Buick Lesabre window motors. I have had the car 5 years and I have replaced 2 window motors. Two were covered by warranty. Two I was forced to replace and now the last window that has not been replaced has failed. There is an obvious problem in the design.

40 Power Window problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 09/16/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Buick Lesabre. While driving at approximately 55 mph, the rear passenger window independently rolled downward. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair facility where the rear passenger window and regulator motor assembly were replaced. In addition, the mechanic advised that the regulator motor was defective and the failure would most likely recur in all of the other windows. The failure has since recurred on the drivers side rear window as well as the passenger side front window. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where both windows and regulator motor assemblies were replaced a second time. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage is 49,176. Updated 07/29/10 the consumer stated the failure occurred for a third time. Updated 08/05/jb.

41 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/20/2008

I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre with faulty power window motor. This will be the 2nd replacement for the passenger side window. Based on other website chat rooms this is not uncommon for this vehicle. Buick needs to recall the motor so that this can be fixed. My vehicle only has 42,000 miles on it and its in great condition however, as a safety issue the windows must be operational and function correctly.

42 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

The passenger side rear power window in my 2001 Buick Lesabre broke. After researching the problem, there seems to be a common problem with all Buick Lesabres from 2000 and 2001. This is the first, but I doubt it will be the last.

43 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/13/2008

A total of three power windows have failed on this vehicle, all by lowering the window, then failing to close. Repair bill on first two was refunded by GMC, evidently because the mileage was less than 60,000. Third window failed on 8/13/08, mileage 76,000. GMC declined request for assistance on this expense, $596. 69, because of "age of vehicle and mileage". From research on the internet, I understand the cause of these failures, mine and others, is a plastic pulley which breaks. The complete window regulator pkg. Is then replaced by the dealer, since they don't or can't replace just one piece of the mechanism. I can understand how this defect could cause an accident, due to the shock factor, by a window dropping open suddenly by itself at highway speeds.

44 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/08/2008

I own a 2001 Buick Lesabre. The window regulator just went out. I had it repaired at the dealership costing 450. I then did research online and found that this was a very common problem. Having to replace the regulator at 50,000 is ridiculous. It is a very expensive repair when I should expect to replace all 4 at 450 each for a total of 1800 dollars.

45 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/04/2008

2001 Buick Lesabre limited. Left rear power window regulator failed to return window to a closed position. Temperature outside the vehicle was 99 degrees f. Could not secure vehicle. This problem seems to be prevalent among this family of gm vehicles. Repair costs are exorbitant when the fault appears to be a small plastic bracket inside the window regulator. A simple repair kit is needed, rather than replacing the entire regulator. Vehicle has less than 60,000 miles on, and windows are not rolled down that often. Based on complaints I've seen on other web sites, I can expect to replace the other three regulators, with the cost approaching $2000 for all 4 regulator replacements.

46 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 07/25/2008

Rear window motors or mechanisms replaced 3 times a piece, front right 2 times, front left once, drivers side only one that works now.

47 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 07/23/2008

Window regulators fail in the power window mechanism. It has occurred in all four windows over the past year and a half. I had the driver's window repaired, the other 3 are non-functional. One of them (rear driver-side) is stuck in a position that is 1/4" from closed. The dealer service department told me that was the best they could do (besides duct taping it closed!). The repair costs $450 - $500 per window, which is ridiculously out of my budget.

48 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 07/17/2008

Power windows on 2001 Buick Lesabre keep failing. I go to roll a window down, I hear a "crunching" noise, and the window will not either go back up, or it goes halfway up and stops. I have replaced 3 windows to date on a car that only has 28,000 miles on it. It costs 400-600 to replace each window. I searched the internet and there have been a lot of complaints about the windows in the Lesabres. Gm needs to have a recall on this issue.

49 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 06/24/2008

Broken rear driver window regulator on 2002 Lesabre Buick. 72,000 miles. Lowering windows and window stopped working in down position. $400 to fix and 3-5 days.

