37 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

Vehicle: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado trail boss mileage: approximately 14,000 miles I am submitting this complaint because the abs braking system on my vehicle activates unexpectedly and causes a temporary loss of braking when driving over uneven pavement. When braking over potholes, bumps, or rough road surfaces at low to moderate speeds, the abs system engages even though traction is available. When this happens, brake pressure is reduced to the point where the vehicle does not slow as expected. The abs warning indicator flashes briefly, and there is a noticeable delay before normal braking resumes. This behavior has occurred multiple times in normal driving conditions on city streets, not during panic stops or slippery conditions. The issue feels most pronounced when approaching intersections or slowing in traffic over broken pavement, where consistent braking is critical. The momentary reduction in braking force significantly increases stopping distance and creates a safety concern. The vehicle has low mileage, has not been modified, and is maintained as delivered from the manufacturer. There are no warning lights remaining on after the event, and the issue appears to be related to abs calibration rather than driver input or road conditions. This does not feel like normal abs operation and gives the impression that braking is interrupted at the exact moment it is needed. Given the frequency and repeatability of the issue, I believe this represents a potential safety defect that could contribute to a collision, particularly in urban driving environments with uneven road surfaces. I am submitting this complaint to document the issue and to request that the abs braking behavior on this vehicle be reviewed for safety.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

Any time the heated seats and or steering wheel heat are on the lights pulsate inside and outside the vehicle. I have complained to the dealership and chevy. Neither one has any answers for this. Chevy admitted via email finally that it was an issue but they did not have a fix at this time and the vehicle was safe. I find this to be a safety issue due to the lights pulsating and that apparently it is pulling too much power somewhere. To me this could cause a fire. For the money I paid for a brand new vehicle you'd think they would be willing to figure this out quickly. I know of others who have this issue as well with the same response from chevy. They apparently do not care about the safety of the people who purchase their vehicles.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

While driving my 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster reboot unexpectedly. During these reboots, the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights are unavailable for at least 30 seconds. This has occurred multiple times at highway speeds, creating a serious safety concern because I cannot see my speed or critical vehicle information while the system resets. Restarting the vehicle sometimes restores functionality, but the issue recurs intermittently. I have checked with my dealer, and no permanent fix or recall has been issued by gm at this time. This defect poses a risk to driver and passenger safety and should be investigated promptly.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/29/2025

I have experienced brake failure twice while driving my 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. When the failure occurs, the dashboard displays multiple warnings, including “service traction control,” “service power steering drive with care,” and “no assist soon. ” when these messages appear, the steering becomes extremely stiff, the brakes lose stopping power, and the vehicle becomes very difficult to control. The first incident happened around April 2024, and the dealer performed a software update. The issue happened again around October 2024 at approximately 24,000 miles. The vehicle is primarily used on highways and has no modifications. This is a serious safety concern. The combination of brake loss and power steering failure could result in loss of control, crash, injury, or death. There was no warning before the failures occurred. The dealer cannot confirm a permanent fix. This problem needs to be investigated for a potential recall. This vehicle is now unsafe and unreliable. I refuse to transport my family in it. I am seeking a full refund/buyback, as multiple safety system failures are unacceptable and dangerous.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/22/2025

When the truck is driven there are times at random that the steering wheel locks into place while driving at any speed on the road. This warrants me to slowly try and get the car off the road to shut it down and restart it and then the steering goes back to normal. This has happened multiple different times on different days. This has not happened on the highway yet, but if this occurs while driving on the highway this poses a huge risk for an accident to occur. Chevy has had this similar recall on previous 2015s and it seems that 2016 owners are complaining about this issue but it is yet to be a recall.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

All the sensors seem to not be functioning correctly. Doesn't tell me the right measurements for the wheels, gas, over heating. Right front passenger door locks/unlocks when it wants. It chokes up when trying to accelerate. Theres a rattling noise that comes from under the car. First time I took it to the dealership, they stated it was a bolt that had come loose on the exhaust pipe. They placed a new one which lasted a year and a half and now its back to making the noise. I took it again to the dealership, this time they claimed they couldn't find anything. My airbag sensor keeps coming on constantly. My fuel sensor claims 116 miles one moments and 5 or 6 minutes later, it says I have 50 miles. My car was over heating and low on anti-freeze, the car never notified it was over heating.

