I own a 1998 chevy Blazer lt (4wd). The driver side front door began to drop an inch or two several months ago every time it is opened. It has gotten to the point that the door won't shut, because the latch is hitting the frame at an awkward angle every time it is closed. Several different body shops have stated that the door is to the point that it has to be welded back on. I have another gm truck in my family (1997 GMC jimmy) that is having the same problem. I have spoken with several other Blazer/jimmy owners and they are experiencing the same problem. This problem should be recognized and dealt with by gm. I will encourage others to submit similar complaints. In comparing this area of the vehicle to others, it appears as though proper support for the door was not included in manufacturing. I request that this problem be looked into and proper recalls issued.

Purchased a 2000 chevy Blazer from harry green chev. In bridgeport,wv. We have had a water leak coming from the drivers door. The wind and water comes in around the door. We have notified them numberous times and they said they would check to see what they could do but have done nothing. The last time we talked to them they said we would have to pay to have the problem fixed. The problem was there since we purchased the vehicle and they should stand good to fix the problem. Seems as if the vehicle may have been wrecked beofre we purchased it but car fax said there wasn't nothing listed. We started off making payments and that was fine they would make regular check ups but as soon as we paid the vehicle off in full they have been giving us the run around. They told use they would take care of the problem but they won't and they want us to pay to have it fixed. The windshield also looks as if it may have been replaced.

On March 25, 2002 my 1997 chevy Blazer sustained extensive damages from an interior fire. I contacted my insurance company and an adjuster assessed the damages and requested a fire inspector evaluate the vehicle to determine the cause of the fire. The fire inspector, ron campbell 541-276-7731, determined that the fire started in the driver side door as a result of an electrical failure. I contacted general motors regarding this problem. They did not respond to my concerns in a timely manner and I felt that I had no recourse but to accept my insurance companies settlement. My insurance company paid "market value" on the vehicle, which left me with a substantial balane due on my vehicle. I not only have to pay-off the remainder of the balance due on the vehicle, but I had to purchase a replacement vehicle. When I was finally able to talk with the person assigned to my case at general motors (mr. Robert st. Pierre), his reponse to me was ". . . You have already received a settlement from your insurance company regarding this matter. Therefore, general motors is unable to assume responsibility for damages". I find this response unacceptable. This vehicle failed due to faulty manufacturing. I not only feel that they have a financial responsibility to me to cover the costs above and beyond what the insurance company covered, but more importantly they have a responsibility to all of their consumers that own Blazers that might sustain similar damage.

The driver's door of my Blazer starting smoking while it was in park - with the engine running. I quickly shut off the engine and popped the hood. No smoke in the engine-but the door was still smoking. I popped off the control panel for the electric windows, etc. The controller for the mirrors was smoldering. Then it burst into flames. Fortunately, the house I was at had a fire extinguisher. We put out the flames, it was still smoldering, so I pulled that part off from all of the wires. The car started and I was able to get home, without anymore smoke or flames. But now the parking lights won't turn off. We had to disconnect the battery.
Consumer woke up and vehicle's interior was all burned up. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was not caused by the vehicle. Consumer felt that the fire was caused by the electrical seats.

Within 3 days of purchasing this vehicle I realized that there was no indication that my doors were left ajar. There is a warning that the rear gate is ajar but not the doors. I have had many cars in my lifetime and this is the first that I didn't have this safety feature. I guess I assumed it was standard -- I am shocked that it is not. . . . I feel very unsafe with my 8 year old children in the car. I often have to get out and verify that the doors are closed.
When it rained water seeped into the cabin of the vehicle and flooded it. Dealership replaced the rubbers around the doors, but the problem still occurred. Consumer indicated that water was coming into the vehicle from somewhere under the dashboard.
Power locks on hatch back door is inoperable, causing no enter or exit from that door, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