50 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 05/25/2008

Buick Lesabre custom (2000). The driver's side rear window stopped working. Mechanic said it is the window regulator. Part cost about $250. 00. Assembly includes motor. Found out that this is a common and widespread problem with that this car. The years 2000 to 2005 on these models all have the same type of assembly. . Read more...

51 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 05/20/2008

I have a 2001 Buick lasabre that I have had to replace the window regulator in two windows and now the third window is broken. In July 2006 the passenger side front window quit working, and in April 2007 the right rear passenger window quit working. Each of these windows cost over $500 to repair. Now the rear driver side window is broken and I am assuming the driver side front window will break if I do not get rid of the car soon. I am going to get a new car, but you can bet it will not be a gm.

52 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

The back window of my 2000 Buick Lesabre stopped working . . . Couple weeks later the other back window stopped working. I then did research on the internet and many many individuals had the same problem. One month later the passenger window stopped working and a month after that the driver side stopped working. All of the faulty windows stopped working this year 2008. How can they all fail at the same time. To repair each window costs around $500 each or a total of $2000. . . 10% of the original cost of the Lesabre. From your web site " federal motor vehicle safety standards set minimum performance requirements for those parts of the vehicle that most affect its safe operation (brakes, tires, lighting) or that protect drivers and passengers from death or serious injury in the event of a crash (air bags, safety belts, child restraints, energy absorbing steering columns, motorcycle helmets)". Now if one needs to escape from the auto, especially a child, do to failure of the door opening the windows have now created a safety problem. Once again there have been many many individuals with this problem. . . Many that have not submitted a complaint. . . Even the auto technicians indicate this has accrued more then it should. Finally, I believe the faulty power windows are a safety problem and Buick should take responsibility for this faulty equipment.

53 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 04/24/2008

Failure of 3 windows on 2000 Buick Lesabre within 3 months.

54 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 04/22/2008

All four of the power window regulators failed. The cable on all four parts became worn and broken. The windows did not function properly afterwards. New parts were purchased and installed, but the replacement parts are identical to the ones that failed.

55 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 04/19/2008

Buick Lesabre cars all have faulty window regulators and they break soon after the warranty is out and the cost to repair is out of site, after you replace one the next window breaks and then the next, Buick needs to do a recall on these and fix everyone that breaks, the regulators are cheap made.

56 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 04/09/2008

Power window regulator failure.

57 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 04/01/2008

Driver side window will not go down. I am assuming the motor is defective.

58 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/30/2008

Without warning the back passenger window on 2000 Buick Lesabre has stuck about 4" open. After researching on-line there are numerous postings of the same problem detailing the plastic part that moves the window fails and a stamped 'void' at the breaking point of the plastic. These postings list multiple failures in the same car and differing ages of the parts including during warranty and after. I expect to pay $400 for the replacement of the defective part. Please research.

59 Power Window problem of the 2001 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/28/2008

Like dozens of others reporting on carsurvey. Org my 2001 (2000-2005) Buick le sabre power windows are defective. A plastic part breaks requiring replacement of the entire window regulator assembly including motor. Dealers charge $500 plus labor for each unit. I had a dealer replace the right rear window unit after the first time I used it. A loud crack upon activation and the window fell to the bottom of the door. Six months later I had to replace the left rear window unit. It took hours to remove and replace it with detailed instructions I found online (so many others had this problem one person documented what you need to know including diagrams). After market parts are available online also. So far they are holding up (2 years). Now my drivers door window has snapped but it did so while raising it the few inches it was open so it is closed and staying up for now. That makes three of the four windows. I'm sure the front passenger side will fail as well. Gm should have recalled 2999-2005 Buicks for these defective windows. You can easily find dozens of similar reported cases online. Otherwise this is a fine, economical, reliable car. Too bad the windows ruin the experience.

60 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/27/2008

Three of my windows on my 2002 Buick lasabre limited have all failed. The window has detached from the motor, it seems. Apparently this is a common problem with these cars, yet no recall to fix it is offered. I cannot open these windows because I would be driving around without being able to get them back up. The cost to fix this is about $200 - $400. Not only should I not have to pay to fix an obvious problem, but I do not have the money to do so. I am amazed that there is no recall for this.