Stabilitrek error popped up and traction control lights came on and there was a sudden (brief) loss of electrical power when I turned on high beams.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/09/2025

I’m having an issue with my power steering assist. It just goes out while I’m driving. I almost hit a telephone pole one day almost 2 cars two other times. It started about seven months ago when you pull over shut off the truck open the door to break continuity for the electrical system close the door and start it. It goes back to working normal. It’s gotta be part of the connections underneath the power steering assembly unit itself, but there is no recall for my specific VIN.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/08/2025

October 2025----problem with 2017 Chevrolet Colorado wt with 2. 5l engine and 6 speed automatic. It has 57,000 miles on it. Original owner--bought new. "stabilitrak" warning light came on when I first started the pickup in the morning and stayed on. Then a message appeared saying that there could be a steering issue or a control issue operating the pickup and to take it to the dealer for service. Colorado starts normally and runs normally. Only issue is the warning light for the stabilitrak is on constantly. I read in the manual that tcs(traction control system) and the stabilitrak system have been disabled. The owner's manual states "the vehicle is safe to drive; however, you do not have the benefit of stabilitrak, so reduce your speed and drive accordingly. " have a dealer service the system. I have had no safety issues or risky situations. Have about 300 miles added since it occurred. It has not been inspected yet by a dealer.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

Stabilitrak error and traction control lights came on and electrical power flickered off and on when I rolled up passenger window.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

Intermittent loss of power. Power returns when wiggling the battery.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

While driving, my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado experiences sudden voltage drops and intermittent loss of power steering assist — the same symptoms described in the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado recall (NHTSA #16v054000). When the failure occurs, the steering becomes extremely heavy and unsafe, especially during low-speed turns or lane changes. In September 2024, I brought my truck to an authorized Chevrolet dealership for sudden loss of power steering and electrical issues. A diagnostic was performed, and a fuse was replaced — they claimed that fixed the issue. Not even a month later, in October 2024, I brought my truck back to the dealership for the exact same issues. They confirmed a voltage drop but could not identify a specific cause. They verbally advised me they “cleaned the connectors,” which temporarily fixed the problem. Approximately one year later, in October 2025, the same issue returned — identical symptoms and voltage behavior. My truck was manufactured in August 2015, which is close to the recalled 2015 production window. Based on the symptoms and timing, I believe my truck may have been built using the same steering components or wiring harnesses as the recalled vehicles. This appears to be the same safety defect that caused the 2015 recall, only affecting a slightly newer VIN range. I request that NHTSA investigate whether additional 2016 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles built in mid-to-late 2015 should be included in the recall for loss of steering assist. No service lights will be on and suddenly while driving I will get “service stabilitrak”, “no traction control”, and “service power steering”. Turning off my vehicle and restarting will temporarily fix the issue. Chevrolet Colorado, 2016, steering assist loss, voltage drop, power steering failure, recall 16v054000, safety defect, connector corrosion, torque sensor wiring harness, electrical failure, early production 2016.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

The infotainment system is not functioning. The screen will come on as I turn on the truck, then it goes blank. Sometimes it flashes and then goes black. I cannot use any of my apps or connect to apple carplay. This has been going on for months now. I have complained to Chevrolet and the dealership. They have failed to provide a solution. This truck only has 35,000 miles on it. We can no longer take it on trips because we have no navigation, especially in areas where WI-fi may be hard to connect to by just our phones. We have followed all the trouble shooting provided in the chevy app or online and nothing helps.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/13/2025

