1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/27/2021

I was driving on a residential street and noticed my check engine light appear and went and got a check engine diagnosis done and popped as a code p2076 which is the intake manifold tuning valve position sensor/ switch circuit range/performance. Which isn't the first time this has came on. When I first bought the car from the dealership it happened twice before and was covered by the warranty but now I'm surpassed the warranty and just feel like this shouldn't be an issue once again.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/16/2020

The intake manifold blew out it's sensor. Not like it just went out, but some how pressure built up and blew it out of the manifold. This is exactly what the representative at the dealership just told me over the phone. Car is at the service department because of the ongoing issues with the turbo and the missing bolts and the fact that this engine was obviously a faulty build, as gm has already acknowledged. I am terrified to drive this car and I still owe on it. So now with the intake manifold blowing up and a leaking valve cover. . . . I just don't understand how gm isn't responsible for getting these cars off the road. I am so afraid of blowing up while driving this car I don't know what to do and I believe in karma and do not want to trade it in for fear of risking someone else's life. I've owned a lot of vehicles in the 30 years I've been driving and am thankful I've never had this problem but good lord, how do I fix this?.

4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

The exhaust manifold cooks the cylinder head gasket causing oil leaks and turbo failure before 75,000 miles. Overwhelming smell of burnt antifreeze coming from vents due to coolant leak right of the showroom floor. Ranked lowest possible reliability rating 40 of 40.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

Intake manifold cover and gasket has had to be replaced twice already once at 30000 and once at 65000 miles. Part failure produces a loud screaming noise and restricts air intake into the engine causing very rough idling and loss of engine power. A recall for this part was issued on similar models, but not for the Cruze eco. The recall needs to be expanded to include the eco models.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

The intake manifold became cracked and I have researched it has been an issue for many chevy Cruze bettween the years of 2011-2014. The vehicle has a increased air flow the results in a poor air to fuel mixtue inside the combustion chamber, also allows oil to blowby. The issue with the intake has caused increased oil consumption/ burning, resulted in a loss of power upon first take off from stop light. This issue has caused the computer to adjust the timing more than the manufacturer allowed limit which has resulted in a bent valve and bad timing.

7 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

I noticed that my vehicle seemed to be having issues when I pressed on the brake, so I took it in. I found out that it was a completely unrelated issue, and had to do with a crack running through the manifold. This was causing oil and coolant to leak onto the alternator. If I had not caught this early enough, they said I would have not been able to get it fixed. They repaired the leak, but a couple weeks later I noticed my car losing significant amounts of coolant/oil. This is causing oil and coolant to affect the turbo setting of my manual car, and has cost me up to $2,000 in repairs. This has been the underlying problem as to why I had to get my flywheel replaced 2 years ago, which was another $1,500. This is also what caused the transmission failure 3 years ago, another thousand dollars. I noted that the vehicle began leaking fluid after being stationary or moving while/after running for 10 minutes or longer.

8 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

Let me list all that is wrong with my car: stabillitrack traction control purge valve tire sensor transmission lights flicker when I come to a stop and use my turn signal intake manifold brake booster car stalls and sometimes doesn't even want to start. All of these things are part of the recall for my 2012 chevy Cruze but for some reason it says my VIN # isn't part of the recall. How is that??.

9 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/24/2018

My 2014 Chevrolet Cruze started losing power upon acceleration. A few days later, the engine diagnostic light came on. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't keep it running in my driveway to clear the ice from the windows. Finally, I was able to drive it to our mechanic. When he ran the codes, his computer showed two sensors and the alternator needed replacing. Over $700. 00 later, the problem still wasn't fixed. I was afraid to drive my car, fearing the lack of power and bogging would cause me to stall in traffic, thus increasing the likelihood of causing an accident. It is burning gas and bogging upon acceleration and / or while idling. Sometimes, it is difficult to start. The diagnostic light is still on. Today, my mechanic identified the problem. The check valve in the intake manifold has stopped sealing and has disappeared. Where did it go? inside the engine? I ask. It will need a new vent tube, a new intake manifold with the check valve intact, and a new valve cover which has to be replaced due to a little diaphragm which can't be replaced by itself. Another poor design. This car only has 47,967 miles as of 2-05-2019. I bought this car for the good gas mileage, which has been greatly reduced at this time. Gm needs to correct these problems since this issue has been caused by a faulty design of the intake manifold. Please investigate this issue as NHTSA has a bulletin number (11170978) identifying the same problem with the Cruze in other states. As a senior on a fixed income, it would be greatly appreciated that this problem is corrected as soon as possible. Thank you.

