2015 Cadillac Srx with 87,397 has a failed electronic brake control module (ebcm) or abs module. It can be made available for inspection upon request. Alexander Cadillac of oxnard refuses to repair it stating a replacement part is no longer available (it can be repaired by a specialty repair company). They cite liability by using after market or repaired parts. Without a functioning ebcm - abs, power steering and traction control do not work which puts me and others at risk. Worse, the failed ebcm is now causing the car to go into "limp mode", which cuts power to the engine and prevent acceleration. When making a turn onto a street, it suddenly went into limp mode and I was almost hit by an approaching semi-truck. The problem was identified by alexander of oxnard service center - but they refuse to make any effort to remedy the problem. There are multiple blogs on the internet citing similar systemic issues with the ebcm that is no longer manufactured but can be repaired by a specialty shop. Lights on the dash first started to appear in September 2024. Lights include abs, brake and traction control / stability light. New lights started to appear in June 2025 including check engine, headlamp and auto-parking symbols. Alexander Cadillac of oxnard cites that the ebcm is drawing too much current and causing issues to other systems on the car - a cascading effect. I am very afraid to drive the car and fear that it will lose power when needed, stall or the brakes will lock up.

I had baker Cadillac dealership to perform the toe-link recall as well as a multi-point vehicle inspection on may 28, 2025. This is for a 2012 Cadillac Srx-3. 6 luxury collection [VIN: [xxx]] that I was going to purchase for my [xxx] daughter pending the inspection results. Because Cadillac technicians performed the inspection and nothing major was flagged, I purchased the car for my daughter. That evening, I was driving the car to fill up with gas, and the brakes completely cut out! I talked to a friend who knows more about cars than I do, told me the brakes cutting out was likely a result of the recall repair needing to reset to the proper values. I didn't think too much of it after that until 5 days ago when I was on [xxx] driving at 70 mph, the brakes completely cut out again. The road was wet and they cut out as I was exiting off an interstate overpass onto a ramp which circles back toward the direction I was coming from that ultimately feeds onto the road underneath the exit. I fishtailed side to side the entire length of that ramp that has no barriers at a lethal speed which could’ve killed me! if my daughter would've been driving, the outcome would’ve likely been fatal! I contacted the dealership who performed the recall installation and the multi point inspection and told them everything that happened. I wanted answers as to why this wasn't caught during inspection, what exactly caused that to happen twice in less than 10 days, and what needs to be fixed to prevent this from ever happening again. I paid firestone to perform a comprehensive test on abs and they could not replicate the issue, so they couldn't do anything to fix it as everything appeared to be fine. No system lights came on or anything. I have since learned that this is far from an isolated issue; in fact, this is quite a scary pattern with the 2012 Srx 3. 6. I am writing to formally raise a serious safety concern regarding my Cadillac Srx. For over a year, the abs warning light has remained on in the vehicle. After taking it to an authorized dealership for diagnostics and repair, I was informed that the required part to resolve this issue is on backorder and is no longer being manufactured. This is highly concerning given that the abs (anti-lock braking system) is a critical safety feature designed to prevent the wheels from locking up during braking, especially in emergencies. Driving without a functioning abs increases the risk of accidents, making the vehicle unsafe to operate under normal driving conditions. I would like to address the following points: 1. Why is a critical safety-related part no longer being manufactured for a vehicle still in operation? 2. What is the manufacturer's plan for resolving safety concerns such as this, especially when replacement parts are unavailable? 3. Am I entitled to any form of compensation, replacement, or buyback under warranty or consumer protection laws? 4. What steps are being taken to ensure other affected Cadillac Srx owners are notified and protected? given the severity of this issue, I have also filed a formal safety complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA). I am also researching whether there is an open class action lawsuit or grounds for legal action due to the manufacturer's failure to support critical components of this vehicle. Page 1 formal complaint regarding abs system on Cadillac Srx I respectfully request a written response to this matter with clear guidance on what steps will be taken to address this situation and ensure my safety and the reliability of the vehicle. Sincerely, [xxx] email: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
This vehicle has had an intermittent (for a few years) issue with all of the warning lights (abs, stabilitrak, parking brake, steering) coming on when starting. If you tried to drive it, you would have no power steering causing the vehicle difficult to handle. This would not happen every time it was started. We took the car to the local Cadillac dealership and were told nothing was wrong and it was just the system going through the electronic check system and to just not put it in gear until after the lights cleared. That actually did work sometimes. Recently, it came off and would never go off. We took it to a shop that does other work on other vehicles for me. He found that the electronic brake control module was bad. He tried to source a replacement one but found that it was discontinued with no alternate part. He did find a used one which we are waiting on to be delivered and then installed. My first concern is that if this happened when my wife was driving she could lose control of the vehicle causing an accident. My second concern is how can gm discontinue a known problem (I found multiple forums discussing this issue) part with no replacement. The vehicle is 10 years old with only 75k miles. I have read this has been an issue for quite a few years.
