The vehicle was a 2007 Ford F-350. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1FTWW31P97_. The very expensive rims have a large crack in at least one. I took it to the dealership, but of course they are no longer under warranty. I called the Ford customer care unit and they are unable to do anything. When I asked to speak to someone about investigating this as a safety issue, I was told there was no one I could talk to. Many other Ford owners are reporting the same issue and getting the response that there are no recalls and nothing pending. I really feel this is a manufacturing defect with so many occurring and feel it needs to be investigated before someone is killed. I discovered my rim failure right after I returned from a trip to colorado, hauling my camper. If it had failed during this trip I feel certain my son and I would now be dead. Please help us in getting Ford to look into this further. Everyone who has gone to a dealer or called Ford is being told they haven't heard of an issue and this is just not true. The vehicle was a 2005 Acura Tl. Crash happened when the problem occurred. Driver swerved to avoid car tryin g to merge into same lane. Front and rear left tires hit the median curb ( aprrox 6" max hieght). The rims are the standard five spoke mags that come on 2005 Acura Tl. Immediatley after hitting the curb - at a very oblique angle - the rim broke. The spokes of the front rim broke loose form the part of the rim that forms the inside of the tire. All 5 spokes broke in the same place. The sppkes and center of the rim stayed bolted to the lugs. The tire and the rest of the rim came losse from the car and passed ahead of the car. When the front tire broke free from the car several things happened. The car settled down on the spokes of the mag rim, this impact set off the driver side airbags and cracked the brake caliper on the front left. Braking was not effective at this point. The car eventually came to a stop in the right hand lane of road. The car was taken to the Acura dealership ( on a flatbed truck). The woman at the dealership told us that they wanted the car taken to their collsion center so that digital pictures could be taken and forwarded to Acura. Several days later Acura replied that a rim failure like that was normal for hitting the curb and that they were not responsible. This wheel rim problem happened on 01/27/2005.

in this order. . . I know a few things are missing. Clutch master cylinder failure - couldn't get the car back in gear. Pulls to the right all the time even though it is in "perfect alignment" according to dealer. Terribly uneven tire wear even with 3k mile tire rotations. 2 inside sidewall blow outs. 1 tread separation blowout
2 idler pulley failures. Windshield wiper motor failure. Windshield washer pump failure. Sunroof motor and switch failure. Bent rim. Air conditioning wire short which resulted in ac clutch failure just after 60,000 (of course)
ac clutch failure results in constant bearing squealing. Aluminum clutch pedal cover fell off and they wouldn't replace it. Rear hatch release works about half the time. I know there's more, I just can't recall all of it right off. It was May. 19, 2009 when this wheel rim issue occurred.

The VIN of this vehicle is JNKBF01A12_. I own a 2002 Infiniti Q45, which was purchased new. Since taking delivery of the vehicle on August 8, 2002, I have repeatedly complained of vibration and vibration related issues, but the dealership was never able to correct the problem. On my latest visit, during the 22500-mile service, the dealership informed me that all four of my factory wheels were bent. The technician at the dealership said that they see this regularly and that it is caused by imperfections in the road surfacepotholes, brick roads, uneven pavement, etc. I explained that I have not hit any potholes or uneven pavement and the brick roads that I have driven on are in good condition, but the dealership refuses to repair or replace my wheels. Being that the dealerships technician told me this is a common problem with my car, I believe that the factory Infiniti 18 wheels are made of an aluminum alloy, which is too soft and bends too easily under normal road conditions. Furthermore, Infiniti owners may be unaware that their wheels are bent and unsafe and continue to drive on them. The failure date was Friday, Aug. 1, 2003.

Our 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited has stock wheels and rims, in fact it has the smallest stock wheels and rims offered by the manufacturer. We have not "upsized" our wheels and rims with aftermarket products. The metal "strap" (that's what they call it at the dealer) on the tailgate that keeps it from swinging wide open broke, and when it broke it swung open and broke the tail light lens and housing. The dealer replaced it under warranty, and within a week it broke a second time. The dealer replaced it a second time. Again, within a week, it broke for a third time. It was replaced under warranty again. This was just yesterday. The dealer says it replaces these all the time, at least one a week. This is a faulty part that should be recalled. I have looked on Jeep Wrangler forums and lots of people have this problem, and lots of people have it happen multiple times. This wheel rim problem happened on Fri., Oct. 4, 2013.

