Significant coolant leak causing engine to overheat.
Vehicle engine light is on. Vehicle is spilling oil causing smoke to be exhausted out of engine while driving vehicle. Engine has had coolant leaks and engine head gasket is blown.
Lack of power, coolant leaks, the cooling system has a number of plastic parts. The thermostat housing and a junction piece are made of plastic. After constant heat and cold they crack. I had to have both of these parts replaced at below 40000 miles at a cost of more than $800 dollars. These parts were made to fail. As for power with a turbo it lacks power. I have changed the spark plugs and the coil pack. Still laces power.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed coolant on the ground. The contact's wife also noted smoke emitting from the vehicle while the engine was running. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the water outlet was leaking coolant out of the engine onto the transmission. The contact repaired the vehicle himself. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Drove my car about 70 miles on the interstate once I got into town and stopped at a red light the car began to sputter, when I accelerated the car was hesitant. Major safety concern, I could have been rear ended. Also, when making a left hand turn onto a busy state route the car would not accelerate it was very hesitant making the turn to a point I thought the car was going to stall, in front of oncoming traffic. The car is at the dealer today getting the coolant recall completed and it will be computer checked for the engine light. From what I was told by another mechanic, the car is loosing vacuum pressure and the valves or valve cover is leaking.

Bought vehicle from carmax first week of March 2014, 3 weeks later was first time I drove in snow and the the brakes did not work at all. Called carmax and though the warranty was was over they agreed to repait because of a brake recall. Then a couple weeks later there was a leak and Ford had to replace a coolant pump. The car never ran the same. The car putters and has horrible acceleration and I have contacted Ford and carmax dealership and coorp for help at the same time all the Cruzes were taken off the lots and were no longer allowed to be sold because of all the recalls and they were deemed unsafe to drive. All I asked carmax for was to take this vehicle back and let me pick out a different car. I am a single mom with a teenage daughter an I am afraid to let her drive this car, there have been several deaths attributed to the chevy Cruzes. I have left several voicemails with gm my case # is c7269752 with first responder. . What does that mean anyway? the gm at carmax in tinley park argued with me for 15 minutes about who if I spoke to him once or twice instead of dealing with the real issue, the sold me, a single mother a car with bad brakes! I almost went into down into a 6 lane expressway when the brakes didnt work! I would have been killed. Its been a couple months now and no one has followed up at all. The snow will soon begin and I am scared to death to drive. Please can some one help.
This car has had several problems. They have had to replace a vacuum pump, the engine shield recall, the brakes stick, there is a horrible smell of hot transmission fluid constantly, the transmission coolant lines have been replaced, a pump above the fuel tank has been replaced, the car surges and causes the rpm gauge to bounce, the axles have had leaks fixed, the exterior trunk button doesn't work, driving down the road it sounds like a plastic bottle is stuck inside the passenger side front door, some times after putting the key in the ignition it won't turn, the suspension system pops and cracks, the axle squeals, shifts at inappropriate times or not when it is supposed to, the back up sensor will beep when nothing is there some times, doesn't feel like there is any pressure behind the brakes some times, and smoke row out from under the hood when stopped at stop lights some times. I think that is every thing but it has been a constant nightmare. I am guessing on miles and dates, but it was not very long after I got it brand new that it started having problems. When I started having shifting and leaks in the transmission, the dealership couldn't figure out what was wrong, I had to point out the leak myself and then he said he would get the parts ordered and they would be in within 3 days. 2 weeks later I called gm, then it was within a week I was contacted by the dealer that they had the parts, after gm said someone would contact me within 48 hours. This has been such a hassle I am now vehicle shopping and will not purchase another Chevrolet.
