36 Power Train problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 11/12/2021

At approximately 700 miles, my check engine light came on and the car produced an error message that said "idle creep temporarily disabled". Soon after that the car would lurch, buck on acceleration, and would only drive in even numbered gears. I felt the car was extremely dangerous and unpredictable to drive in this state since the car was unpredictably bucking and lurching forward and not shifting smoothly as usual. The dealer ran an obdii poll and found five codes relating to transmission issues. Gm has admitted to me that my vehicle is one of several that have "assembly debris" in the tremec supplied dct. This "assembly debris" made the transmission filter completely black in appearance at 750 miles in addition to triggering the check engine light and dangerous driving behavior.

37 Power Train problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

At under 3000 miles car started sputtering sporadically and stopped driving while in motion. We were able to get the car home. Tried to start the car back up and it violently surged. Car had no idea what gear it was in. Transmission service now light came on and car sent me an email stating to take it to the dealership. Had car towed to dealer and used tow company they requested me to use. . Dealer says valve body flooded and replaced it. Still not working correctly and dealer says transmission is being flooded. Gm engineers not sure why. Car has been at dealer over a month and have no clue when it can be fixed. When you shifted from park to reverse car would lunge violently like you threw the transmission into park while the car was moving down the street. Car is not safe to drive as it just started to have issues during regular use. Dealer has confirmed and recreated the problem. I was told if valve body didn’t fix it that gm would overnight a new transmission. Now I’m being told they want to continue to debug the issue and they have no clue on what the issue is or when it can be fixed. I’m out a vehicle I count on and am still paying for a car that I can’t have use of. Dealer is dodging my calls now. Here is my open case with Chevrolet asking about lemon law protections since it may be another month before I get my car back. [sr:9-7132169239 car has under 3200 miles on it and is their flagship product.

39 Power Train problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 09/15/2021

After starting the vehicle I am unable to shift out of park. This endangers both myself and a passenger if I need to move the car quickly in case of fire or another vehicle or object coming toward me. It also endangers other passengers in vehicles I may be blocking because they are unable to move. There are many other c6 Corvettes with this same problem documented per the Corvette forum and youtube.

40 Power Train problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 09/05/2021

The vehicle would not shift out of park. Car has less than 20,000 miles. This happened once in a while at first then over time increased to almost every other time the car was started. I took it for repair and was told after searching the VIN # that my 2008 was installed with a 2007 shifter and gear. They said chevy had numerous problems with the 2007 shifter and changed the 2008 parts so this would not happen. I had to replace both parts at around $2,500. 00! I also had to wait on the parts to be found and there was only one available in the entire u. S. Chevy should have to pay for my repair since a 2007 part(s) should not have been placed in a 2008!.

41 Power Train problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/12/2021

Failure of active handling system with onboard computer message to have the system serviced. Other drivers (owner forums) have reported significant safety hazards related to this system failure. Reported issues include system-driven steering and braking actions that lead to mishandling of the car that could put the driver, passengers, other drivers, and property at risk. At this point in time, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There have been no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the prior to the failure, which occurred on 8/12/21. 42 Power Train problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/09/2021

After starting the automatic will often not shift out of park. After turning off the engine and/or waiting 2-3 min. Sometimes it will allow shifting and sometimes this may take several tries. When away from home this could become a major safety problem if someone needed medical attention etc. So far, I have always been able to get it work after time, but as I have checked on the web, others have been stuck. Also, a lot of people disable the safety "lockout" (which seems to be the problem) which is there to make sure the car is started in park. The dealers know about this problem on c-6 Corvettes but want $$$ to replace the entire shift assembly. Without a mandated recall a lot of people will use the instructions on the web to defeat the lockout creating safety issues for current and future owners when cars are sold. This happens almost 50% of the time I start the car and seems to be getting more frequent and take longer to function.

