Front Air Bag Problems of Cadillac Escalade

The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that the air bags suddenly deployed while she was driving 60 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who put the air bags back in place and replaced the instrument panel. The on star safety device indicated that the air bags needed to be checked for malfunctions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the air bags were defective. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 4,300.

Had a front end collision with another vehicle and none of my airbags deployed. The vehicle was 4 weeks old and had 1850 miles at the time of the accident. Called Cadillac customer service and was given an airbag history lesson via telephone from someone that had never seen my vehicle or inspected it for damage after the accident. At the end of our conversation I was told all was ok, none of my airbags should have deployed and not to worry about it. The entire front end of my vehicle was knocked off, the frame has multiple cracks and is bent as a result of the collision and the collision center is 90% certain the vehicle is not repairable.

Was exiting the hutchinson river pkwy, south in pelham, NY. Attempted to apply the brakes and the pedal went straight to the floor! I was unable to stop, hit another car in the rear and had to steer into a utility pole to avoid an active intersection.

The consumer requesting a tray to redirect air bag on passenger side. Tray is to illminate neck extension when it deploys. Dealer refused to add the feature, which was mentioned through a (recall id # 00-v-122-000 manufacturer recall id# 00044 fmvss 208 neck extension ) because it would make the vehicle look ugly. Please provide more information.