I’m sending in this complaint which is a common problem with the Cadillac Srx. The abs breaks go soft when activated. I have no breaks , the breaks go to the floor. This is so dangerous. Now I have to turn the car off and pump the breaks. This sometimes take a whole day to get the breaks back. Why isn’t this a recall??.

The abs control module in my car is inoperable. I have lights on for abs, brakes, and stabiltrac. Upon further investigation the abs module is no longer available and no aftermarket part available. This leaves my car useless being I no longer feel safe driving it. If I lock up brakes in an emergency, my car could go into an uncontrollable slide (being front wheel drive) especially on wet roads. This would hold true for all of this make and many year models therefore many unsafe vehicles on road without the abs braking control. I am at a loss. . . .
I am reporting ed morse Cadillac delray beach, for improperly handling a manufacturer recall service, which resulted in a new safety issue on my 2013 Cadillac Srx. On February 22nd 2025 I brought my vehicle in for the Cadillac rear tow link separation recall. After the dealership performed the repair, my abs system malfunctioned—an issue that never existed before. The dealership initially acknowledged the issue but later dismissed it and refused to acknowledge the issue. Worse, they encouraged me to leave and drive the vehicle despite the abs warning light being on, showing no concern for my safety. This is a serious safety concern, as my braking system was directly affected following a manufacturer recall service. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this dealership’s recall handling process and reconsider their status as an authorized recall service provider to protect future customers from similar issues.
Braking after hitting a pothole was a nightmare! no warning lights came on to prepare me for anything. Brake pedal went to the floor and would not work properly. Finally after getting my vehicle to stop I pulled over pumped my brakes and seemed to work after 5 tries. Toe link recall was “fixed” well not the case. After 2 recalls on the toe link I had a nice bill the cost me $1. 450. 00 after having to pay for this part. Still haven’t been reimbursed. Also headlights are very dim and can’t see at night!! I’ve asked multiple mechanic shops and no one has an answer for me. So have to use my high beams or else I can’t see anything at night . Very unsafe and no one can help me resolve this issue.
Put new brake pads on car still having same problem brakes work fine most of the time. Then every now and then brake pads goes to floor (squeezy)then next day back working fine this is going to cause a accident.
Just randomly if I have to brake the brakes go all the way to the floor. Sometimes have to pump the brakes to stop. Last couple of days when there’s rough road it feels like the brakes are on when accelerating and car begins to shake.
This is the 3rd time this happens in the life of our Cadillac Srx great vehicle it’s been in the family for years although the brake pedal goes out or not responsive in an event of going over a high speed bump or some what deep pothole on the roadway at a speed about 35mph very dangerous when the first time it happened we lost brake power this is a know fact about this vehicle. The vehicle is not being moved as of right now because of this issue still exists. Others have similar issues with this vehicle and to my friends at gm this is not cool can you help ??.
Vehicle lurches from 0-20mph since purchase of vehicle from greenbelt caddillac. Vehicle only serviced there until no longer in business. Shifter linkage cable issue assumed. Parking brake disengages prior to switch depress. In automatic mode, when switched to manual, shifter does not highlight that it is engaged in shifter box. Dashboard shows change in transmission function. Camshaft position sensor bank 1 code returned around 100-120k+ miles after 2 flat tires and suspension serviced by caliber collision. Onstar taking control of vehicle suspected of causing timing belt to skip timing supported by Chevrolet ourisman of bowie. Paid $800-1000 to ourisman for service and diagnostic. Ourisman suggested engine needed to be opened to fully inspect or replaced for $6-8000. A piece of the sensor was claimed to have broken off and fallen into lower engine manifold. Vehicle would rev when stopped and putter to halt. Vehicle would start and stick in second gear up to 40mph until stopping and refusing to start. Engine replacement evaluation reconfirmed by foreign auto parts of annapolis, MD after explanation. Chevrolet of silver spring attempted to buy car for $100 after suspect inspection. Declined. 3 new sensors were changed manually though did not turn off the check engine light, still returning bank 1 camshaft sensor. Eventually vehicle towed to mz auto repair 9500 allentown rd, fort washington. Engine swapped, battery changed and check engine light cleared. Vehicle ran for 2000-3000 miles until check engine light returned with same code bank 1 camshaft position sensor. Vehicle presumed tampered with during lifetime of use however original lurch during engagement of powertrain implicates feigned manufacturer defect or original Cadillac of greenbelt.
