1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

While driving my 2012 chevy Equinox on illinois, I-90 at 70 mph vehicle started to lose power. Engine could not accelerate, started shaking, than stalled. Putting myself & family at risk & in danger. Engine needed to be replaced or rebuilt, had it rebuilt. Gm is aware of their faulty engines but continues to sell these cars and put families at risk. They lost a lawsuit but continue to deny claims & resell the faulty vehicles. Waited almost a year to be denied. These vehicles with the faulty engines need to be pulled immediately & consumers need to be reimbursed for the cost of fixing gm's mistakes.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2019

The car started glitching and all of the warning lights were going on and off while I was driving. The wipers and turn signals were flashing as well. Following all of this the motor shut down and I had to put the car in neutral and restart it while exiting the highway. The car has since been parked and if I go to start it again it begins with the wipers acting own their own and if it does start the motor runs very rough and stalls with no warning. Also while all this is happening the throttle pedal has no response to the motor.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2019

There is a problem with the actuator solenoids with the 2012 chevy Equinox. While operating the 2012 chevy Equinox in any capacity it stalls especially when accelerating from a complete stop causing the vehicle to stop in oncoming traffic. They cause the vehicle to also stall when backing and or even when in idle. We have replaced these twice in the last 5 months.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

In January of 2019, my wife was driving our 2012 chevy Equinox. She told me that she was stopped at a light when the engine suddenly started running rough and died. She was able to restart it but it continued running rough so she pulled into a near by parking lot. The car stalled again but she was not able to restart it. She called me and we had the vehicle towed to our usual mechanic. He checked out the vehicle and determined that the rear seal had failed and the engine lost a large amount of oil. He advised that there was a problem that gm was aware of and that we should take to vehicle to a chevy dealer to see if they will cover the repair. We ultimately paid $2022. 00 for the repair because we were told it was out of warranty.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Briefly, for the last month and a half I have experienced rough idle on start and rough idle & stall with the car losing power and going dead at red lights and in traffic while in drive. I took the car to the auto mechanic and stored codes suggested replacing O2 sensors, the catalytic converter and a tune-up would resolve the issue; I replaced all of the above to the tune of 1400. 00; the issue of rough idling, stall & losing power, going dead at the light/ sitting in traffic has not resolved. The 2012 Equinox is not safe to drive; it just keeps stalling and going dead/losing power while in drive. I have spent almost 1400. 00 trying to diagnose and fix this issue since December 1. My car does not have the cel but still idles roughly, stalls and loses power/stops randomly at red lights and in traffic. I have been unable to safely use the 2012 Equinox for approximately three out of the four weeks of December. Out of frustration I googled my experiences with the car and discovered that this apparently is a common issue that was found in the 2011 model (see NHTSA id# 10430919; 10437891; 10499684 & 10413320. Recall#11195 & 12312. Bulletin #pi0562, pi0202a, pip4716 & pi0469). Apparently this issue was not fixed or addressed in subsequent models as I have been unable to locate a service bulletin or recall although my car a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox is having the same issue. The consumer should not have to pay 1,000's of dollars diagnosing and fixing known manufacture defects. Subsequent vehicles made after the issue was found in th 2011 should have been fixed or should be covered under service bulletins & recalls especially since the car idles rough when starting, loses power and cuts off while in drive with your foot on the brake in stop & go highway traffic or at street red lights- this is very unsafe and can result in an unnecessary accident or even god forbid a fatality.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

This vehicle (79,000 miles) began stalling as we approach idle and requires it to be put into neutral and restarted - this is a serious safety issue. It is intermittent and there is no engine lights on or codes when checked. It has happened in town, in the country on a highway, and in our driveway. It has had multiple fuel types/brands in it since this started with no resolution. As I did research this issue online, it seems way to common and now I worry that our only reliable vehicle is not something we can count on any longer. Please consider an investigation with a recall to make Chevrolet fix the common issue spanning over several years of the same engine.

7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

Car constantly goes through oil, and today started stalling when I stop or start to accelerate.

8 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

My vehicle has been stalling any time I slow down to pull into a parking space, come to a stop at a light or slow down. My mechanic says its a problem with the Equinox they say its an on going issue that they see. I also have to add oil every week or so because it becomes extremely low even though it says I have oil on my dash gauges. I have always kept up my oil changes, very rough sounding . Very low miles under 35,000. Not sure why this is not being addressed. Not safe to be stalling all the time. Everyone knows there is a problem why is it not being addressed.

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2017

Timing chain failures at a relatively low mileage, between 50000 to 60000 miles which is unheard of , it makes the vehicle stall , ours did in the busiest part of wichita fall TX . Which is very dangerous , and im being told this is a common failure on these vehicles , timing chains should last a whole lot longer than that and its going to get someone killed , ive asked chevorlet if the new parts are an upgrade to fix the problem but no one can give me an answer so im probably going to get rid of the car which we love except for that issue.

10 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

Purchased this vehicle 2 years ago. It has under 50k miles and seemed to be in good condition. Currently it is at 65k miles and has experienced these issues: -stalling at intersections or stop signs a total of 6 times. Taken in multiple times for this issue. - wheel grinding and bucking when stoping of turning right. Also taken in multiple times to dealer - electrical system failure identical to the prior year model recall. The electrical system that houses the heating system and the radio has stopped working. None of the buttons are lighting up at all. You can not turn on the heat or defrost causing s visibility hazard. The radio it's self does work but you have to operate it from the steering wheel. The 2011 models had the same exact issue and were recalled. I feel this model should be included since the issue is the same. No alterations or have been done to the console. Everything is still as it was when purchased from the dealer.

While driving in traffic my car idles ruff and wants to stall. When I press on the gas to keep it from stalling - it jumps. This happens whit speeds ranging from 5-25 mph. My car often stalls while reversing. I had the cam shaft replaced and the problem continues to happen. I have to pay a $130. 00 diagnostic charge just for them to tell me they can not find anything work with the car.
