Applied brakes & pedal suddenly started sinking to the floor. Was able to stop due to slow speed. Scared me to death & nearly hit a car. If happened on freeway it could have killed someone. Later found that a rear driver side steel brake line mounted metal on metal, hard to find behind wheel well & on frame, had rusted through. All others near it are also in equally bad condition. No moving part to wear out & there's no excuse for such cheapness on such a safety related item.

After replacing brake pads on vehicle I was pumping brakes to bleed out air in the lines and the pedal went to the floor. Upon inspection the brake line ruptured due to excessive corrosion. Required 100% replacement of all brake lines.
While driving my 1997 chevy Blazer, I was turning to the left off the highway at 60mph. I applied my brakes which started my deceleration, suddenly the brake pedal went the floor. I pumped the brake pedal one more time with no resistance. I had to apply the parking brake and started making large s-turns to burn off the speed and manually downshifting the transmission. After I finally stopped the vehicle I checked the brake lines and found out that the front driver's side metal brake line had rusted through and was spraying brake fluid all over the place. This is the second time in 3 months that the brake lines have burst on this 1997 chevy Blazer. The last time the rear main brake line burst.

Left rear oem metallic brake line corroded on a 1997 chevy Blazer resulting in loss of braking power. Line was not damage, just leaks out of pipe every time you push the brake pedal. Line is attached to frame above left rear wheel axle. Upon inspection it looks rusted out.
Steel brake lines from abs module to brakes corroding or rusting through.
On a routine oil change on my 1999 chevy Blazer, my mechanic pointed out that the brake lines were corroded, and he was concerned that I would lose the brakes while driving. He test drove the car, and the brakes gave out. He was not driving fast and told me that if I kept that car the brake lines would have to be replaced. Was there a recall? fox news told about a possible recall on April 9, 2010.
Noticed brake fluid on floor of my garage. Found that the brake line to the rear brakes was rusted and leaking. Gm dealer said it was out of warranty so I paid a local garage to install new brake line. It has failed again, 98,000, while I was driving. Lost braking ability. I find that gm will sell me a set of brake lines for $500 and I can have them installed anywhere I want to. Considering the current gm situation with the ignition switch I think they should be made to recall all effected vehicles and fix their rusting brake lines.

: the contact stated that the vehicle's brake lines were rusted. An independent repair shop discovered the rusted brake lines and suggested the vehicle be taken to an authorized service dealer. The vehicle was towed to the service dealer who determined that the vehicle was leaking brake fluid. The auto insurer inspected the vehicle for possible damage caused by the towing company and determined that the leakage was due to the rusting. The brake lines were replaced and the manufacturer was contacted after the complaint was taken.

The contact stated when applying the brakes the vehicle had no braking capability. Upon inspection, the contact found the hydraulic brake lines were punctured. This failure was due to the brake lines rubbing against other components of the vehicle. There were no prior warnings indicating a problem with the vehicle. The vehicle is at a repair shop at this time. The hydraulic brake hose rubbing against the upper control arm. The drivers side was also showing signs of wear. Updated 12/07/05.
The consumer purchased a Chevrolet Blazer new on 01/28/98 from masse Chevrolet of east providence, rhode island. The consumer always maintained this vehicle at the proper service intervals. Has all the records. On September 14, 2005 the brakes failed. It happened when turning into driveway and going back down the driveway toward the road. Was able to stop the vehicle by running into the trees alongside driveway. The vehicle was then towed to a garage, where the consumer was trying to find out what happened so suddenly. The brakes have been repaired before. All gm trucks from 1999 up have been recalled because of brake problems. The consumer did not think there was any difference between a 1999 model and a 1998 model. . It was definitely a life threatening situation, which was why he was trying to contact the national safety council. The hydraulic lines throughout the brake system were corroded and replaced. The consumer stated there was some scrapes on the front of the vehicle, but didn't consider it a crash.

Consumer stated that the front brake lines rusted excessively. The cause has yet to be determined. Consumer have been a mechanic for 45 years and never seen rust this bad on a 5 year old car. Gm will not do anything, this truck is dangerous to drive.
Brakes wear prematurely. Consumer replaced the brake line, but problems still exists.
On two separate occasions the brake flex lines failed. The first time the right brake flex lined failed. The second time the brake flex lines failed on both front calipers. While traveling at slow speeds, (less than 15 mph) brake pedal pulses, and goes towards the floor. Abs then activates, and the truck does not stop. This has happened 5-10 times, twice causing collisions with curbs, and parking barriers. Garage that fixed a broken brake line, checked the brakes, and could find no problems.
Brake line is rubbing up against wheel column, resulting in formation of a hole in brake line. This has caused vehicle to lose brake pressure during normaloperation. Dealership has not examined vehicle for this problem. Please provide any additional information / attachments.
One panic stop to avoid a collision. The front brakes locked up. They smoked and had a burnt odor, the dealer resurfaced the rotors, fixed a brake line. Now when stopped, the brake pedal slowly goes to the floor, though I do have braking power when moving. The dealer rechecked it and told me this is normal. An independent mechanic says not. To date, the dealer has not fixed the problems.
The problem we have with the truck since it was new is air leaks at these new slip together air connections. They are every where in the air brake system and they continually leak.
This has been taken into the same dealer several times for brake problems without any satifactory answers. The last time was about 3 months ago when I finally gave up and have been looking at trading it off in the near future when I can afford to. At the last effort to correct the problem with the service mgr, he told me that the caracteristics of the brake pedal slowly go to the floor at a stop sign or lite is normal. He said" this is caused by the brake lines expanding" and is normal with the 97 Blazers. Braking problem still exists today.
While driving about 30 mph the rear backing plate bend and cut into the brake line. Driver was able to stop vehicle safely. The vehicle is being repaired by dealer.
Brakes failed completely due to damage of the brake hose causing brake fluid leakage. Yh.