After braking hard, skidding or going over a hard bump, brakes go to the floor and do not recover. This has ongoing since I purchased the car in 2012.
Case #: [xxx] ] I have a 2016 Cadillac Srx (VIN: [xxx] ) that I have owned for 8 years. Throughout this period, I have encountered some minor issues that were easily remedied. On [xxx], I started my car and some warning light came on. •the abs light •the power steering light •the anti-skid traction light I contacted scranton motors in vernon, CT and was told I had a faulty brake module: part number 20842710. Furthermore, I was told that this part number has been discontinued and no longer available. I contacted Cadillac customer care and spoke to customer service rep alegra 866-790-5600 at extension 5918222 and she gave me a list of suppliers who may have this part. Again, I was told that this part was discontinued. The parts department had to go to the aftermarket to see if they could locate this part. It was found on ebay. I was told that the part could be installed but there is no guarantee that it would work. I was left with no choice but to have the part installed knowing that I would be driving an unsafe vehicle that could malfunction at any time. As stated earlier this vehicle is about 8 years and what I do not understand is why Cadillac would stop production on such a critical part that could cause physical harm to its passengers. In doing some investigating I found the Cadillac forum in which other owners experience the same problem. I have owned 4 Cadillacs over the last 9 years and for the most part I have been very happy with their performance. It appears to me that Cadillac should take some responsibility and compensate me for not producing a safe vehicle to drive. The trade in value according to kelley blue. Book is $14,000 and therefore, I should be reimbursed accordingly on December 12, 2024, I received a phone call from scranton motors advising me that the part that they had received from ebay did not work. Therefore, I cannot operate this vehicle and it is totally useless. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving the pedal will go all the way to the floor and suddenly your break line will be full of air. The car's hard to stop. This is the second time it's happened. Really scary, almost in an accident.
There have been many times where while driving that the breaks don’t work properly, you can push the break all the way down and it still work stop.
Breaks went to the floor and had to pump them to stop the car. After that they worked normally. This has happened twice now.
My headlights are so dim, I have to drive with high beams. It is raining in my, short circuited the trunk, will not open and my bearings have to be replaced. Sounds like a truck. Ughhhh, imy first and last american made car.
My 2011 Srx has lost brake power 4 times in the past 2 years. I reported to gm as other owners had this complaint. I hit the brakes at low speed when going into a parking lot incline and lose my brake power. The brakes go to the floor and eventually the car stops. Thankfully no other car was near me as the car is hard to stop. I also slammed on my brakes around 25-30 mph as another car was coming head on in my lane. Once the collision was avoided I tried to stop at a red light. Again the brakes went to the floor without stopping the vehicle immediately. My auto mechanic test drove it everywhere to see if he could reproduce the issue, but could not . I contacted gm and they told me to take it to a dealership which I did. They could not find anything but bled the brake lines hoping this was the issue. It was not. I went over an inclined manhole on a side street going about 5-10 miles and afterwards the brakes were very soft. I read in the Srx Cadillac forum that others that had the same issue said to try and pump the brakes. I did this and the brake power re- engaged. This is a scary safety issue as I am always wondering if my brakes will stop the car. I only have 80000 miles on this car and keep routine maintenance. I also have an issue with the condensation of the headlights that dims the lighting on the headlights. I had received a letter ( court settlement claim) stating if I had an issue to bring it to a dealership and they would look at it. If it did have this issue the headlight company would pay for some repair. I didn’t go since my headlight issue didn’t start until later . When I contacted the dealership I was told that offer expired along with gm confirming this. It is extremely frustrating and scary to know other owners have the same complaints and gm doesn’t do any safety recalls. These 2 issues are a big safety issue and I pray it never causes an accident.
