Got notification of brake system failure on the dashboard and lost all braking ability. After the truck was shut off they worked again, perfectly fine. This scenario repeated itself and I lost breaks again. The truck has 200 miles on it and after looking online seems to be a common issue.

The contact was informed that the vacuum sensor and the vacuum pump needed to be replaced and the cam shaft needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was stiff. We purchased a 2024 chevy Colorado mid June and drove it successfully, without incident until the end of August when the vehicle had complete brake failure. My husband was driving on I-95 in morning rush hour traffic when the dashboard lit up flashing several different indicators and a message saying "brake system failure" and "service esc" he had no brakes but could slow somewhat by applying as much pressure as he could to the brake pedal. He got the car to the dealer that same morning, grieco cheverolet delray. They worked on the car all day and we were called in the late afternoon to pick up. It was explained to us that gm advised their mechanics to restart the computer that controls that component and that the problem should be fixed. We were also told they were going to go ahead and order a replacement part in case "it happened again. " this comment did not leave us with much confidence. Then, as we were checking out, the employee noticed there was no explanation of what had been done to the vehicle. He called the mechanic and said he refused to hand over the keys until notes were added explaining what was done to address this serious issue. So notes were made, copies were handed over, and off we went. The truck drove perfectly until exactly one week later when the dash lit up again with all kinds of alerts and lights stating, "brake system failure" and "service esc. " that's right, no brakes again. We had the truck towed back to the dealer this time and we have been told they have ordered "the part" and it will probably be 3 weeks. That was one week ago and we have not heard anything yet. We have concerns over how nonchalant cheverolet and the dealer seem to be about a brand new car having complete brake failure twice and no real explanation as to why. Can you advise? thank you.

I was driving to lunch and without warning, my brakes failed when I approached a 4-way stop. With abs, I was able to stop my vehicle safely in a parking lot. However, the when I turned the vehicle off, it would not start again. The vacuum pump seized and since it is driven by the exhaust camshaft, it destroyed the exhaust camshaft. It's been two weeks and I have been unable to acquire that part. I have been notified by gm parts distributors that the part is on a national supply delay with no firm eta from gm. It seems to be a very common failure. I have been out of a vehicle for over two weeks because of this failure. I also could have been in a terrible accident since the vacuum pump failed without warning. I have checked chevy forums and several others reported the same issue.

The electric power steering is going out spontaneously while driving and also disengaging stablitrak and abs just like the already known recall for the 2015.

Brake failure. Brake pedal became hard to push and little braking action. I relied on downshifting and the parking brake to stop the vehicle from 40mph.

Rotors have warped at 17,000 miles. Has been confirmed by dealership to be the issue. This is incredibly soon for this issue to arise, and driver has not driven erratically or applied brakes suddenly. Noticed when brakes suddenly started shaking entire vehicle when applied.

The parking brake lever contacts a piece of the wiring harness/bundle during operation. Wear on the wiring lead to exposed wires in the bundle. For me, this resulted in an electrical short that rendered the dashboard inoperable. This is a safety hazard as the entire dashboard becomes inoperable, and also a potential fire hazard.

About 30 minutes after driving at low/ moderate speeds, the emergency automatic braking system and five other braking systems failed while the vehicle was in motion. Parking brake was used but nothing worked until the car was in neutral and came to a natural stop. Almost caused an accident.

The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the contact's wife advised the contact to pull the vehicle over because black smoke was exiting the rear vents. Simultaneously, the contact noticed white smoke exiting the front vents. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. In addition, the contact noticed that the abs warning light illuminated. The contact's wife and six-year-old granddaughter were seated in the rear passenger seats. The contact stated that just as the front driver's side door was opened for the contact to exit the vehicle, a big ball of fire entered the interior of the vehicle. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle, the vehicle burst into flames. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. The police department arrived on the scene. However, there was not a police report or fire report filed. The contact sustained a burn to his left eyebrow area and the left arm. Medical attention was provided to the contact. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was a total lost due to the fire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

