1 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/28/2022

Engine overheating, lost power while driving on the highway, coolant leaking, car was repeatedly trying to start on it's own without pressing the start button or having foot on break (I was outside the vehicle), sounds like it starts to crank over but won't start, drained battery completely. Many others with same model and year having similar issues. This needs to be a recall for this car.

Unknown- 2015 chevy Cruze - the regulators in the automatic windows keep breaking- I have replaced regulators 3 times- and the two front windows will not go up or down now-I just fixed the passengers side window about a month ago and its broken again. - the clock does not keep time correctly- had a coolant leak twice - and the tires seem to lose tread pretty quickly- replaced tires a few years ago- does not have very good traction control- very difficult to see with glares no matter if its freshly cleaned-nothing but problems with this car- I usually love my chevy's but this car is a lemon- as soon as I paid it off all this started happening- and I can't afford another car at this point.

5 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

My car is leaking oil and coolant. I have gotten an oil change and put coolant in my car but within three days, my car was telling me that it was time for another oil change my car was overheating. Then my car started smoking but there was no indication that it was overheating. I looked online and saw that there was a recall in 2011/2012 regarding the same problem. I spoke to gm motors customer service and was told that the recall had been closed so unfortunately, if I want it to be fixed, it has to come out of pocket. I did buy my car pre-owned so I am not aware of what took place before I got it but I haven't done anything to the car for this problem to transpire.

6 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

My 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with less than 90k miles at the time was running hot in 2018,car was fixed by local chevy dealership (_coolant jug leak/ water housing made of plastic cracked at clamp connection area) was diagnostic. After few months it started running hot again 2019, dealership said diagnosis was thermostat, waterpump, hoses leaking. . After all parts was replaced and driven for couple days car dashboard notification said a/c off/ idle engine overheating. Paid for another diagnostic from dealership and now they are saying maybe a blown headgasket or cracked engine block due to overheating. Seems as though the defected/ cheap parts caused this from the beginning and should be recalled before someone engine blow up from overheating.

7 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

Been in and out of shops trying to fix a coolant leaks. I'm no mechanic or anything so I don't think much of weird noises or smells but I have become highly accustomed to the smell of burning coolant. A warning will frequently come on noting the ac was turned off due to high engine heat but only a couple times it completely overheated and forced me to stop driving. Any fix seems to just slow down the leak for a little bit to where you don't need any major repairs for a while.

Car seems to stall while driving (recurrent/ constant problem for 4 months: car has < 65k miles). Engine/ loss of stabilitrack lights come on and engine revs high without speed. Lights on radio blink and engine/oil/ coolant leaks. Despite attempts to fix problems, car continues to stall out, leaving driver stranded in roadway. Engine reboots are temporary fix, but the computer seems to be taking out systems 1 by 1. Gm specialist had car for 2 weeks in January & could not solve.

11 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/14/2019

Coolant leak from thermostat housing occuring slowly over time. Depleted coolant reservoir caused the engine to overheat after driving for about seven minutes. The vehicle was then pulled over on the freeway shoulder and the coolant added. Messages such as "ac off due to high engine to high engine temp" "high coolant temp" "engine temp high-idle engine" appeared with no resolution. 16 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/05/2018

Coolant hose leak ruptured without cause or warning causing entire hosing system to explode and car overheated obviously while driving. It resulted in thermostat and housing along with additional coolant housing to be replaced about a month ago. Now my car is bellowing white smoke and idling funny and I find out I've blown a gasket. My VIN isn't listed but I see other chevys with this same coolant hose weakness issue as mine. Appears there are more than just those listed. Extremely costly repair. Also have similar issue with the fuel injection/take off with no power and slow to go which has almost been deadly in highway traffic. Will never buy another chevy.

17 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/04/2018

Ok so I needed a new car and went and ended up at a nice looking used car lot and financed a 2013 chevy Cruze lt. Since purchasing the car. (at this moment I've only had the car for 23 days) I had the car looked over by my mechanic and everything looked good and fine. And since day 1 these are the recalls that have been made on this vehicle but not for my VIN but is happening with the car in order from when first noticed. First I was stopped at a red light and the car jerked forward and honestly scared me as it felt like I had just been hit by the car behind me. ( which wasnt the case as I got out to check). Well then after a few days im on the interstata and decided to use the speed control, at first it was just like you would expect it to be but after not even 5 minutes the car starts acting like in tapping and releasing the gas and will not stop unless speed control is turned off or stopped. So then I run over a nail and go to replace the tire and the mechanic looks over the car again and bring an oil leak to my atttention from the oil pan and shown visible oil on the gasket. (already under my limited dealer warranty). So since then I have checked the oil every day just to be sure im not running low and it wasnt low. Well like a week later I make a drive I have actually made in this car about 6 times already to have lunch with a friend and when I get there turn the car off and then the friend is 10 min away so I restart the car for the ac. Didnt have the car back on for 2 min and the car started beeping with engine overheat warning. Turned the car off and popped hood to check and from the overheating I guess there was pressure on the hose it just popped the hose from the clamp and coolant went every where. Had been away from the car and car was cooled and added more coolant to it. And everything is fine. Well then the next night out of no where the head gasket blew.

