This is the third time I have had it to the dealership this time. The first time I was told there was nothing wrong with it. The second time, they replaced the torque converter. This time they acknowledged a problem again and and said gm issued a technical service bulletin to address this. I hope this repair works this time. But my concern is, having been repaired before, how long will this repair last, and 2) will it last till the powertrain warranty has expired? having looked through this list since the first problem in 2018, I have some major concerns with the 8 speed transmission in this truck. Gm needs to address this by issuing a recall or extending the powertrain warranty on this model. I need this vehicle to last and right now it doesnt look good.
Torque converter clutch 'shudder' at loaded steady speed and acceleration - vibration felt in entire cabin @ 15,560 miles. Non-existent while coasting/off-throttle. Prevalent when drivetrain is fully warmed up & on highway. Extremely annoying.
Transmission/torque convertor issues created jerking/shudder while driving at speeds of 40 to 70 mph.
Transmission shudders at all speeds when driving at low rpms. (like going over rumble strips periodically). Also occasionally shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear. I assume it's the torque converter & fluids but chevy won't fix it. It needs to be recalled ASAP!.
Transmission shutters when going at a constant speed. This started around 10k miles and the dealership has tried to fix it three times without success. First two times they replaced the torque converter and third time they replaced the transmissions fluid. The truck also shifts very hard from first gear to second gear with a huge jerking motion around 10 mph. This is very dangerous when driving in parking lots or anywhere near pedestrians. Finally, when compressing the brake at 25mph the truck jerks very violently down to the next gear. The transmission in these trucks needs to be recalled and replaced soon.
Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle new, I have experienced hard shifting, slipping when accelerating, also experience rough idle at times. I have had the torque converter replaced but I still ha e the problem. I've even had the service manager ride with me and he stated he experienced the lugging sensation, and said it's normal, they still did nothing to help me, and this is noted on their service record! this vehicle has been in the shop several times for the same issue, and I get the same answer as they find nothing wrong.

Shudder and slipping in the gears caused by bad fluid and torque converter.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving highway speeds, the contact noticed that the tachometer fluctuated and the transmission shuddered. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission torque converter failed. The dealer replaced the torque converter and the transmission was flushed. The dealer also reprogrammed the transmission computer. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-4982753540. The manufacturer issued technical service bulletin number: 4942742 pie0405c (engineering information torque converter shudder). The approximate failure mileage was 13,500.
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the shop twice for transmission failure. While driving 50 mph, the contact stated it felt like he was driving over a bunch of speed bumps. Camp Chevrolet Cadillac (101 e montgomery Ave, spokane, wa 99207, (509) 381-2970) removed, inspected, and reinstalled the torque converter during the first visit. During the second visit, the dealer inspected the vehicle and only performed an oil change. The contact called the manufacturer and an inspection appointment was scheduled for April 23, 2019. The failure mileage was 1,100.
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that when coming to a stop the vehicle would down shift with out warning. The failure happen intermittently. No warning lights illuminated. Bob hook Chevrolet 4144 bardstown rd, louisville, ky 40218 (844) 212-4818 diagnosed and repaired the torque converter and changed the fluid. The contact were still having the same failure. The manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000. Nd.