Starting on 08/13/2025 while driving the truck, the gauge cluster and radio went completely out (black screen) and the five red automatic emergency braking led's illuminated and stayed on for up to 5 minutes. This happened about 8 times on my commute home. This happed again on 08/14/25 after the dealership did a software update to resolve the issue. The truck was serviced again on 09/11/2025 and I was told that gm has no software fix for this at this time. On 09/25/2025 again the truck was serviced again to try and fix the issue. This time the radio came on and I could not turn it off or adjust the volume. I went straight to the dealer and showed the issue to the service manager james mask. The cluster and radio to this day continue to go out (black screen), no speedometer, gauges of any sort for a period of time from 15 seconds to 30 minutes. This leaves me with no way of obeying the speed limit, fuel level, oil or temperature gauges. Gm is being blasé about this. They have admitted they know the issue exists but can't or won't offer a fix for the issue.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

Power steering failure identical to recall #16v054000 (issued February 2016) on 2015 Colorado. Vehicle will unexpectedly lose power steering udden stiff steering and both “service power steering” and “service stabilitrak” warnings appear on dashboard. Defective parts appear to be gear assembly (gm part #23228020) and revised torque sensor cover kit (gm part #84344239).

57 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

Power steering and stabilitrak warnings were displayed while I was driving and I immediately lost power steering while trying to execute a turn off the highway. This almost resulted in an accident. Warnings have been displayed twice now without prior incidents, and no warning that I will lose power steering. I have not taken my vehicle in yet, but other owners of 2016’s have reported the same issues with no response from the manufacturer. The 2015 model had a recall for the exact same issue with the exact same part number, however they will not address the issue in the 2016 model. This is a public safety issue as accidents and even death can occur if one loses steering while driving.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/16/2025

Fpcm code p069e. Engine stalls when slowing down. Local dealer says to check wires around water pump area if rubbing and unsecured.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/14/2025

My 2016 Colorado is having a power steering failure identical to the 2015 recall. Recall #16v054000 (issued February 2016) covered 2015 Colorados and canyons with the same type of electric power steering (eps) gear assembly prone to internal corrosion. Exact failure symptoms: sudden stiff steering, steering wheel locks/stiffens “service power steering” or “stabilitrak” warnings dtc codes like u0073, u0101, c0545, etc. Defective part: original gear assembly: gm part #23228020 revised torque sensor cover kit (to prevent corrosion): gm part #84344239 the vehicle has been taken to the dealership in January when this failure first occured. The dealer claimed it was due to the corroded negative battery cable. I explained that this was a known issue and a recall had been issued for the same part on the 2015 model. They refused to investigate further. On 07/14/2025 the issue resumed and repeated after restarting the vehicle till it reset no more and remained without power steering. I dropped off the vehicle and one rep informed me that this issue was due to wear and tear and that my vehicle was not on the list of recalls. I spoke to a supervisor and he said they would look into it but it did not sound promising.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/07/2025

My 2018 Chevrolet Colorado diesel has had repeated diesel emissions/dpf-related failures that cause the vehicle to enter reduced-power or limp mode. This is a safety issue because the truck suddenly loses power and cannot accelerate normally. The most serious incident occurred while driving over santiam pass in oregon. The vehicle went into reduced-power/limp mode on a mountain highway, leaving me unable to maintain normal speed or accelerate safely. I lost power needed to pass traffic and had limited ability to respond to road conditions. The problem has happened several times. It has also occurred while I was towing my boat, which left me unable to continue the trip safely and created a hazardous situation because the truck could not maintain normal towing power. The issue appears related to the diesel particulate filter/emissions system and repeated dpf/regen or exhaust aftertreatment problems. I am concerned that a design, calibration, or emissions-system defect is causing sudden power reduction during normal driving and towing. This creates an unreasonable safety risk, especially on mountain passes, two-lane highways, and while towing. I am requesting that NHTSA review this as a potential safety defect involving the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado diesel dpf/emissions system and reduced-engine-power strategy. I am also requesting that this complaint be considered with any similar complaints, recalls, technical service bulletins, or emissions campaigns related to dpf regeneration, particulate matter sensor diagnostics, reduced engine power, or limp mode on the 2. 8l duramax Chevrolet Colorado.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer for a routine oil change and after the vehicle was serviced, the contact was provided a multi-point vehicle inspection sheet which showed that the brake pads had received a green check mark and that the brake pads were 7-millimeters or greater on both the driver’s and passenger’s side. The next day upon start of the vehicle, the contact stated that a message "new brake pads detected" question was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact selected the "no" option followed by another question to service the brake pads. The contact then stated that a "service brake pad monitoring system" message appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the dealer was informed of the messages. A mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that both the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the brake pads were 2 millimeters or less, despite the contact receiving information the day prior which stated otherwise. The contact questioned the dealer about the discrepancy and was informed that the computer provided the results for the multi-point vehicle inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