18 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

19 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

I have a leak in my coolant system. Since I've gotten the car in October 2016, I've experienced a weird burning smell, before I had even discovered what the issue was. In June 2017, my engine overheated due to a malfunction in my coolant system. As a result, I had my coolant flange replaced. A few days later, my car began to smoke and my engine went idle. The coolant leaks from the flange and the reservoir often. Sometimes, it leaks as I drive, other times, it'll be parked and leak out when idle. I never use my air conditioning or heat anymore due to the burning smell of the coolant. I had my coolant flange replaced a second time. My car was down for 3 months and I just got it repaired again. Last week, October 10, 2017, my car began to smoke again, my engine went idle, and when I popped the hood, the coolant had leaked out completely. Any time it has overheated and the engine when idle, I've been on the freeway, driving at least 60 mph or on the street, driving at least 30 mph. More recently, when it overheated, the car had been idle for 2 hours and then 5 mins into me driving it, it happened. I was driving down a dark highway, going about 25 mph. Before the engine overheated, I had 65% oil life and afterwards, I had 0% oil life. My uncle had just added coolant to my reservoir the day before, but it leaked out completely. Luckily, I was not alone this time. I'm always cautious that my engine will blow out when I drive it. My mechanic informed me to be sure that I always had coolant and water in my trunk at all times, in case it leaks out. I travel 40 mins to work every other day and it's quite frightening, knowing that at any time, my engine may overheat again, due to the coolant leak. I'm almost positive that there's a recall for this issue, but I need confirmation. I have not received a recall notice, but I've done research. .

20 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/26/2017

Lack of power, coolant leaks, the cooling system has a number of plastic parts. The thermostat housing and a junction piece are made of plastic. After constant heat and cold they crack. I had to have both of these parts replaced at below 40000 miles at a cost of more than $800 dollars. These parts were made to fail. As for power with a turbo it lacks power. I have changed the spark plugs and the coil pack. Still laces power.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed coolant on the ground. The contact's wife also noted smoke emitting from the vehicle while the engine was running. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

24 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

Drove about 45 miles and parked vehicle. Noticed engine fan running hard, shut off vehicle and went into store. Returned to vehicle twenty minutes later turned on car, fan still running hard. Pushed onstar button to get diagnostic check. Engine error code found, advised to take to dealer to investigate. Started vehicle about ten minutes into drive, could smell coolant from engine and vehicle slowed and chimes came on with dash reading: engine overheated stop car and turn off engine. Had towed to dealer, they say a port is cracked in cylinder head and coolant leaking. Will cost $500 to fix. Vehicle has 59,000 miles. Also engine makes popping noises after running on highway and come to a complete stop. Sitting at light or stop sign and it pops four or five times. Don't hear it when I'm driving. These cars are lemons, gm needs to recall them and give us our money back!.

25 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/10/2016

When purchasing my auto 2011 Chevrolet Cruze I was not told that this 2011 Chevrolet Cruze had a coolant leak that the company could not repair. Before I purchased my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze a guarder plate was installed too keep the leak from burning off of the motor and no repair to stop the coolant leak. My 2011 Chevrolet Cruze over heated and I was sent a letter that Chevrolet company would replace the coolant once it get low. I told them that this coolant is also inside the cab of my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze and they said that I would be charged to have my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze checked for reason of leak but once coolant is leaked out or low they would replace it. This chemical is a labeled ¿a¿ poison for humans within it's label. Which I have had those affects from it's release at this point. I cannot get Chevrolet to fix this and they said that they'll not fix it just replace coolant just for 2016 after then they'll not replace leaked coolant. I asked them if I could have the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze checked without having a service charge and I was told I could not that I'll be charged a fee. I was offered a $2000. 00 voucher to purchase another auto. Being once stress of over heating or correct levels of coolant withing vehicle coolant functioning components cannot operate normally I'd have to replace those components and if not under components warranty I'll be charged service visit and parts and labor rendered. I mentioned that this coolant chemical burn off is causing sight effects and that it continues sending those chemical coolant fums into the cab of the vehicle and I'm taking medication for those sight effects of the coolant's chemical burn off. Again (general motors corporation legal agent said that's the legal offer and if not agreed active case file would be closed. On 3/10/2015 my case file closed with no resolution.

