1 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/26/2023

When I start my car it will sputter then die, also cuts off while driving. It cuts off but will crank up and die again after so many tries it will drive a while and do it again. The check engine was on and I have fixed the O2 sensor, the mass air flow sensor, ive replaced the turbo hose it had a big chunk ripped out of it which we have no clue how that happened, I just changed the pcv valves a few weeks ago and the car started but would not go in drive nor reverse put it back in shop and cleaned the throttle body and it ran good the whole day today I started cutting off again.

2 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/01/2022

Cracks in the diaphragm may have developed in the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) pressure regulator valve . This has caused my engine to run rough , especially when idle and have the engine trouble code for the fuel trim lean (po171) displayed . I’ve noticed this recall in other 2013 Chevrolet Cruze but there is none for my VIN.

3 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/26/2022

2 issues. 1st is the pcv system. Pcv valve will fail regularly 1-3 years. This requires a new intake manifold and valve cover possible new hose and possible sensor replacement. Can cause stability and traction control failure. 2nd is the engine's head gasket. Between 60-70k miles these vehicles get blown head gaskets. Due to this failure, you could experience a total engine failure which will completely shut down all vehicle functions. If not properly observed this vehicle will not only have a complete failure. It will need an entire new engine due to cracked block and head or warped block and head. If it becomes warped you will need to machine both the block and head and or replace the entire engine long before it reaches 100k miles. Rendering the vehicle absolutely useless. Coolant issues with these vehicles are bad as well. Even if all these issues get fixed in a timely manner you will still most likely have a blown head gasket as I did. Engine failures on a busy highway are a big safety concern.

4 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/07/2021

The car suddenly lacked power and was making a strange noise. The oil level suddenly dropped. Then the engine light came on. We took the car to the dealer. And a few days later we received a letter from Chevrolet about extending the warranty on the pcv valve due to failure. We contacted our personal service person who confirmed that was inline with the pcv failure. We then took it to the Chevrolet dealer who said it would cost 9k to repair despite it being a known issue. This could have resulted in an accident if we had not caught it.

6 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/19/2021

Bought 2015 Cruze lt used in 2017 from lhm used car supermarket. 3 months later I'm returning to dealership as there is a large quantity of dexcool on the ground. Still under warranty they replace the water pump. 3 months later and the vehicle starts shaking and shuddering while at stop lights looses power and even stalls on the highway. Took it to mechanic outside the lhm perview and mechanic stated: leaking coolant on transmission housing and pooling there drain plug stripped out causing massive oil leak and pcv bad needs replaced. The new mechanic replaced the oil pan and gave estimates for the parts and labor for the pcv and the coolant leak. Now don't get me wrong I love my Cruze but I was told id be close to what I owe on the car to repair it as Chevrolet will not do a recall on the massive issue parts, there is only 59,213 miles on the vehicle. Someone from Chevrolet needs to look into this and either fix the issue or make some sort of recompense for those who are having the same issue as I am.

7 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/11/2020

My engine is making whistling sounds, the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv), is failing. This is causing my check engine light to flicker on and off. The diagnostic codes report that the turbo seal may be cracked due to this issue above.

8 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/24/2020

Seems to bang into gear when driving/picking up speed. Acts like engine stumble. Had pcv valve replaced under recall due to squeeking noise. Vehicle started making same noise again and doesnt shift correctly. Mechanic advised of incorrect crank case psi due to pcv valve problem. Vehicle only has 27,000 miles and shouldnt have this problem.

9 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/31/2020

I've received a letter from general motors awaring me about the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) pressure regulator valve. That may develop a condition with my vehicle, and I believe my vehicle is in the condition as they described. But the I can only get it repair at no cost if my vehicle was less then 120,000 miles. I bought the car in June 2020 at 160,000 miles. My concern is that now knowing about this issue worries me and my family's safety getting around. As this is my main vehicle use to get to work, etc.

10 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/26/2020

Car started sputtering on acceleration and at cruising speeds. . Check engine light came on with code p0171 fuel system too lean bank 1. Pcv valve leaking requiring replacement of valve cover.

11 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

Chirping noise pcv valve is bad.