Component/system issue: intermittent loss of power assist to brakes after auto start-stop startup. Safety risk: unable to use brakes normally. Requires hard brake pedal pumping to get vehicle to stop. Reproduced by others: no. Doesn't happen every time. It has happened a total of three times (so far). Inspected by manufacturer: yes. The first time, the dealer found low voltage dtc set. Replaced battery. Second time, dealer found low voltage dtc (p 0562) set. They contacted gm tac who provided a file to patch the radio software. Third time, other (possibly related) electronics issues were also present which caused the vehicle to enter limp mode every time it's driven. They've replaced the ecu and the accelerator pedal, neither of which fixed that issue. They are now awaiting a wiring harness from gm to see if that is the root cause. Hopefully it also fixes the intermittent loss of power brakes after auto start-stop startup. Warning lamps/messages/other symptoms prior to failure: no symptoms prior to the failure. Upon startup caused by auto start-stop feature, the symptoms are as follows: all warning lamps illuminate and several messages display on the instrument cluster screen about loss of esc, abs, traction control, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and others. One by one, the warning lights go out within 1 minute, except abs. Power assist for the brakes is not available while this light is illuminated. Within approx. 2 minutes, the abs light goes out and brakes function normally again.

The brake pedal suddenly became very stiff with no warning while driving at highway speeds. Braking was very difficult and required me to swerve into another lane to not impact a car and run a red light. I managed to stop afterwards. This was caused by the cam driven vacuum pump failing. No warning of any kind was given.

Master cylinder leaked into booster an brake fluid got into vac pump. Broke the pump an damaged the end of the cam. Was told metal pieces of cam that broke off where in motor. Had to take a 3600 dollar loss for selling less than what was owed. Car vibration on bad cam. But brakes were repaired with a new pump.

Got a letter that my vehicle had a recall on adas system. Took it in to get fixed. A week later was driving home from work on a straight away and trucks brakes slammed from 50 to 15 then let up. The impact was like someone hitting me from behind. Strained my neck and wrist. Because I was in shock it happened so looked around and there was only one truck 2 lanes on side of road. When the brake released I started driving again. 3 min later it then happened again. I was scared it would happen again so I drove home real slow. We took it back in to get fixed on 04 30 2024 at t he chevy service in hemet. Roger used a sensor reader showing brakes locked up twice. They said they checked it and because there was no issues showing. They didn't fix it. Roger said they drove it 10 miles and nothing happened I explained I have driven it 11000 miles and nothing happened until last week. How can they send me away without fixing a very dangerous issue. As of today 4302024 it can still happen. I was lucky there was no cars behind me that day it would be a different story. Now I have to call gm to try and get them to tell hemet chevy to fix it so no one gets killed or hurt next time it happens. What ever happened to fixing the issue?.

Operator reported that under braking, they lost all power assist to the brake pedal and brake pedal was extremely hard to push. This resulted in extended stopping distance and difficulty slowing the vehicle down. It was found that the vacuum pump had failed. We are a large utility fleet, and this issue has occurred a number of times to our Chevrolet Colorado/GMC canyon vehicles and we deem this a safety issue. These incidents have been reported to the oem and we recently received the attached reply, "we submitted a “speak up for safety campaign” to our internal quality team for review. These reviews are conducted to determine if there is a manufacturing or design defect that could impact quality. After review, the case was closed with no action to be taken. " the operators receive no warning prior to the failure.

Bought my son 16 year old a new truck, truck only has 517 miles on it. He was driving 45 miles/hour on street, dashboard warning lights all lit up abs, brake and check engine. Brakes failed. Was able to pull into a parking lot eventually but a very serious safety issue/concern and this truck should be recalled immediately.

The forward collision avoidance system which controls the automatic emergency braking is showing as unavailable. This is after the parking brake warning light comes on and the brake master cylinder or bcm or both makes clicking noises after driving.

I had recall repair done with the dealership mechanics. After 2weeks in the shop I received the truck back. I drove it for 3 days with no issues. On the 4th day it started emergency braking and I was almost rear ended. On the same day upon starting the engine the radio screen was black. I waited a few seconds turned off the engine and restarted the engine, the instrument panel and radio screen did not light up for several seconds.

The automatic emergency braking system failed me today. The truck is available for inspection. I was driving at about 45 mph, when a car pulled out from a driveway infront of me when it probably should have waited, but there was still time for me to brake safely. I started to apply the brakes and the truck slammed on the brakes, no red lights on the dash flashing, no warning beep. I pulled my foot off the brake because I wasn't sure what was happening but, the truck slammed the brakes to a full stop. . Instant stop! if there had been a car behind me, I would most certainly have been rear ended. The seat belt locked up, my body was thrashed forward twice because of the quick slow down and the stop. I'm sore, scared and not sure what to do. This isn't something that can be recreated without putting someone else in danger. This is not a safety feature, it's an accident waiting to happen!.