The infotainment center goes out, then comes on on a frequent basis causing the loss of navigation system through carplay and now will not even connect to carplay also loses backup camera. In addition I have noted that when the blinker is on to signal a turn, it will stop the blinker system when the infotainment center goes out, which is a safety concern with the use of blinkers to signal approaching rear traffic to the vehicle. I have contacted the dealer and also see there’s an infotainment bulletin out. I have not had a response from the dealership as of this report. I am also a certified safety professional, and the loss of turn signal in conjunction with the infotainment center outage raises a safety concern in my opinion. This has been an ongoing issue with the system for the last year or so and has progressively gotten worse to the point that the screen now goes out every minute or so for 5 to 30 seconds and now carplay will no longer connect to phone for navigation. The constant screen going black started within the last 30 days of June 2025.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/14/2025

I have been having intermittent issues with a warning on dash says service safety retrain system vehicle will shut off on its own doesn't want to restart vehicle was taken to dealership for a TSB as well as the shutoff issue they had the truck 28 days said they diagnosed the truck could not duplicate my concerns I also explained the issue with display going out flickering brake lights etc, intermittent issue with btakes being hard then extremely soft, I even showed video that they can clearly hear me talking on they did not care. When I picked the truck up from dealership the mileage in was same as mileage out as noted on the paperwork and matches pictures I took they never drove the truck. On Wednesday June 4, 2025 while driving home I ended up running a stop sign and barely missing a car because truck shut off causing my brakes to not respond I was able to get it to stop just in time it was witnessed by a local law enforcement agency I showed the officer my truck would not start and pedal was unresponsive was told it had to be towed had a friend tow to my house. On Saturday June 14, 2025 while on my way to northern duchess hospital the warning came on the display and vehicle shut off I was able to get it off the road could not start it had to call for someone to drive me to the hospital upon release at 5am I had to call my brother to pick me up we got truck to start after 20 mins while driving it he informed me I had no brake lights turn signals or headlight the display was black no speedometer nothing had to call friend to tow again once at my house he started checking fuses found 4 melted fuses one was ecm the others were body control module and something else this truck has 7300 miles on it the problems are getting worse last time at dealership service manager stated he wasn't wasting more than 20 minutes on diagnosing anything. Other issues are windows going down on there own climate controls coming on by itself and air coming in by top of windshield.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/16/2025

I was driving the truck and first I got a "software update needed vehicle must be parked and off" this was followed quickly be a "low tire pressure alarm" 3 times in a short distance then I got a message "antilock brake issue do not drive over 62 mph or vehicle may not stop" then the brakes began to randomly slam on and release and smoke began to come out of the air vents. The next alarm was "esv shutting down " and I lost power steering and brakes; I tried getting the vehicle off the road out of the traffic lanes and the smoke was rapidly increasing in the cab then the engine shut down and I did my best to get the truck out of the traffic lanes and flames started coming from under the hood. A man stopped to help me out of the truck and by then the engine compartment was fully involved quickly and spreading into the interior of the cab. This all happened on country roads at about 40 mph. I went to the medical center 2 days later as I was still having problems breathing from all the smoke. This was a new truck I bought in early November and only had 6900 miles on it.
