On 12-10 I reported lights on transfer case display flickered. Advised needed updated transfer case switch. Was advised ok to drive vehicle. On January 7 dialed selector to 4wd because of snowy weather to get out of my driveway. Started up driveway--fishtailed. 4 wd would not engage. Dealer advised, returned vehicle to dealer evening of January 7. Advised today, new part unavailable. Transferring from demo model in stock. How can a situation like this exist? especially with no notification or recall?.

On this occasion we had a heavy snow that day and as I was driving on the road I switched to 4 wheel drive. As I turned the corner, thinking I was in 4 wheel drive my car went out of control when it hit ice and I hit boulders and landed on a tree. Earlier when we purchased the car we noticed a light kept coming on that said 4wd. We called to have it looked at but were told it was nothing to worry about. My husband called gm and complained about the malfunction. After my car was taken to the dealership gm reps came out to see it and agreed there had been a malfunction in the 4wd system. They claim to have fixed it but my car has never been the same. I hurt my neck but since I don't have health insurance never did go to the doctor. They reimbursed us $600 for the repair. My problem is worrying that there are other vehicles out there that could have the same problem. If mine did why can't there be others? next time someone could get killed. I was lucky. Gm was hard to deal with and I will never buy one of their products again. I hate my car but can't afford to get out of it. I would have liked to sue them for my injuries but they really will only listen to you if your are dead! please check into this because gm won't call you and tell you of the problem with the 4wd. You need to get the exact details of the accident and why this failed. Thank you.

When in 4- wheel drive mode, I turned into a drive to change direction of travel. As I backed out of the drive, the engine bogged down ands almost stalled. As I fed more gas, the engine still labored and I could feel a binding in the drive train and the steering. Not until the wheel was straightened was I able to feel the normal response and power of the vehicle. During this period of binding, it is extremely hard to steer and move the vehicle. The dealer analysis is that this is normal. It happens on dry, wet, snow and ice conditions. It should also be noted that the wheels are not on the stops when this occurs.
While driving or at a stop the vehicle will kick itself into four wheel drive. When it does that vehicle is very hard to control. Contacted dealer, and dealer can't find what is wrong with vehicle.

I chose a chevy Blazer because I know that chevy is known for the quality of their trucks. Unfortunately I couldn't be any more disappointed with my purchase and also with my dealer. Ever since I owned my 1996 chevy Blazer I've had problems with it and the dealership has continued to take advantage as me as a customer. I can't believe how unprofessional a dealership can be and also how a new vehicle can be so unreliable. The 4th day I had this truck 4 -wheel drive went out, I took it to william Chevrolet and they took 2 weeks to fix it, not only that, but they told me to rent a car knowing that I was under 25, instead of lending me a replacement car. In last 3 years the brakes have gone out on me 8 times, and the dealership wouldn't once cover it. My wiper motor went out just before the wiper piece recall went out, I paid for them to fix it, and give me a new motor. But then, when I went to the dealership with the recall they wouldn't reimburse me for the motor just the piece. I don't understand if that piece caused my wiper motor to go out that why do I have to pay for it? my heater is now not working to it's fullest and it's the middle of winter. We just got 21 inches of snow and my 4 wheel drive is not working again. I was unaware that my 4 wheel drive was not working 2 days ago, I turned onto indianapolis blvd, and my Blazer did a 360 in the middle of a busy intersection, almost causing a 4 car accident. After that I checked to see if my front wheel were moving, and ofcourse they weren't, therefore I only have rear wheel drive on a $25,000 4x4. The last 2 days have been hell, first I could not get my truck out of its parking spot after I'd shoveled for an hour, after I finally got it out, it got stuck in the snow about 7 times, while 1989 escorts are driving around effortlessly. It's so ridiculous, I have to be afraid to take my truck around the block because it gets stuck in an inch of snow. I'm sitting here now because my vehicle can't get me to work.
