Oil filter adapter insert gm part number 12696079. Becomes unattached from oil filter housing if not extremely careful during a oil change service. Resulting in total engine failure. Some time the engine fails to start, cranks ok, volts at battery 10. 5v while cranking, install new battery, no help, no check engine lite, no codes in computer. After 15 or 20 min. It will start. The dealer says he can not help entell it happen at the dealership,the the fuel pump is running when this happen. I cannot check the spark because I canot find them. Please help. This is the second complaint filed, the first one had the wroung truck( 2005( avalanche) do not use that one.

The contact stated that he coasted to the side of the road and restarted but the engine failed again. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer advised the contact that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but when the vehicle was test driven, a fire originated from the engine. The vehicle was not destroyed. There were no injuries reported. The manufacturer was notified but the contact had not received a response. The failure mileage was 380.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the engine was a 4 cylinder 2. 8 engine and would cause the vehicle to drive abnormally. The contact stated that the number 4 valve was sticking. The dealer diagnosed that the engine would need replacing. The engine was replaced by the dealer numerous times, but the failure continuosuly recurred. The dealer also rebuilt the transmission, but the contact was uncertain if the failure was directly related to the engine failure. The manufacturer was contacted, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 160,000 and the current mileage was 200,000. The VIN was unavailable.