The vehicle was leaking coolant and the mechanic did not know if the engine or transmission had been exposed to the coolant. The mechanic stated that a leak could not be found. The failure mileage was 23,000.

27 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

Drove my car about 70 miles on the interstate once I got into town and stopped at a red light the car began to sputter, when I accelerated the car was hesitant. Major safety concern, I could have been rear ended. Also, when making a left hand turn onto a busy state route the car would not accelerate it was very hesitant making the turn to a point I thought the car was going to stall, in front of oncoming traffic. The car is at the dealer today getting the coolant recall completed and it will be computer checked for the engine light. From what I was told by another mechanic, the car is loosing vacuum pressure and the valves or valve cover is leaking.

28 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

About a month and a half ago I had taken my Cruze in for service where I was purchased my 2011 chevy Cruze. I had a recall on a coolant leak at the pump. I had taken it in for service and oil change. The lady I had communicated with about the problem I was having about a burnt smell when I turned on my heat. She informed me that there was no problems or leak. One day when I was driving home from work I started chocking and my eyes where burning from an intense burning smell. When I arrived at home I popped my hood and noticed there was absolutely no coolant in my overflow tank. I then contacted the dealership and told them what I was experiencing with my Cruze. They took action and had my car towed to the dealership where they replaced the pump and coolant lines where there was a leak free of charge. (she no ionger works for the dealership) I do not know how long I was driving my Cruze without any coolant. I still have a continuous smell of something burning and have to take it in for service again. I also experience a shack when the car is at an idol. Im being to question my purchase of my chevy Cruze. Hopefully when I take it in for service they are able to pin point the problems and that the last visit I need to make to the dealership.

33 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/26/2014

Bought vehicle from carmax first week of March 2014, 3 weeks later was first time I drove in snow and the the brakes did not work at all. Called carmax and though the warranty was was over they agreed to repait because of a brake recall. Then a couple weeks later there was a leak and Ford had to replace a coolant pump. The car never ran the same. The car putters and has horrible acceleration and I have contacted Ford and carmax dealership and coorp for help at the same time all the Cruzes were taken off the lots and were no longer allowed to be sold because of all the recalls and they were deemed unsafe to drive. All I asked carmax for was to take this vehicle back and let me pick out a different car. I am a single mom with a teenage daughter an I am afraid to let her drive this car, there have been several deaths attributed to the chevy Cruzes. I have left several voicemails with gm my case # is c7269752 with first responder. . What does that mean anyway? the gm at carmax in tinley park argued with me for 15 minutes about who if I spoke to him once or twice instead of dealing with the real issue, the sold me, a single mother a car with bad brakes! I almost went into down into a 6 lane expressway when the brakes didnt work! I would have been killed. Its been a couple months now and no one has followed up at all. The snow will soon begin and I am scared to death to drive. Please can some one help.

34 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I can smell a burning coolant type smell inside the cabin of the vehicle. It does not happen all the time. It leaves a film on the windows. When it happens it burns my nose and eyes. I have to roll down the windows to get fresh air. I consider this a health issue, inhaling these fumes. I took the car to the dealership three times. Once they replaced a transmission coolant connector, that didn't solve the problem, and twice they said they couldn't find a problem. I see that there have been many complaints about this. This happens in all situations, moving or standing still. The following I copied from a forum online. This person had the same problem: in the course of that repair the techs detected an extreme amount of lubricant on the inner dash box where the vent doors and controls are located. The tech removed some of it and heated it up and it smelled just like dexcool. This grease is glycol based hence the similarity to coolant when heated. The continuous heating and cooling of the grease resulted in a breakdown of it and the smell only got worse. The techs removed all of the excess grease and replaced with another lubricant which was a type of brake lube good to 400f. They then added a peppermint extract to the coolant fluid to ensure that if there was a coolant leak of any kind the odor would be immediately discernable from any other automotive odor. I ran the heat and defrost heavy with no issues to report. This fix is not easy as the entire dash needs to be removed, but a good tech can do it and resolve this issue. If you need any further assistance or information please let me know. I would encourage anyone experiencing this problem to contact the dealer and have them contact gm to get your vehicle fixed.