Forward collision engagement at 35mph when nothing was in front of vehicle.

I went to a chevy dealership, ed morse, sunrise fla. For an oil change and they told me I need all 4 new brake pads at estimated mileage of 27000 miles. I was shocked because I never needed brake pads that soon. I called Chevrolet corporate to see if there was something defective that they could tell me about. Chevrolet customer service filed a case and told me to take to a dealership in my home town, tallahassee florida. I scheduled an appointment with dale earnhardt Chevrolet. When I went there they told me it would be $199. 00 on my credit card. I told them it under warranty and they told me that was there policy. I called chevy cs and they said that there was nothing they could do. I did tell them this is a safety issue but they didn't care. The brakes are completing worn so there must be an issue with the system for the vehicle to go through brakes so soon. It is driven mostly highway and I am 60 years old.

I have replaced a brake booster three times first time it went out on me I was coming off of the interstate onto an exit 65 mph almost took out four vehicles second time went out luckily I was on a road going slow and third time I felt it very unsafe the mechanic doesn't know what to do with it now they don't even want to fix it parts keep failing called manufacturer they give him the runaround and not good answers no warning lights at all when this happens just happens out of nowhere very scary luckily I haven't killed nobody yet in this vehicle.

While driving the vehicle on three occasions the automatic emergency braking system activated for no apparent reason. The unexpected activation caused the vehicle to brake very hard and the possibility of a rear collision from a following vehicle could have been catastrophic. There were no symptoms or warning indications prior to the incidents. I have deactivated the aeb system until the dealer can correct the problem. I just learned of the problem on 2/22/24, so have not had an opportunity to have the problem corrected.

The brakes went out on the vehicle while my service technician was driving and he barely missed getting in an accident. We had it towed to the chevy dealer and the brake pump shattered causing damage to the exhaust clamp and they are telling me it’s not under warranty or recall but I see this is happened with millions of other chevy vehicles?.

Power steering electrical assist shut off several times while driving and once while parked. Extremely difficult to turn steering wheel and incredibly dangerous and life threatening. Service power steering and service stabilitrak error show on dash screen. Digital diagnostic shows error u0420-42 invalid data received from power steering control module-calibration not programmed. This random continuous issue needs to be fixed or truck recalled or someone will be seriously injured. Please push this information forward.

Bought car on 10/28/23 and as I was leaving the dealership, I applied the brake and the pedal went to the floor. An error code came up "brake system failure". The truck was immediately brought back to the service department. 10/31/23- capital Chevrolet service department checked the error and deemed the vehicle was safe to drive. 11/8/23-I was turning right on a main road and moved into the far left lane to turn left at a red light. When I applied the brakes, the pedal went to the floor and the truck would not stop. I drove over the median on to the opposite driving lane to avoid rear ending another car. On coming traffic was still at the red light, so there was no collision. November 27th-the service center said that the truck was ok to go and I requested all documentation for the incident which I will attach. The service department was not able to duplicate the error and gave me back the truck.

Twice the truck has randomly activated the front collision emergency braking system. One time was going around a turn and it activated, put the steering wheel straight and I almost tboned another car. Another time I was going straight nothing in front of me and it activated almost causing me to be rear ended.

Vehicle fuel fill back flows everything and vehicle's not full splashing gasoline on the vehicle and the ground which could cause an explosion also. The tank will not be full with fuel range on the dash ranging from 440 to 519. 519 is the full range. The vehicle has been back to dealership service department several times (4) with no resolution. The information screen on the dash has gone blank several times requiring it to go back to the dealership. There had been several message on the screen unrelated to the items listed. The accident avoidance system has locked the front brakes up at both 35 mph and 65 mph several times without a vehicle directly in front and without warning. The unexpected braking causes an abrupt stop and unexpected by the driver behind my vehicle potentially causing a rear end collision.

During a preventative maintenance inspection, the mechanic found oil coming from the vacuum pump. Due to the number of failed vacuum pumps the fleet has been experiencing, the mechanic decided to replace the pump in order to avoid a vacuum pump failure during operations.

The braking system did not engaged as expected when suddenly braking in freeway commute. This resulted in a vehicle collision. I believe this issue put myself and others in danger. There were no warning lamps.

Power steering, abs brakes, and brakes all went.
