1 Starter problem of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine shut off without warning. Despite the failure, the engine restarted immediately after the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions; however, the dealer failed to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted, and the contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact waited two months for parts since the parts were on backorder. After the engine was replaced, the contact stated that vehicle started to hesitate while depressing the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the starter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact requested a vehicle buyback which was denied. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

2 Starter problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

On July 28th 2011, my 2003 Cadillac Escalade awd would not start. It had power to the seats, horn, lights, but no power to the locks, windows or radio. Therefore, I knew I didn't need a battery jump. I check the inside fuse panel and no blown fuses were found. I went to the fuse box underneath the hood and discover the 40amp ignition-b fuse was blown. I installed another 40amp fuse and it immediately blew out. I disconnected the battery, installed another fuse and the fuse blew out when I reconnected the battery. I removed the starter, disconnected the alternator, crank sensor, oil level sensor and both ignition coil packs. The fuse still blew out when I reconnected the battery. I reconnected all items previously mentioned and went underneath dash-board on the driver's side and check all the wiring harnessing and wires. I went back to the fuse box under the hood, flipped the fuse box up to see the underside. Located the wire that's connecting to the blown fuse, trace wire underneath the dashboard to the harness near the steering shaft. The connecting wiring on the other side of the harness (red wire with a white strip) was shorted on an eighth inch metal bracket bolted to the firewall with four nuts. This same metal bracket is up against and possibly cutting into the wires attach to the wire harness next to the steering shaft. I applied eletrical tape to the wire that shorted on the metal bracket to repair the problem. I installed another fuse and the truck started up.

3 Starter problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 03/01/2004

There was intermittent stalling. The dealer was unable to resolve the problem when the consumer would have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The consumer felt that the vehicle was dangerous to drive. The consumer smelled wires burning, the check engine was on, the seal for the rear hatch leaked water, there was a long crank with the engine when warm, there was a winding noise coming from the driver's left front tire area due to a failed bearing which destroyed the entire front differential, the a/c was not cold due to a leak, water leaked in the trunk, the mirrors would not tilt in reverse, a positive cable was loose and a bolt was stripped, the starter would not engage after waiting for a short period of time and an abnormal noise would be heard when restarted.