Purchased a used 2004 Jeep Wrangler rubicon with 11000 miles on the odometer, after driving the vehicle for several months I noticed that the odometer seamed to be reading slow, so I had the odometer checked by a state trooper and found out that at 45 mph I was only moving at 40 mph. With further investigation I found that the tires and rims are not the right size for the vehicle. The tires that where on the Jeep when I purchased it are p225/75r15, the manufacturer recommends lt245/75r16, is this vehicle safe to drive?
the dealership where I purchased the Jeep from refuses to make it right. Would the 11000 miles on the odometer be right or could it be more?. This issue happened on Feb. 22, 2005.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 3LNHM26146_. 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. Consumer writes in regards to defective wheel rims. The consumer stated for the last year-and-a-half, he has been losing air in at least one of his tires. Approximately six months ago, he noticed he had been losing air in three tires. An independent dealer inform him that the loss of air was due to corrosion and chrome flaking off the wheel rim. He recommended that the consumer replace all four of the wheels rims. Because of the high cost of the wheel rims, the consumer decided to monitor the air loss and add air as needed. Over the last few months, in three tires, he began losing between 10-20 pounds of air over a four or five day period. The other tire maintained air pressure. The manufacturer agreed to replace two of the rims. This wheel rim problem happened on 11/01/12.

The VIN of the car is 4F2CZ96145_. Vehicle: 2005 Mazda Tribute all wheel drive with 36,937 miles - equipped with 16 inch alloy wheels. Problem: two of the four wheel rims are cracking at the lug nut holes (right side of the vehicle), the left side wheels have yet to be inspected. When a routine tire rotation was performed, the wheels were reinstalled and torqued (using a click type torque wrench) to the manufacturers specification of 100 ft/lbs. As torque was applied, the lug nuts felt as though they were stripped, and some lug nuts actually pulled themselves further into the rim than the others as tightening occurred. Subsequent removal of the right side wheels revealed deformed lug nuts, and cracks on both rims at the lug nut holes, from 1/4 long, described by the examining technician as making the vehicle unsafe. The wheels on the left side of the vehicle have yet to be inspected. Mazda USA notified, they will tow the vehicle to a Mazda dealer for an evaluation. I have written a letter to Mazda USA outlining the problem in more detail, copy will be sent to NHTSA/odi under separate cover. Updated 05/06/10. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WDDDJ77X78_. A cast aluminum wheel on my 2008 Mercedes Benz Cls63 amg cracked due to a casting defect. In the inside lip of the rim of the wheel at the outer diameter is a void, or hole, that was created by a an air bubble that was entrained in the molten metal but could not escape the mold before the metal solidified. This void makes the radius of the wheel at that point weak and susceptible to cracking under normal operating conditions. I am entering this complaint regarding the casting defect in order to present information that proves mercedes-benz must replace one wheel on my vehicle. The USA consumer action handbook contacting NHTSA is suggested. The handbook made one thing clear, NHTSA law states, if a safety-related defect exists, the maker must fix it at no cost to you, even if your warranty has expired. To be fair, I am only asking mercedes-benz reimburse me for the unsafe wheel with a refurbished one costing $450, rather than a new one costing $1200. Have further substantiation that mercedes-benz wheels are prone to cracking: a study of NHTSA complaints from 2000 through 2011 reveals that for manufacturing defects in wheels: Audi had 1 complaint, Cadillac had 2, BMW had 14, including a recall campaign for defective wheels (00v383000) mercedes-benz had 47. Mb replaced a number of these wheels that were out of warranty as described in NHTSA complaints. As defined in the USA consumer action handbook this comprises a warranty, therefore my wheel is covered also. Mb has a 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty on wheels. Wheels are not covered under the basic bumper -to- bumper warranty as are by Audi, BMW, gm, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. In light of all of this evidence, and the law, please have mb reimburse me $450. (mercedes-benz customer support, 3 mercedes-benz drive, montvale, NJ, 07645). The car is a 2008 Mercedes Benz Cl63. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was WDDDJ77X78_. Ref: complaint 10549686 I am entering a second complaint regarding casting defects in order to simplify it and to present information that proves mercedes-benz must replace one wheel on my vehicle. According to the USA consumer action handbook contacting NHTSA is suggested. The handbook made on thing clear, ?if a safety-related defect exists, the maker must fix it at no cost to you ? even if your warranty has expired. P. 10? I now know that two of the wheels have the defect, but only one is cracked. The crack runs down the middle of the defect. It initiated at the location of the defect and continues to grow by means of fatigue (repetitive loading and unloading). The are no indications that an impact initiated the crack. To be fair, I am only asking mercedes-benz replace the unsafe wheel with a refurbished used one costing $450, rather than a new one costing $1200. A study of NHTSA complaints from 2000 through 2011 reveals that for manufacturing defects in wheels: Audi had 1 complaint Cadillac had 2 BMW had 14, including a recall campaign for defective wheels (00v383000) mercedes-benz had 47 mb replaced a number of these wheels that were out of warranty. As defined in the USA consumer action handbook this comprises a ?secret? warranty, therefore my wheel is covered also. Mb has a 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty on wheels. Wheels are not covered under the basic bumper ? to ? bumper warranty as are by Audi, BMW, gm, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and hundai. The wheels were inspected by a mb dealer service manager ?[xxx] of grand blanc motor cars (810-695-4400). He agreed that two wheels had defects in them and one was cracked. The car involved is a 2007 Toyota Rav4. The VIN of this vehicle was JTMBK33V07_. Failure # 1 one of the steel rims on my rav 4 developed a crack causing a sudden loss of pressure. I had the rim replaced with a new one. Since then I have had to replace 2 additional rims with the same (broken weld) symptoms, one with a break over 21" long. Toyota has failed to address this issue of unintended consequences. Failure # 2 the air bag sensing light came on in my rav 4 so I had it checked out at my local dealer. I was told not to worry about it. I'm an emt and I have a tendency to worry about "life safety" issues. I took it to another dealer and was told that there might be unintended consequences and that I should have it fixed. It turned out the "spiral cable" in the steering column was faulty and needed to be replaced. It's important to know that an air bag works when it should and doesn't work when it should not. Volkswagen Passat 4 motion. Purchased to use in sometimes snowy upstate new york. Wheels rims fill with ice and mud and throw tire balance off. This causes excessive vibration while driving. This happened repeatedly for two winters. Both vw dealer and independent tire shop confirm a design flaw in the wheel/rim alllow for the buildup. The tires have to be taken off and the buildup removed. Volkswagon customer support contacted for two years but no acknowledgment that they have a problem or will do anything. It was Mar. 23, 2004 when this wheel rim issue occurred.

