- the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet trail Blazer lp. The contact stated that transmission coolant lines design was flawed. The the coolant lines were close to the exhaust pipe manifold, and they heated up and cause damage to the coolant lines. The contact stated that this was very costly, and should be a safety recall. The current and failure mileage were both 69048.

Oil cooler lines were rubbing on wiring harness in left front wheel well. The rubbing caused a hole in the oil lines resulting in loss of oil pressure and oil. After getting this fixed I was told this was a common problem with this model. After inspecting the repairs I noticed a new assembly seperating the lines which will correct the problem. I am extremley dissatisfied that I had to cover the repairs, I personally feel that this is a safety defect. If it would have blown out at highway speed it would have covered the driver side tires with oil and make the vehicle uncontollable.
Have a 99 Blazer,2 wd. The recliner handle broke off the first week I owned it( my kid broke it by simply touching it!) vehicle had 32000 mi at the time. Have not fixed it because of cost. Since then I have discovered an oil leak on the oil line cooler,a $300 fix(to repair both lines),and to top things off I'm being told that the intake gasket has the potential of giving way. I have 58000mi on this vehicle so far. Have been told that the s-10 Blazer are notorious for these problems, and so far g. M. Has no recall on any of it. Incendently a mechanic I know has a s-10 Blazer similar to mine, his oil lines leaked, and finally blew, costing him a new engine. Mine haven't blown -----yet. I can still drive it, but it worries me. I've been a g. M. Fan for many yrs. But this crazy Blazer is starting to make me reconsider what my next vehicle will be. Can anything be done about this????? thanks.
Consumer was at a stop light rear tires started spinning as he pulled off. As consumer went up the bridge he looked though rearview mirror and saw white smoke coming from rear. Vehicle pulled over and consumer lifted hood up and noticed that engine was on fire. Dealership was aware of problem. *akthe nylon retainer ring that locks the transmission oil cooler line into the radiator failed, it broke and slid down the cooler line allowing the oil cooler line to disconnect spraying the engine with transmission fluid which caught fire. Nlm.

No warning on transmission---could result in fire -- silent recall on transmission coolant line on larger Blazer models---suspect same supplier.
I discovered a leak from the truck and noticed the rear hatch of the truck was covered by an oily substance, when I parked the car my garage filled with smoke. I brought the car to the service station I always use for my Blazer (not the dealer). As soon as they looked at the Blazer they said I was very lucky I didn't have a fire, it was transmission fluid that leaked from a defective transmission fluid line. The connector from the transmission to the transmission line was defective. Since the Blazer is 1700 miles over warranty, chevy would not give me any satisfaction. The service station said the Blazer was not drivable and very dangerous. I have had the Blazer repaired and for a simple connector (because of where the connection is) is was $237. 00 to repair.
While taking off from a stop bolts that hold transmission cooling unit and lines compartment broke, causing transmission hose to bust and fluid to leak everywhere. Blazer was towed to the dealership for repairs. Please provide any further information.
Transmission cooling line melted from heat that came from the exhaust system, causing fluid to leak onto the exhaust pipe which could lead to a fire. Dealer/manufacturer notified, and informed consumerthat they are aware of this problem, but have no solution. Can NHTSA help or provide addtional information at this time.
At 12300 miles consumer noticed fluid leaking from vehicle, dealer replaced transmission cooling lines that had been leaking. On 3 Sep 2001, consumer noticed another leak. Dealer again replaced leaking transmission cooling lines.
The first problem is that our car was not fully painted, you can see that primer in large areas all over that body of the car. Second problem is the back cargo door will not lock. Third problem is the electronic sets on driver and on passenger side will not move and are stuck in the same position, also seat warmers do not work. The fifth problem is that the transmission is leaking fluid.
