The check engine light came on while I was driving stopped at advance soon as it came and then cut the car off and then it would not crank back. Had to have car towed to garage. Foudn out that it was the ecm computer messed up and only have 70,000 miles on the car. Garage called chevy and they stopped covering the computer 3 years ago due to so many calls about the computer messing up. This should have been a recall then and they will not cover the repairs to my car.
My vehicle was stationary and no running. I entered the vehicle and started it. The service traction control light flashed then the service stabilitrak light flashed the lights went away and the vehicle drove fine. Several days later the same thing happened upon entering my driveway it started to sputter. Four days after that upon starting the vehicle the same lights came on in addition to the check engine light. Now when I start my vehicle the check engine light stays on and after the vehicle is warmed up the other two lights come on and then go off. My latest onstar diagnostic reports a problem with the ecm. I has been almost exactly three years to the date that these same things happened and were supposedly repaired under recall # 14801 and special coverage # 14311b. Please advise.
I have a very important issue I have regarding the 2012 chevy Cruze I bought on April 26th, 2015 with approximately 29,000 miles on it. It was purchased through carmax. As of this time my car has 60,000 miles on it. On Sunday, February 18th while I was driving the car on a major highway suddenly, I could not accelerate faster than 25mph, the check engine light came on, and the d for drive started flashing at me. It turns out that I needed a new transmission.
While driving my car would not accelerate. The car will not move when changing gears. I took the car to the dealership because the check engine light and stabilik service light came on. The mechanic diagnosed the car and replaced a connector. Now, the car gears don't work. Misdiagnosis.
This car has had issues since we purchased it brand new in 2012. Does not accelerate when merging on freeway or trying to pick up speed. It puts the driver at a very high risk of an accident. This car was purchased for my daughter to attend college and she feels very unsafe. We have had to have it towed and taken into shop several time for check engine light and loud shaking noise. This car has been nothing but a nightmare and seem to think based on reviews that these cars fall into the lemon category. We will be taking it to a very reliable mechanic this week and will wait to see what they find.
When driving( in any weather conditions) the car will loose engine power drop to around 5mph, is unable to accelerate and have to be pulled over. Re/ceive warnings stating "engine power reduced", "service stabilitrak" and "service traction control. The check engine light comes on along with several others. Pulling over and restarting the car usually corrects the problem but it is terrifying when traveling at a higher rate of speed, or any speed really! someone is going to get killed. Fortunately, this has only happened on local city streets ( so far!) but I can't imagine it happening on the highway. This has happened on numerous occasions. In doing research online there are a great number of owners experiencing the same exact problem. How is this not considered a safety issue warranting a massive recall? in reading many forums, gm is clearly aware of the problem but apparently has no definitive way to fix it as many owners have had various parts replaced( mostly related throttle or accelerator pedal) with the problem not being resolved.
I was driving down the interstate and my car started to lose power. The engine reduced power and service stabilitrak messages came up and the check engine light and traction control light came on. I got of the interstate and putted along, barely able to accelerate at stop lights, until I made it to my local chevy dealership. They don't seem to know what is going on and I'll probably end up doing a trial and error with sensors and throttles. A few weeks ago a similar incident happened while I was driving down a residential road (25mph), but everything turned off (dash, a/c, radio, digital speedometer, etc) and my car powered off for a few seconds and then came back on again. This is seriously a scary problem to have.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While at a stop, the vehicle lost power and the check engine light illuminated. The contact placed the vehicle in park and restarted the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cam cover was leaking and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 128,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving approximately 25 to 35 mph, the check engine light illuminated. While the vehicle was idling at a red light, it shook violently. The dealer diagnosed that the valve cover needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in an unknown recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
In Dec of 2015 I had to replace the thermostat with only 39000 on it check engine light on fan racing. 6 months later it's happening again check engine light on fan racing now there saying it might be an electrical problem. I have driven chevys for 30 years and never have I had this much trouble this will be my last. From reading the forums it seems like a lot of people have the same problems why isn't there a recall on this car.
I purchased a new 2012 Cruze eco new and currently have 48k miles on it. This weekend the Cruze twice had the following problems: 1. Dic error - engine power reduced 2. Dic error - service stabilitrak 3. Check engine light engine power was reduced to peak out at 10 mph. Luckily the power steering was unaffected and I was able to get the Cruze home without accident. Letting the Cruze sit for a few minutes in the off position seemed to clear the issue, but it was still scary to have the engine shut down like it did. Local dealer confirmed that the throttle body was junk and replaced it but not under any warranty. Total cost was $400. Dealer confirmed that similar issue is occurring with sierra pickups and the tb is covered under the powertrain warranty. Very disappointed that the tb was not covered as an engine component. Many Cruze owners are having this problem. . . Look on Cruzetalk. Com. The tb should not be wearing out at 48k. . . Or 100k.
I was driving home from work on the highway doing about 60-65 miles per hour. The car was driving fine but it suddenly started to loose speed and power. Then the check engine light came on and the car stalled. I was able to make it to the shoulder safely but traffic was flying by me at varying speeds from 50-75 mph. The vehicle stalled within 30 seconds of me noticing the loss of power and the gages did not show any warning lights of heating or empty gas tank. I allowed the car to cool down for about 10 minutes apter popping the hood open and then I attempted to start it. No luck. The starter was cranking but the engine would not turn. The engine tried to turn on as if I kept the key turned in the on position. I allowed the car to cool down for another 40 minutes (with teh hood open) as it was a hot day, 87f, I attempted again and the same starting noise came, but the car never turned back on. I had to call a tow truck and spend $130 to take it home. I'm glad that I was alone and that it was during the day. Imagine if this happened at night in a winter icy road when I have my family with me!!! wow. . . This situation scared me and now I'm not sure if I should use the car for anymore for road trips with the family, its dangerous. The interior also smells like antefreeze fluid when I turn on the heat in winter time. That is another issue!!!. I hope to hear form gm. Thank you.
I went to my fathers house and he noticed the smell of antifreeze strongly. He looked under my hood and on the ground and its leaking everywhere. I had bought this car not even 4 months ago and the first week the check engine light was on.
Driving on the highway at roughly 70mph when car shuddered, and lost power immediately. After this the car would not accelerate. Fortunately there were no vehicles directly behind me, so I was able to p;ull over to the side of the road. The check engine light was illuminated and the dashboard read three errors: "engine power is reduced", "service traction control", "service stabilitrack". After turning the car off, waiting, and turning back on the vehicle worked correctly, but the issue occurred after another 15 minutes on the road. I drove in the right lane the rest of the way home to ensure our safety, and this occurred 4 times in total. This was an extremely dangerous situation during a busy holiday travel weekend. Had this occurred at the wrong time, this could have been catastrophic. Quick research online has shown this to be an issue with the make and model, as many other people have reported this exact defect.
Started vehicle drove 2 miles engine rpm started increasing without pressing excellerator I looked down at temperature gage and it was maxed all the way to hot. Stopped the turned engine off raised the hood couldn't see any reason for car to be hot in such a short distance of driving. After about 45 minutes started car up check engine light came on will not go off. The car information center said oil life zero. The oil was changed 3000 mile ago. A week before I checked the info center on oil life and it said 60% luckly I live in a rural area not in a city with traffic. When the engine reved up it sped up and my foot was off the gas.
Tl - the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the auto thermostat needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The approximate failure unknown and current mileage was 30,340. Dr.