12 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

Recall: n202299080 the cracks in the faulty pcv valve prevented proper air intake and pressurization to and from the intake engine. Because the vehicle has been operating under these strenuous improper conditions, the turbo has not been able to spool properly in accordance with its design and has also become defective/in need of replacement. Faulty pressurization does not only affect the pcv valve, but the components on either side of the valve and their processes as well. My 2013 chevy Cruze not only stalls in the middle of the street, but dies there and is a huge safety hazard to both my family and those we share the road with. This vehicle has never been in an accident or had any other complications, except for this faulty pcv valve. The condition has exposed my turbo and engine to irregular unwarranted propulsion mechanisms. Gm is hoping we're ignorant enough to cover those costs on our own. This is wrong. Their faulty part triggered a series of safety hazards and complications. They need to be held accountable, we cannot sit back or turn a blind eye in their direction. We need to stand up for each other and speak out. Thank you for making our safety concerns your priority!.

13 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Our chevy Cruze had started shifting strange while driving, losing power and it would start to idle rough, and just shut off, a day later the engine light came on and we ran a code scanner on it to find out what was wrong. 7 error codes came up and it all led to a failed pcv valve. Two days later it was in the shop and we are now faced with a major repair cost.

17 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/11/2019

I had stopped at the store. When I came out and started my car. It instantly made a loud whistling noise. I opened the hood nothing obvious. When left I pulled out on the main highway and it stalled. Problem was the pcv valve in the intake manifold causing several other major issues after the failure.

18 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving 10 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle consumed oil. The vehicle was taken to chuck hutton Chevrolet (located at 2471 mt moriah rd, memphis, TN 38115, (901) 318-3703) where it was diagnosed that the turbo head failed internally and was pushing exhaust fuel into the engine crankcase. The dealer stated that the turbo head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

19 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Multiple issues with pcv system causing car to run rough. This issue is a known issue affecting almost all Cruzes worldwide that gm refuses to fix. Has not been repaired due to costs. This also can cause oil leaks which can start a fire.

20 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/24/2019

This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks I run in to same issues driver information center (dic) displayed: (1) power steering issues (2) traction control (3) stibiltrack (4) rpm gauge goes nuts (5) oil level zeroes out then reappears (6) speed meter blank out (7) radio (mp3 usb player stops working ) (8) head light flicker (high beams look like low beams and low beams like dimmers (9) steering wheel vibrates and gets stiff but still drive able (10) does this for 1hr to 3 hr car acts normal but goes nuts and lose gas at a 2gal every 15 min normally it last longer but then goes back to close to where it was before this stated dealer replaced the pcv vale head as he said it had a air leak ??? mile on car 71,000 used as a personal car and last 1 1/2 as a lyft car and a pvt office when I had to work as a security gurd and had to remain in car in open lot in middle of winter storm with no heat ( 36 hr on with a 100 mile back and forth trip to site for a weekend ).

21 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/18/2018

I bought my car in 2015, it is a 2012 chevy Cruze eco. I've had to replace the camshaft cover(pcv) 2 times in a year due to the gasket being crap and causing horrible oil leaks! here I am again, changed it and it is again faulty and leaking oil. This needs to be warranty and covered by gm. I've already had to do the water pump myself because they wouldn't fix the water pump at any dealer. This is an ongoing issue with the oil leak, and needs to have a recall too fix anything, causing this problem.

22 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

Car was like new for a few months, driven to and from orlando maybe 4 times, but mostly use it for work to take my daughter to school then it started the check engine light being on, then shortly, car started jerking while parked, or on brake, and the "check stabili track control" light comes on, and then would just turn off. I would start smelling a very strong burnt smell but no oil was falling to the floor, but once I stopped driving there would've smoke everywhere. Was told there is a vacuum leak coming from pcv which is built in valve cover. . . Have had valve cover changed 3 times in 3 weeks and each time, it looked like someone died under my hood and bled oil! am told that there is too much pressure coming in and so causes oil to find a way out and leaks it spills it slashes, and it's a mystery! also, there is another leak that all of a sudden strated from the side of the engine! when doing my research, there are soooooo many people with the same problems! this needs to be some sort of recall. Please help!.

23 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/24/2018

Gm service bulletin pip5197j (as amended 10/2018) describes multiple issues with the pcv and non return valve on this engine. If either part fails it is a costly repair and can lead to oil spraying out of the valve cover/intake manifold. This happened to my vehicle in October and has happened to a huge number of other vehicles in the past 6 years. The oil expectorate from the engine can burn and cause smoke to enter the passenger compartment leading to respiratory issues for the passengers. The issue is known to gm but they will not issue a recall or service warranty extension. In addition to the smoke issue, the oil can also form a hazard on the roadway through oil droplets. A very tiny stopper ball in the valve can malfunction, leading to a cascade of failures throughout the engine. The service bulletin covers 4 specific models of vehicles from 2011-2019.