I would like to bring to your attention a very serious and dangerous issue I am having with my 2004 Audi A6 2. 7t s line. The issue is the 18 inch rims and tires delivered with the car. After approximately 10,000 miles, I noticed while traveling at 35 miles per hour the car shakes, vibrates and drives rough. In addition, I experienced 3 tire failures including 1 blow-out while driving at 45mph on a local highway (luckily, I did not lose control of the vehicle). I have now been in contact with 4 new york city metropolitan area Audi dealers and the head engineer of the tire manufacturer in the united states, continental tire company, supplying original equipment tires for the A6 2. 7t s line. All the dealers and the tire manufacturer have indicated there is a major problem with these 18 inch rims in the northeast area. Specifically, 60-70% of the tires fitted on these 18 inch rims are typically damaged and returned to the tire manufacturer and the majority of these 18 inch rims (equipped on the A6 2. 7t) typically become bent because they can not withstand winter road conditions (I. E. , potholes caused from the cold weather and snow) in the northeast united states. They all indicated these 18 inch rims should have not been delivered with the A6 2. 7t in the northeast united states market. Instead, they suggested I change to 16 inch rims as was the case in earlier year A6 2. 7t models (2000-2002), when the A6 2. 7t came with 16 inch rims as standard equipment. I have been in contact with Audi in germany and the u. S. They refuse to help in any way. This issue poses a serious threat to the public as tires on these rims in the northeast united states are susceptible to blow outs, which could cause major traffic accidents and associated fatalities and/or injuries. To protect the public's welfare and safety, I believe the NHTSA should force Audi to recall the vehicles with these 18 inch rims and replace them with safe equipment (I. E. , 16" rims and tires). This problem occurred on Saturday, April 23, 2005.

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Audi A6. While driving on a gravel road, the gravel was lodged into the rims. The contact washed the vehicle; however, the gravel remained in the rims. The dealer stated that power washing the rims would remove the gravel or manually wash them by hand. The manufacturer stated that this will not occur if the contact is driving on a paved road. The current and failure mileage were 30,000. It was Wednesday, April 18, 2007 when this wheel rim issue occurred.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1G4HD57277_. I wish to file a complaint regarding the flaking of the chrome rims on our 2007 Buick Lucerne cxl. I think it is a safety issue since the tire pressure drops. When I purchased the tires in may, 2013, at flynn tire in pittsburgh, it was pointed out that the chrome clad finish was coming off the rims, and they even had trouble balancing the new tires. My tire pressure drops so I have to put air in the tires every 3 to 4 days. We have only owned the car since January, 2012. It was purchased at colussey Chevrolet in bridgeville. It was a certified vehicle so I feel they should have checked it out and realized the wheels were starting to flake. I spoke to gm rep. At 1-866-790-5700, ext. 21733 in August, 2013, and was assigned gm file no. 71-1235298454. She spoke to the service mgr. At colussey, and he was going to give me refurbished wheels for my car at an approximate cost $300 a wheel. He said through gm they would cost about $480. I have called numerous times and left messages, and no one has called back to get this resolved. I know I am not alone, because online there are a number of gm owners with the same problem on gm vehicles and GMC trucks. I believe it is a gm defect issue and I shouldn't be expected to pay $300 a wheel. I understand they were replaced at no charge on cadillacs. This is not our first Buick. I've owned gm's since 1976. I've had similar wheels on several of the vehicles and never had a problem even though the cars had higher miles and were older. It was 05/01/2013 when this wheel rim issue occurred.
