Temperature heater flap door, causes truck to go from normal temperature to red hot with boiling coolant in reservoir. Have spent thousands and thousands of dollars , on mechanics and parts! replaced water pump , thermostat, lots of cooling and heater parts and components . No luck and still no good running car , missing work and spending money we don’t have I read online about other trucks my same year and model having a recall on a temperature door. Causing it to overheat and a lot of people have had the same issue as I’m having. I looked up my truck. It doesn’t have it listed on the recall list but I’m sure that it’s the same issue.

The oil cooler lines are rusting and leaking. Seems to be a common issue going back 9 years since they started making these new Colorados from information I found online. Totally unacceptable for a truck to that is 4 years old to be rotting out. One of the lines is a nightmare to replace because of where it is inserted into the motor. Mechanic had to remove the front differential, axle, ac compressor, drive shaft, fuse box, and intake to replace a 60$ oil line.

The vehicle stuttered upon acceleration between 20mph and 35mph. After the 2018 chevy Colorado was taken into the chevy dealership for inspection, the torque converter failed at roughly 76,000 miles. A bad torque converter can potentially cause an accident. It can lead to engine revving issues, sudden speed changes, which can be dangerous while driving. The torque converter failed and left metal shavings in the transmission causing the transmission to need replaced as well. This was diagnosed by the chevy dealership and has a repair ticket of over thirteen thousand dollars. ( $13,000. 00 ) which most people can't afford to absorb. After a quick google search, this appears to be a common problem. There should be a recall to fix this issue.