10 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/10/2018

The intake manifold design on the turbo engines are faulty and fail every 40,000 miles or so. Gm is aware of this issue and yet there is no attempt to redesign the intake manifold. The check valve in the intake manifold is what fails to work. The check valve stops sealing and eventually disappears causing a leak. There is even a bulletin describing the issue but yet no fix by gm. What does it take to force gm to fix their faulty designed product?.

11 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/27/2018

Engine light came on, air leak came from valve cover. Apparently the cover and manifold went bad. There needs to be a recall and permanent fix on this immediately. Too many of these cars are being sold, too much money is being made not to have a fix for this. My car is 16,000 miles out of warranty. Ridiculous!.

12 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/05/2018

Inferior parts! thermostat housing has already been replaced by dealer due to crack. Now, the intake manifold, front crank shaft seal & coolant reservoir need to be replaced as well. Check valve on intake manifold is bad. Crank shaft seal makes chirping noise when engine is running or when vehicle is in motion.

15 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/24/2018

At 45k miles had gas cap message a couple of times. Then the check engine light came on. Took it to dealer and they stated that it was exhaust manifold which was $1000. I feel at 45k (rural town driving) there must have been some defect for this to happen. Does anyone know of any manufacture problems with the manifold on chevy Cruze 2012. Also had problems with vehicle trying to die right before taking it to dealer.

17 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

Brought my car in for what looked like intake seals and found out that the intake manifold manifold is cracked. I called many other auto repair places and found that this is a massive problem and can only be gotten from the dealer and I will be getting one of the last in this area at the cost of $450. 00 plus time. The car started running ruff and has 9 different codes all relating to a lean condition.

18 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving approximately 55 mph, the engine overheated. The vehicle was towed to hardy Chevrolet (2026 macland rd, dallas, GA 30157) where it was diagnosed that the reservoir and hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Months later, while driving, the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to steve rayman Chevrolet (2155 cobb pkwy se, smyrna, GA 30080) and repaired. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed back to steve rayman Chevrolet where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost; however, the vehicle was taken to an unknown independent mechanic for repairs. A year later, the vehicle was overheating again from the engine and an abnormal odor was coming from the air vent. In addition, there was white smoke coming from the tail pipe. The vehicle was taken back to hardy Chevrolet where it was diagnosed that a new motor was needed. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

19 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/29/2015

I purchased a lease vehicle (@500 mileage at the time). A few months later, the motor sounded like I had over 100,000 miles. Very loud. I changed the oil at permitted time, took it in for a mechanic test drive. Mechanic said it seemed fine. Feedback from passengers were affirming that there is definitely an issue. It seems the colder it is, the harder it runs. Like you never change your oil, and the muffler has a hole, or the motor runs real heavy, like rpms sticking. Sometimes its more faint. I tried higher grade gasoline, as advised, this did not help. More importantly. The doors should definitely be recalled. They are a safety concern. They slam back on you even if opened all the way, if on an uneven pavement or slight incline. There is only one latch at all the way open. This has been a major problem and slams back on my children and myself. I am concerned for others that may drive this vehicle. There should be a second latch or catching mechanism to prevent it slamming on your legs/head.

20 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/16/2014

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving 55 mph, an unknown warning sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the turbo charger and the exhaust manifold gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,600.

21 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

I found a white metallic gunk on driveway. I went to investigate for leakage, after dealer had one week ahead appointment available. I found rust on the welds of the muffler, rust on the hanger rods for the muffler, rust on nuts and bolts throughout the under carriage, rust on metal parts of the drive shaft, rust on the back tire trims, rust on the engine block, rust on the suspension, rust on the shocks, and the list goes on, on the many more parts of the under carriage. Not just rust but corrosive rusting, that just didn't start over the last three weeks. Dealer had to fail to put car up on rack upon receiving from Chevrolet, and failed before handing it. This type of rusting happens only after maybe three years or more at least according to people I've shown the photos to, who know cars. Dealership has a gm expert coming in to expect the car. Feel very unsafe driving this car.
