Service Engine Light On Problems of Cadillac CTS

I just purchased this car in February 2019 and it went down in late April or early may of this year. The service engine light would come on for a few days then it would go off for a few days. The engine would rattle when first cranked and then it got to the point where it would constantly keep trying to crank but never would and now it is completely out. I had it towed to mechanic and was told that they had to put 5 quarts of oil in it but I had the oil changed a month before the car died. They say the oil is going somewhere but where? I was also told the timing chain had failed. When this happens it can cause the pistons and everything else to fail with the engine. It will cost me over $2000 to get repaired. This is ridiculous! something needs to be done about this. Cadilliac makes everything so expensive so I would not recommend getting one unless you can absolutely afford it and not be in debt behind it. I was in love with this car but this is horrible. This is my second time trying to get it repaired and now I'm done.

Service engine light came on at 93203 miles. Obd code p0008 timing chain problem. There's a special coverage adjustment (sca) #11340c on 2007-2009 Cadillac Cts vehicles for that known problem. I'm at the Cadillac dealer and my specific VIN doesn't fall under that sca. I called the Cadillac hq and they opened a case #71-1492554265 and told me to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The sca is 10yrs or 120k miles. It's a known problem which needs to be addressed. Thank you.

While driving I heard a loud noise from under the hood and the service engine soon light came on. Once able to stop I called onstar and asked them to give me a diagnostic. I was told that it was an engine error and to take in for service. I took the car to the dealer first thing the next morning. Was told my timing chain needed to be replaced. My car has less than 28,000 miles. Called gm/Cadillac was told that while there was a recall (#10287) for prematuring timing chain wear for certain 2009 Cts mine was not one of them.

The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. The service engine soon light illuminated and now the engine is running hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that antifreeze was leaking into the engine. The engine needed to be replaced at the cost of $7,000. The vehicle is currently parked and has not been repaired. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 73,076 and failure mileage was 70,000.