Date: April 19th, 2024 | location I-95 (pooler georgia) leaving costco 1 ½ after entering entrance headed to savannah. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles a hour with heavy traffic alongside me and a tractor trailer behind me when I felt my truck quickly DE-accelerate on its on. Then I saw the “sudden warning on dashboard, “reduced acceleration – drive with care” then the 2nd warning on dashboard, “ service traction control. ” I was almost rear ended by the tractor trailer. I was never so startled but I keep my nerve…. Got over to the right lane at slowed speed (it was weird. Speed slowed but felt like I was in high gear…. ) I droves about a ½ mile …. Got off at next exit and pulled over at gas station. I turned car completely off and tried to reset computers, but it would not. I decided to drive under 35 miles a hour on side streets to dan vaden dealership. The issue is with the transmission not shifting as should. The issue is called shuddering and seems to be a know isuue. If you google search issues with 2018 chevy Colorado this is the first issue that comes up. This could cause an accident. If gears aren’t shifting properly and I cannot excel as needed I could be rear ended or cause me not to be able merge into traffic if once accelerating it shudders and causes my speed to slow. I think there should be a recall for this issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 65-75 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle was sluggish. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an auto part store, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft had failed. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The contact received notification of gm special coverage bulletin number: n232430470, which she related to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be covered because it was salvaged; however, the contact stated that the vehicle was salvaged due a collision that caused the front driver's side tire to separate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
This truck has roughly 41000 miles on it. As I was driving home from work on [xxx], I heard a faint noise and then my truck just lost power and died on the freeway. There were no engine warning lights on and did not want to restart and stay running. After a few times of starting and dying the message on the dash said keep driving engine is in regen. This is a diesel truck and the newer ones have a regeneration that is done with def. I was unable to get it off onto the exit, but did get it off the roadway. The vehicle was towed into the shop on February 3rd, 2024. The shop had to order parts and said that it was just a faulty part. I received the truck back on March 14th. I drove it home from the shop and to work for two days putting roughly 100 miles on the truck. On my way home on [xxx] , the truck died again with no warning at all. Same symptoms, just no power and no warning. The truck was towed back to the shop where it still sits today. The problem is there is an issue with this thing dying without any warning at all. The dealer and Chevrolet techs have been unsuccessful in finding the problem. It has been almost 6 months in the shop with literally no idea of what is wrong. I feel this is a serious safety issue that could leave people or families stranded without any warning or idea of how to repair. I feel this should be investigated and brought to someone's attention. I have contacted Chevrolet, but unfortunately they have left everything up to the dealership. The dealer is auburn Chevrolet in auburn, wa. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the navigational system and radio continued to reboot, and volume increased to high levels without driver interaction. The contact replaced bank two and valve two and stated that the cam shaft exhaust was faulty. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the failure was due to bank two, the cam shaft, and that the vehicle was idling roughly. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The engine is needing replaced. I was driving down the interstate and the engine, electric control system, and stability lights all went off. The engine started shaking. The Chevrolet dealership says it's $6,500 before tax to diagnose or I can replace it for $10k before tax. I believe they know what the issue is, but not telling. The engine should not fail so. Soon.
Driving on interstate sudden acceleration then when truck turned off radiator fans would not shut off ,also problems with infotainment system since truck was bought never fixed they always told me couldn’t duplicate problem.
The brakes went out on the vehicle while my service technician was driving and he barely missed getting in an accident. We had it towed to the chevy dealer and the brake pump shattered causing damage to the exhaust clamp and they are telling me it’s not under warranty or recall but I see this is happened with millions of other chevy vehicles?.
My infotainment system as well as my driver display system black out and does not have a fix for it. I have had to drive my truck with no speedometer no safety info or system. I use my truck for work. I have no clue even how much gas is in my truck. Everything is controlled through this system.
2 incidents. 1. The blind spot indication (driver side) gives false readings sometimes. Will light up at various times in clear weather with no vehicle next to me. Sensors checked and were clean. 2. The vehicle had a dead battery. It was jumped by roadside assistance. When started, the vehicle had a check engine light. I called onstar (hands free function built in) to diagnose the problem while driving to charge the battery. Onstar told me what it said and indicated I should take it to the dealer. When I attempted to merge onto ok-51 the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating without warning causing me to nearly miss another vehicle while merging. When I looked down at the ip, a message came up saying vehicle limited to 62 mph. I wasn’t previously warned or told by onstar that this would happen (I was still talking to onstar when it happened and the customer service representative sounded surprised). I did not collide with the vehicle but the other vehicle had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid my unintentional slow merge.
Just prior to 8/1/22, check engine light came on. They found p0014 set, lack of power, rough idle. They found oil pushed through bank 1 cam solenoid actuator and had to replace on 8/1/22. Check engine light came on again in mid August 2023. Found p0024 code and had had to replace the cam actuator again. This time gm has part on backorder, like they are fixing systemic issue with part. They could only replace by getting from another dealer. Still charged me for part even though it was just replaced 12months ago. Would like to know if this is a systemic issue with gm.
Exhaust leaks but it doesn’t do it all the time.
We purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado December 2022. Beginning in January 2023 to current month July 2023 the vehicle has been at the dealership 4 times for the same occurrence: service stabilitrak and engine power is reduced a warning “ding” sounds (the same noise as seatbelt, door ajar, etc) simultaneously with the messages “service stabilitrak” and “engine power is reduced” the vehicle immediately is jerking or lurching, the engine no longer runs smoothly and is misfiring. The engine power reduced does not allow safe acceleration, and the vehicle is unstable (as it moves it feels like driving over a thousand speed bumps over and over), the engine misfiring is heard from the exhaust and the vehicle is visibly vibrating, on acceleration the maximum speed is 20 mph. All 4 times this has happened while driving the vehicle on highways in traffic. We are left unable to get out of the way of moving traffic, unable to accelerate, change lanes or make turns safely. Three of the four times we had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The last time the vehicle did this fortunately I was near our local dealership and drove it less than a mile so the service people could “witness” what I had been trying to explain what’s been happening with this vehicle. This is a very serious issue! my husband is 75 and very ill. I have to drive him 100+ miles for treatments on a regular basis. We cannot continue to be put in danger because of this vehicle default. We need this problem fixed not only for ourselves but for the safety of others, including unsuspecting drivers and innocent passengers, young, elderly, disabled, some simply misunderstanding our vehicles “failures to perform” in traffic on the roads. A trusted vehicle is very important. A stabile vehicle with sufficient engine power is a must if we are going to put it on the roads. “service stabilitrak” and “engine power is reduced” is not new. General motors needs to take action to correct this problem and educate dealers.
From a stop, accelerating has occasionally caused transmission to shudder, limiting power and ability to follow traffic until transmission reengages and power is restored. This creates an unnatural traffic pattern and puts myself at risk. After much research it appears the problem is with the transmission and torque converter. The engine may produce more torque than the transmission can handle. Problem started out infrequently, but has increased in frequency over time. Please reference report #11449007.
06/13/2023: odometer: 86881 transmission-2nd shift: flare, 3rd shift: rough shift flare, 4th shift: shutter. Excessive metal particles in the fluid. No transmission codes or engine light detected. Result was a new rebuilt transmission. 11/01/odometer: 90239 engine code: p00b7 coolant flow restriction, stuck thermostat. Result was to replace thermostat and flush coolant system. 12/06/odometer: 91701 no codes detected. Fluids noticed on pavement occasionally. Valve cover gasket, vacuum pump gasket were failing. Result was to replace all parts. 02/25/odometer: 92885 code-engine overheating, idle engine. Critical 260 upon cold start. Failing temperature sensor. Result was to replace front and rear temperature sensor. Driver seat has begun to unravel and separate at the stich line on the side closest to the door. No repairs have been made. Issue began years ago. Approximately 2018. The area was small and has slowly widened. Approximately 6 inches currently even with avoidance of stretching and being cautious of that area. I do have documentation of this events and repairs if they are needed.

