38 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/29/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the pcv air charge bypass tube needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After the repairs, the vehicle began to increase in rpms while idling roughly. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a vacuum leak and the diaphragm and valve cover assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,064.

39 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/16/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet cruz. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, there was a drastic reduction in speed below 40 mph with no warning. The dealer mike anderson Chevrolet, 119 e main st, gas city, in 46933, (765) 327-7326 had scheduled an appointment, diagnosed and had replaced the pcv valve under a warranty however the failure recurred. The contact was uncertain if it was the oem part that may fail if it was replaced again. The contact as a mechanic, diagnosed that the same code showed for the diagnostic testing from southward Ford, 1430 n baldwin Ave, marion, in 46952, (765) 662-2561 indicating that the pcv valve failed again. The manufacturer was notified of the failures, provided no remedy other than taking the vehicle back to the dealer for repairs. The manufacturer had issued 209 TSB on electrical, 75 TSB on the engine, 96 TSB on engine and engine cooling and 1 TSB for vehicle speed control but had not issued a recall campaign to provide a permanent fix for this failure yet. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000. Dyd.

40 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

While driving the vehicle the engine light came on. The car only has 60,000. 00 on it but we took it in because the engine would just randomly stop and the car would stall. The vehicle when brought into the dealership, had been inspected and the car was missing parts. The intake manifold non return valve was missing. There was a vacuum leak at the pcv orifice external port. Water pump was leaking from bolt holes and cover plate. Coolant leak was found even though a few months prior to the leak, chevy "fixed" the recalled item. I believe that the vehicle has many faulty parts and this is the second time I have written a complaint about this company using faulty parts in there manufacturing process.

41 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

Very strong smell of burning oil when car comes to a stop. Oil sprayed all over the top rear of engine and down back of engine. Dealer replaced pcv valve and manifold cover at 44,678 miles due to recurring antifreeze leak and lean fuel / low vacuum condition. Going back to dealer again I guess before it bursts into flames.

42 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

I am wondering when gm is gonna admit fault on these chevy Cruzes? my mechanic father owns one. He's had to replace valve cover gasket on his 3x. Mine at least 4-5x now. One bad oil change at a dealership almost cost me my engine at sunfair Chevrolet. They left 2 rings on the oil fuel filter causing it to leak all over my engine compartment which left me roadside the next day after driving it 2 hours the night before back in Aug 2016. So they gave us 10k miles over this incident in case my engine blew. It ran a bit hotter than it did before this incident. I also noticed a burning smell. Enclosed in the scanned documents you will find a letter from Chevrolet discussing a "engine light" coming on and engine coolant leak from the water pump reservoir leading to a drip of coolant onto the engine or onto the ground. Overtime, the loss of coolant will reduce cooling performance and eventually could lead to engine overheating. Well, that isn't the only issue. Look at my scanned documents to see how many times the valve cover has been the issue. Always the engine light coming on and pull codes. A mechanic friend, replaced the valve cover gasket for me before it became a recall to save me$. Engine light came on again in 1 year. The pcv valve was built into the valve cove creating a chronic problem. Leads to a loss of turbo power. The last time manifold had to be repaired, they lifted the valve cover to get to it; leaked oil one day after my husband just replaced it. We assumed that was the issue (again), so instead of taking it in, he replaced the seal before taking it in. Someone please help us. Last fix was Aug. 2023, one day after it was in the shop. Over $1200 in repairs I called gm, they told me to take it into the dealership. They focused on an oil leak from oil feed line. 4 days in still wasn't repaired. 1-20-14 I think was first incident of a valve cover issue. This is only 2 years after the car was "new". 137k miles on it now. Faithful with oil changes.

43 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

Please print off the scanned documents and add them to the complaint form # 11512592. I needed more room to upload 4 more jpeg files to show the history of the problem with the valve cover and pcv valve attached to it. Thank you.

44 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/06/2013

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that the brakes failed intermittently and a leak was noticed underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 13v360000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The dealer replaced the vacuum leak, cam shaft cover, and valve cover, but the failure recurred. The service brakes warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The mechanic stated that the valve cover and pcv hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

45 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Mil p0171 code, replaced 3 valve covers because of the pcv and now I've been informed the intake manifold is defective.