Brakes just randomly go out and pedal becomes spongy. Then, the brakes start working again. The brakes become almost intermittent. I have seen that this is a common problem with this vehicle. My family was almost seriously injured due to not having brakes to stop the car, especially at 70 mph. I have had it at the dealer and have changed everything possible to correct the problem. Brake system has been inspected by gm certified mechanic. No warning was ever evident when problem occurred.
The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle out of the parking garage, the abs warning light illuminated, the steering wheel became stiff, and the vehicle was difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who stated that the manufacturer no longer manufactured the part needed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed the information. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
My 2015 Cadillac Srx4 developed an issue with the electronic brake control module which produced the following dash light warnings, park brake, stabili track and power steering alert. I took it to thompson pontiac Cadillac in springfield mo. I was notified that the ecbm module was discontinued and they bought a remanufactured part from ebay. They informed me that the part did not fix all of the issues. I still have a power steering drive with care alert still illuminated. The dealership offered no other options for fixing the problem. I believe this is a very common problem with the Cadillac Srx. I believe that both of these issues should be considered a safety issue. My phone number is 417-830-8124 and my email address is lockebetty52@gmail. Com. Thank you.
The brake light, the abs light and the stability control light came in my vehicle and gm says that the ebcm needs to be replaced this should be a recall because a lot of cars are having this issue and they don’t have the parts available, is been more than a year I’m driving like that.
My abs break module light stayes on - Cadillac stop making the part for the 2015 Srx. This is a safety concern and also reduce the trade in value.
The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, and attempting to stop at a stop sign, the brake pedal went all the way to the floorboard. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired at the local dealer; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
Brake, abs, and traction message came on at the same time. Ebcm 20842710 is the part number. Been at big star Cadillac in houston, texas a month with no explanation except waiting on gm for parts but the dealership can’t tell me anything and I am ready to call the news station about this situation. They can’t get me in another vehicle unless it’s new with a hefty down payment that I don’t have. I have dialysis 3 times a week and now I have to use my wife’s car, now she can’t get to work. What are we supposed to do??? how much longer do I have to wait? they can’t answer that either. This is the usaand can’t get a simple part. No one seem to care either. Very distraught and unhappy. I need help and I need it now!!!.
After hitting a small pot hole, the car would not come to a full stop…pushing n pumping the the brakes to the floor. This is the 3 time in the past 3 months this has happened. I have new brakes n new tires, why is this happening? it’s very scary, almost got in an accident for the brakes would not engage after hitting the pot hole at no more than 35 mph. C. S corso.

The car needs an ebcm or ebtcm depending on which. Dealer I'm talking to. The stability control service and power steering are turned off and the anti-lock brakes are disabled. I have been to two dealerships and the part is on nationwide backorder and is not being manufactured. One dealer has 15 clients waiting for the part the other 14 they are not taking new orders. I was told my best bet was to trade the car in. The car is unsafe to drive. I think all 2010 to 2016 Srx's should be taken off the road, they are a danger to themselves and others.
The service stabilitrak system light came on. After consulting the service manual, the suggestion was to switch the car off and restart in a few seconds. That worked for a few weeks. After that the service stabilitrak light, the brake light and the parking brake light has remained lit. We have not been able to get an appointment yet to get this checked out because the dealership cannot guarantee that they can look at it the same day we bring it in. They need a week. We can't afford a rental car for a week.
The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated while driving 15 mph and depressing the brake pedal to come into a complete stop, she hit a bump, and the brakes made an abnormal grinding sound and went all the way to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that there was a stopping distance delay, which caused the vehicle to stop after the stop sign. The contact stated that she pumped the brakes and was able to continue driving. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 5 mph from a complete stop, the vehicle in front of her stopped abruptly. The contact stated that the vehicle hit a bump while she quickly depressed the brake pedal, and the failure recurred, causing the vehicle to rear-end the other vehicle. The contact stated that it was a fender-bender. There were no injuries sustained. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving 45 mph; however, the roadway was not bumpy. The vehicle was taken to the car dealer it was purchased from, and the dealer performed the brakes inspection; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the brake pads and rotors were replaced, and the brake calipers were inspected; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
