There is a constant blinking noise coming from my glove box. When pressing on the break it quits. By looking up information on the internet I found out it is the multifunction switch. There were recalls on other years but not 1999 Blazers. Its very expensive to fix. There was one on 1998 Blazers I believe. I have a 99 chevy Blazer. Has happened since I bought it.

6 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Switch problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 08/29/2006

The only continuing problem is this: most cars have a few items that are typical failure points, and we've found one. The combination switch (turn signal, cruise, wiper/washer, flasher) on the Blazer is at the top of the list. We've found that it's very common for the flasher relay (under the dash, right side) to start clicking endlessly and audibly while no lights are flashing. Turns out the Blazers combination switch is the problem. It's usually either failure in the turn signal stalk, or contact problems with the emergency flasher switch mounted on top of the steering column. If you remove the shroud, you'll find the switch assembly and turn signal stalk must be replaced as a unit. I don't know dealer prices, but the part on the aftermarket starts about $140 and goes up to $250 or so depending on the specific model and options (tilt, cruise, etc). Labor will add at least another hour if you can't tear down the steering column far enough to do it yourself. This problem is so common that it's a topic of discussion on Blazer and s10 discussion boards, but don't expect a dealer adjustment. If it happens to you, expect to pay for a repair. In some cases owners have been able to spray generous amounts of contact cleaner into the switch and stop the relay clicking, but it's a very hit-or-miss proposition and you have to be lucky to avoid replacing the switch. However, if this is the biggest problem you ever have with the vehicle, life isn't that bad! also this same switch causing the brake lights to not work. Similar to what has been already recalled for the 2000-2002 Blazers. I have no brake lights and it will cost me $300 to repair due to a faulty switch.

7 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Switch problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 07/06/2006

Brake lights work intermitently, can get them to work sometimes by pushing the hazard light switch on and off, but may still work on and off. Took to dealer and they were not showing any recall and would cost about $450 to replace hazard switch carrier if defective, if not it the cost would be $99. 69 for labor to check it out. Called gm 1-800-222-1020 and they said that it should be covered recall #01073a. Gave number to dealer and was told that only some of the vehicles within ven # range were covered by recall and they would have to check into it. My problem with this is why did I not receive a recall notice for this problem when the NHTSA web site shows a recall and my vehicle fall within the range of VIN numbers? and why does'nt the dealer know about this?.

8 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Switch problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 11/20/2005

1999 Chevrolet Blazer approximately 120,000 miles (4-door /4wd) constant turn signal/hazard relay while vehicle is running. Odi id# 10043711 the multi-function switch seems to be the source as seen in many on-line forums/discussion groups. Most are dated, 2001-2003 time frame. I am just wondering if any resolution has been made for this issue. I am in the process of getting the vehicle looked at, while at the shop I was asked by the dealer to use opportunity to add my complaint to the odi id# 10043711 issue.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer 2wd / 4 door bought used 5/2004. Sudden onset of uncontrollable "clicking" of turn signal flasher unit / controller switch. This has continued for the last month.