61 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/23/2008

The power window on the rear passenger door popped and quit working. This is the second window that has failed and the car has 85,000 miles. The first failure happened under warranty. I use the rear windows very rarely because I am single and my child has his own car. There are just two of us and I use the window for ventilation once in a while. A third window is giving me problems with occasionally working or not so I am sure it will be the next to go. I have read extensive problems listed on the internet with this very some issue. Buick should not depend on plastic and a part with a poor history - they are above that!.

62 Power Window problem of the 2003 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/20/2008

Both electric windows on the passenger side of my car rolled down and then would not roll back up. After looking on the internet, I found this has happened to a lot of people with this car manufacturer.

63 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/20/2008

In Mar, 2008 the right front power window regulator failed and the window was stuck in the open position at 47,827 miles; I had the regulator replaced at a cost to me of $373. 00; then in October, 2008 the right rear window failed and was stuck in the open position, at 53,612 miles. Due to the cost of the regulator I had it sketched in the closed position which cost me $78. 53; then in Nov. 2008 the left rear window stuck in the open position at 54,054 miles. I also had it scotched shut at a cost to me of $75. 25. I am filing a complaint with general motors, Buick division today. This is an obvious defect and should be repaired and corrected by general motors/ Buick.

64 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/03/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Buick Lesabre. While stopped, the rear driver side window fell offtrack and the contact had to manually pull the window up. On the second occasion, the rear passenger side window fell offtrack when she drove over a railroad track. On the most recent failure, the contact cracked the passenger side window to get some air and the window did not go up. The door panel had to be removed in order to get the window back up. The dealer stated that they were aware of the defect and there have been other complaints. They issued TSB number 3483 regarding the same defect. The manufacturer stated that they would investigate the issue, and later stated that due to the age of the vehicle, they would not offer any free repairs. The cost of the repair is $500 per window for three windows. The failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 51,000. Updated 09/17/08. Updated 09/25/08.

65 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

Rear passenger window regulator failure. Replaced 2 times. Now failed again. Unable to control window. Won't roll up.

66 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 02/12/2008

2002 Buick lasabre custom regulators at both rear power windows malfunctioning. The cable that guides window up and down jumped the tracking and was chewed and twisted making it necessary to be replaced costing $400 at each occurrence.

67 Power Window problem of the 2002 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 02/02/2008

Power window failure on 2002 Buick Lesabre. I own a 2002 Buick Lesabre which I purchased new. I also purchased an extended service warranty from general motors when I purchased the vehicle in August, 2002. Just as the vehicle turned 2 years old, the power windows started failing one by one. To date I have replaced three of the window motors and one has now failed for the second time. It seems that gm should be very aware of this problem with defective window motors since I have been finding many complaints on the internet, and I have also spoken to other Buick owners. I am also being told that even though my car has less than 55000 miles on it my extended warranty expired in August 2007. (it ran concurrently with the bumper to bumper for three years). The cost of the window repair is approximately $600. 00 per window. The dealership has finally agreed to give the parts and I pay for repair, ($120. 00), which is still a lot of money for shoddy windows. I hope you are able to do something so that gm will give us a permanent free fix to this problem.

68 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/18/2008

I own a 2000 Buick Lesabre and within the past year and a half I've had to replace 3 window regulators and 1 window motor. Buick did pay for one regulator part (I paid for the labor) and is offering me $300 towards the others. I have spent out of my own pocket $1,186. 24 to have the windows repaired. I'm finding out this is a common problem in Buick Lesabres.

69 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/17/2008

I own a 2000 Buick Lesabre and in the last 9 months three of the four windows have stopped working. The only window that hasn't failed yet is the driver's.

70 Power Window problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 01/12/2008

Power window regulators failed in both rear windows within days of each other on a 2000 Buick Lesabre. In each instance the window glass dropped into the door and could not be raised. Very distracting to the driver when this happens unexpectedly. Apparently a very common problem with gm vehicles and very expensive to repair.