43 Power Train problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/29/2021

At first I couldn’t get it out of park sometimes. Then it became more frequent & finally it wouldn’t go into reverse or park from drive. The only available gears were neutral & drive. My son had to come & disconnect the battery because it wouldn’t turn off all lights & accessories. Since it wouldn’t start in neutral I had to have it towed to my Chevrolet dealership. This car only has 34469 miles on it so I’m not understanding how this could be happening! as it has now sat in the repair yard since July 29, 2021 waiting on parts to fix the problem to the tune of $1300 I think gm should cover that cost. I have kept this car in excellent shape & am proud of it, I get many remarks on its beauty! there is no reason this should happen on a car with 34468 miles on it. I have since seen many forums where a lot of other Corvette owners have had the same issue! $1300 is just the cost to repair the car to get it started so they can perform the maintenance I had an appointment for in the first place!.

44 Power Train problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/27/2021

On July 27, 2021, I was cruising in my 1998 convertible chevy maunal Corvette with under 50k miles. I had it inspected around the end of June. I just driving pulled ahead of traffic and the clutch pedal went all the way down to floor as I approached a stop light!!! I lost all power. I didn't know what to do, but a light bulb in my head went off. But thankfully there was no traffic and I was able to run a light and coast into a gas station and get towed. Upon research the 1998 manual clutch design is used in newer vehicles that and its a system design flaw. Car at shop and we are waiting for parts that are back ordered. Since transmission has to come out I'm getting all clutch stuff fixed. But clutch wasn't bad just the fly wheel and master salve. I will send you bill when I get it. I could have died, caused an accident, been rear ended, it was crazy.

48 Power Train problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 04/14/2021

I have a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette with about 34,000 miles on it. The automatic transmission shift linkage cable has plastic grommets that connect the shift handle to the transmission. The plastic grommets broke disabling the ability to shift out of park into any gear. I was parked in a parking lot when this happened. My concern is if this happens while driving you will lose control of the car.

52 Power Train problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 12/06/2020

At the time of incident the vehicle had 660 miles. Most of the accumulated miles are: 60% street and 40% hiway. I was inspecting the wheels and tire when I spotted a significant amount of grey/black colored grease randomly covering the inner wheel. Upon further inspection I noticed that the grease was splattered on the emergency brake unit, sensors and wiring harness. The grease was isolated to the rear passanger axle. I suspect that the grease came from a defective cv boot. Took vehicle in to checkout the problem and they determined the grease was from a defective cv boot. New axle was ordered.

61 Power Train problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

This particular Corvette c6 model (2005 through 2013 model years) has a well known and documented problem with the automatic transmissions. Upon engine startup, it oftentimes will not shift out of the park gear. When the Chevrolet customer service people were called about this, their response was that they are well aware of this problem with the c6 model years. The customer service people said that a recall was not issued because the way to address this problem is shut off the engine, put the ignition in the accessory mode, then try and shift the transmission into neutral. If it is able to shift into neutral, then start the engine. Once the engine starts, then try and shift the transmission into the drive or reverse gear. If this sequence doesn't work, we were told just to keep repeating this sequence over and over. There have been occasions when we had to repeat this sequence at least half a dozen times and there have also been occasions where we were stranded in parking lots and had to leave the car and come back to it later to try again. This is a safety concern due to the real possibility of being stranded at night in parking lots. There aren't any warning lights or messages. There also aren't any advanced warnings, in terms of symptoms. The only way the problem manifests itself, is when the car cannot be shifted out of the park gear. Whenever the car is brought into service, including at Chevrolet dealers for such items as oil changes, the mechanics try shifting it out of the park gear and when they can't, they will call and ask us what to do. The added concern here is that if the mechanic physically forces the shifter out of the park gear, the entire shifter and possibly the transmission will be damaged. We are the original owners of the car and it only has 18,000 miles on it. This problem first appeared about two years ago but it is happening much more often now.

The vehicle is equipped with an 8l90 automatic transmission. It has a severe shudder problem when cruising down the road at 50 to 70 mph. Can get almost undrivable. Also will not upshift after a performance downshift. Dealer flushed transmission per gm bulletin but problem is still there. Looks like almost all of gm 8 speed transmissions have this problem circa 2015-2016.