My vehicle shakes and shutters when accelerating. I have brought it to Chevrolet of wesley chapel FL 3 times for the same problem. The proceeded to do a "flush" and have replaced the torque converter.
Sept 2018 have noticed that truck seems to vibrate, shudder at 50-60mph. Vibration, shuddering got worse, even at 25mpt. October, I contact service advisor who believes might be torque converter need appt to verify November finally got appt with service dept . They verify it is torque convertor and order parts. December parts in & truck in for 3 days as parts installed. Told this should solve issue, but Chevrolet working of another fix for 1st quarter of 2019. To date, I have not noticed any issues of vibration. Date.
Chevy Colorado a bad vibration in drivetrain. Took truck to dealer who said it was torque converter problem. It has been at dealer for 9 days because they are doing 9 vehicles a day for this problem. Supposedly they are going to change torque convertor, others they just change the oil in torque convertor. This is done approxmately 9 times a week at this one dealer, ross downing in hammond, la. This is the 8sp trans. That is used in several gm rear drive cars and trucks. My truck only has 6300 miles on it. When trying to pass vehicles on interstate it vibrates so bad over 70 mph I am afraid to wreck. Others I have talked to at dealership claim there vehicle vibrates at lower speeds, surges and making noise. This dealership doing 9 a week, that probably is several thousand a week statewide. This is a terrible problem that needs fixin. Many thanks.
Truck bogs down, looses power when taking off from a stop. Front tires feel like they are skipping even though truck is in 2 wheel drive especially up hill. Once truck gets going it rumbles and vibrates so much it bothers your ears, constantly loosing power and speed as your driving. Was told it was the torque converter and it was replaced. Truck continued to have same issue. Truck then blew up (dealership words) while I was driving 75 mph down the highway. Dealership stated it was like your truck went into low gear while you were driving and it should never be able to do that. Had fluid flush and replaced again and rumbling and power lose still occurring.
Twice in shop for faulty modules. Transmission/torque convertor issues created jerking/shudder while driving on highway at speeds of 40 to 70 mph. Was in shop for over 15 days total and repair was ineffective 3 times with acknowledging issues and twice where a diagnostic was ran and was told nothing was wrong. Dealerships in the beginning years ago replaced the torque convertor with a price of $2000k. This was expensive and now they flush the transmisssion 3 times at a cost of $400. 00 per. Gm has offered the issue for an extended warranty from 3 years to 4 years and the original 60 month drive train. I want a buy back as this problem is not solveable from the dealers stand point or it would have been resolved two years ago. I have sent 10 pages of shop records to gmlegal as per their request.
8 speed automatic transmission - rough shifting, usually when driving between 40 and 60 miles per hour. Truck intermittently feels like it is riding over rumble strips. Transmission seems to be hunting. Possible issue with torque converter.
Transmission has horrible shifting. Hard shifting at low speeds and when decelerating (feels like I was rear ended). Torque converter was replaced. From low speed, it doesn't downshift to accelerate unless the pedal is floored. Also, there is hesitation/pedal lag from a standstill, which makes it unpredictable when trying to pull into traffic. That part is a real safety convern.
The problem with my Chevrolet Colorado 2017 truck started with when the new truck barley had under 200 miles on its odometer. The issue is the truck starts to vibrated at a speed of 50-55 mph like if you are going thru speed bumps and the noise stops when you go over 60 miles per hour. I have done a simple 20 minute reserch and have found out that there are other individuals that have had the same issue with their same year Colorado truck's. I took my truck to the dealership where I bought the truck. They knew exactly what the issue was. They are in the process of replacing the torque converter. Looks like a major concern to me.
After about 600-700 miles on new vehicle, after truck sits overnight when first started you could feel what seems to be the the torque converter was engaging as it the transmission had lost pressure. Then while driving anywhere between 40-65mph converter seem to be unlocking and locking which cause a very bad shutter as if you were driving over bricks, and then when coming to a stop the transmission down shifted into 1st gear very very hard, which is hard on the drive line. Took back to dealer they keep it 3 days and flushed trans fluid with a new special fluid. The shuttering has stopped but the other 2 problems remain, so I'm thinking now they'll have to change the converter out.
I have a 2017 Colorado z71. I bought it specifically so that both my wife and I could use it as necessary, (being of quite small stature she is unable to drive a full size pick up) however, due to the following ongoing issues she has yet to agree to drive it out of concern for her safety. It presented with what have become chronic transmission problems immediately after purchase. I have returned it to the dealer multiple times to no avail. Initially it intermittently shuddered to the point of vibrating the entire vehicle as if driving over rumble strips while driving on either streets or highway. Then it began lunging forward unexpectedly and uncontrollably when presumably shifting to the point which feels like having been rear ended by another vehicle while driving on both streets and in parking lots. During the span of multiple visits the dealer has replaced the torque converter, as well as replacing the transmission fluid. Despite no longer shuddering, the vehicle still lunges randomly. I was informed by the service manager during my latest visit about the lunging that they knew what the vehicle is doing, and that there is no fix for it. . . Which is absolutely unacceptable. I'm quite concerned about my vehicle lunging unexpectedly and uncontrollably into a pedestrian or another vehicle.
2,400 miles and this vehicle has been back to the dealer four times for "chugging and shuttering" in heavy traffic. Driving though an intersection with heavy traffic it will not keep up with traffic but tends to bog down almost getting rear ended from behind. If you try to smoothly accelerate it will rapidly downshift and jump forward almost rear ending any vehicle in front. Very unsafe to drive. Trying to drive with the flow of traffic at 35-40 mph the truck shutters as if the spark plugs are worn out. Also trying to accelerate into on coming traffic it will sometimes chug to where you wonder if it's going make make the merge. Very frustrating to drive for a brand new truck, the dealer replaced the torque converter at 500 miles, then has preformed service bulletin #pip5342b three times with absolutely no improvement. Gm states in the bulletin "note: preforming this calibration update may not totally address the shudder or chugging concerns" how can new vehicles continue to be sold with this known problem? not only is it frustrating trying to drive smoothly, but it is also a safety concern. Due to the poor performance the mileage is about 13 mpg in city traffic, not even close to the mileage rating of 17 mpg.

Input housing shaft splines in torque converter was worn out after 44,000 miles, was replaced and was worn out again at 79,000 miles. After 35,000 mile, I believe this is a manufacturer defect or they are using a metal that should not be used for tension.