Unknown other than I requested vernon Chevrolet in CT repair my recall on January 2, 2023 but have yet to hear back.
I have 2021 chevy Colorado pickup truck. Put the truck in park and unable to turn off and remove the key. This is the third time this has happened this week . The first two times I moved the shifter from park to drive and back and it released. The last time I had to sit in my drive way for twenty minutes with the truck running before I could turn the key to shut off the truck. This is a very dangerous situation if there was every an emergency and not being able the shut off the truck.
Gear shifter won't recognize the truck is in park. When attempting to turn off vehicle accessories stay on and key will not come out. Dealer replaced my shifter today and the third time parking after being fixed, the issue remains.
My vehicle shutters on highway. I was told by a few chevy representatives that they would help fix it even though it’s out of warranty. This is a known problem across the USA and they should fix it at no charge to customer.
The oil coolant line has just failed for a second time in two years on our 2017 chevy Colorado that only has 50,000 on it. In both cases I was driving down the road and the line ruptured and alarms started going off to shut the engine off. This is very dangerous to have to immediately stop in the middle of the road and then left stranded (especially in the middle of a cold mn winter). The first time this happened the vehicle was under warranty and our dealer towed and fixed the vehicle. The second time, it is just 8 months past the warranty time (still under the warranty mileage limit). This is now a $1200 repair for something that should not be happening any way. This is a known, common issue with gm and they are doing nothing to solve this problem - or even warn their customers of this safety issue. Two catastrophic failures of an essential drive train component in a vehicle with 50,000 miles? also in both cases there was no warning of any kind before it happened. No warning lights or symptoms. It just all of a sudden blew both times and left me stranded on the road.
Thermostat malfunction. Part was nearly impossible to locate. Was without transportation for 5 days. Replacing a thermostat on a 2019 chevy Colorado is now a major repair. The total cost was in excess of $1100. The vehicle only has 34,800 miles on it.
I bought this chevy Colorado a few months ago, vehicle with 65k, and unfortunately, for safety reasons, I could not drive it for more than 10” miles so far, because every time I drove it, I ran serious risks of causing an accident , which could even be fatal, as the vehicle simply turns off (turns off) when being driven, no matter where it is, and it takes a few minutes for it to restart, and this has happened to me several times in high traffic places. I've taken it to a few repair shops and electrics, but the problem hasn't been resolved. The chevy is a vehicle in excellent condition and has low mileage, and unfortunately due to some quality problem, which did not come from the factory, I am unable to enjoy it and drive it with pleasure. I count on the help of this great company that is NHTSA to solve this problem, and give me the joy of being able to drive my 2010 chevy Colorado.

Truck will have issues with misfires or rough idle. Technician advised that the truck has excessive intake valve carbon which is a known issue for 2015 - 2016 Colorado and stated their is a bulletin for this know issue. However, this is not a recall even if they know this is something known that happens.