24 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/28/2018

Vehicle dormant water inlet, dormant water outlet and reservoir hose are all faulty. Car will leak coolant due to all three issues. This cause the vehicle to overheatand begin to slow on its own with no regard for location or the driver. I. E. Slowing on the highway placing the driver at risk. The dormant water outlet is made of two plastic moldings that are bonded or pressed together leaving a seem where hoses connect these seems are week and seem to be the main source of peoples issue including mine. Along with the coolant issue the valve cover purge valve is faulty also causing exhaust to not exit the engine under certain psi causes squeaking and poor throttle response also will eventually cause the pcv itself to fault or break. This issue may be the source of the car pulling while stoped at a red light causing the vehicle to jerk forward and possibly misfiring the engine pistons. Vehicle is not worth the value paid for. All issue seem to arise after 36000 miles and after 5 years which means these manufacturer defects are not covered by the warranty. There are more issues associated with this year, make and model. I am sure I will be back here reporting more issues. Any help is appreciated because it seems that all chevy wants is my money at this point.

25 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/20/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving 55 mph, the contact heard a high pitched noise coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was pulled over and turned off. When the vehicle was restarted, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to nalley Chevrolet (4200 jonesboro rd, union city, GA 30291, (678) 369-6497) where it was diagnosed that the pcv valve was missing and the engine was intaking too much air. The dealer stated that they had to replace a shaft membrane. The manufacturer stated that there were no current recalls on the vehicle. The repairs were completed. The failure mileage was 89,000.

26 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

The valve cover and pcv valve leaks air bad and is defective. It constantly causes surging and multiple obd codes and the stabili/trac to flash and the radio to flash off and on. It idles rough and shuts off rough too. The gas mileage isn't as good as it should and the power isn't as good as it should. There should be a recall on this known defective pcv valve cover to be fixed.

27 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

This car has many problems. I am surprised it has no recalls. The problems start two years ago. The valve cover started leaking. Oil was everywhere. Got that replaced but it happened again, and then it happened again. Apparently the pcv valve is built into the valve cover. We are about to be on our 4th valve cover. It's currently inoperable. The water pump had to be replaced, the whole engine had to be replaced. This car is a money pit, and anyone who has ever bought it should be refunded for real. It's a piece of crap and has had nothing but problems, and causes nothing but stress. I will never buy another chevy ever again.

28 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/10/2018

Even after free repair due to being covered under warranty, the new pcv valve and cover are leaking again. Engine idles roughly, both in park and in drive. This is a known issue with Chevrolet Cruze, but my VIN is not part of the recall. Main error code p0171- bank 1 system too lean- is being picked up (check engine light came on yesterday morning (April 10, 2018)), along with error codes: p0106, p015b, p0236, p0237, p1101, p112d.

29 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/20/2017

Radio or touch panel restarted then vehicle began shaking and making vibration noises enigine noises error light began flashing and stability track was on the driver information center about a mile further down the road everything cleared up to include the flashing engine light. Now it is on again and doesnt clear up cannot drive it. Recently have replaced at my expense the pcv cover and pcv twice, the entire ac delco intake due to massive oil consumpotion the crank seal due to squealing the coil pack and plugs due to a cracked insulator and electrolisis on the contacts. I now have 114,000 miles on it and read there is a recall on the battery grounding system that causes this current system and covers up to 120,000 miles? I searched and it has 0 recalls on this vehicle.

30 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/24/2017

Our 2015 Chevrolet Cruze started idling at high rpms, had trouble shifting and the check engine light came on. We took it in and was told couldn't find the problem so they reset the code. It started again after about two weeks so we took it to an independent mechanic shop. They said it was the pcv valve and that they have seen a lot of Cruze' with this problem.

31 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/28/2017

Pcv valve busted and had to have the intake manifold and valve/cam cover replaced. Bill was $1078. 00 dollars. Only had to pay $200. 00 dollars because dealer wanted to send parts back to gm after I asked for old parts. Gm does not have a fix for why these pcv failures happen.

32 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

5 cam shaft covers replaced, due to internal pcv failure. . . Also causes dipstick to pop out, spraying oil through engine bay. . . Hundreds of complaints on internet forums about this problem.

The contact mentioned that the vehicle had to be repaired twice for this failure within a 45,000 to 50,000 mile range. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

34 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

I have have to have a pcv value cover/intake manifold replaced in my car 3 times. My car is covered under warranty but that warranty will expire. I will have to have is replaced again at some and it seems that no one is asking why this part has to be replaced so frequently in a car that is less than 5 year old. There is a code that appears but it is months after the car starts to surge when you turn it on and feel like it is going to cut out when idling. I live in the city and cannot hesitate to drive when the light turns as it may cause an accident.

35 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
