This should clearly be a recall based on all the poste everyone is having the same issue. All my lights come on stabilitrack, abs, check engine, steering fluid. I barely have any power, and my speed sensor no longer reads at all. Also my oil burns extremely fast. Link to forum where everyone is having the same issue. Https://chevroletforum. This vehicle is one of several that have been reported to have problems with wheel speed and psi sensors, which then causes the traction control to believe computer wise it has no traction, therefore the light is always on and the computer sometimes shut the traction control off when it needs to be on. It also has airbag trouble with the passenger seat, also like the recall. However, despite the fact 2007's were issued this recall, it's saying my VIN does apply to these recalls. Find that hard to believe when these things are messed up. Just want gm motors to awknowledge it's possible that this vehicle was mismanufactured.

Bought my 06 eqinox in may of 2015. Day 2, battery died. Dealer put new battery in. Next week, battery dead and took out stereo with it. Dealer replaced battery and stereo. Now having trouble starting again. Have replaced brake pads and rotors twice on rear wheels and front once. Car makes grinding noise still when backing with foot on the brake. Abs and tc lights came on may of 2017. Had checked out and needed front right wheel speed sensor replaced. Replaced it and light stayed on. Had it rechecked and it still reads the same. No brakes. Pedal stutters on the way down and then has to be forced down the rest of the way to stop the car. Had mechanic look at it and was told to replace abs module. We did and I finally have brakes again but now my break light is on along with the abs/tc lights. Car has sunroof. Had car 2 years and all of a sudden my back floor is flooded. Thought the kids spilled water. Nope. Soaked a beach towel cleaning it up. Next hard rain, flooded again. Lines are clogged and backing up into my car. Two beach towels and two gallons later of water vacuumed up and my padding is damp and still stinks like mildew. This car is badly designed. The brake situation is very dangerous. Luckily there was an empty turn lane beside me when it rained or I would have hit the car in front of me. The brake pedal would go to the floor when turning and wouldnt stop on straightaways. The electrical wiring in the drivers side door is jacked up too. Can't unlock the doors, turn on dome light and doesn't shut off radio.

Grinding, moaning, starts unsafe stopping distance and happens out of blue, abs/tc lights off and on, so far everything I have read online it seems to be a wheelspeed sensor or harness. At times brakes will also be hard as rock no warning and have no brakes at all. Been happening for awhile off and on.
I am submitting information to report a safety complain in regards to a 2006 chevy Equinox. I have had brakes and brake pedal issues for several months now in both city and highway driving. The issues occur at attempting to stop at stop signs and stop lights. This is the first of any major issue with my vehicle. My issues are break resistance and vibrations. Along with getting my brakes and rotors fixed and/or changed earlier in the year, I started feeling brake vibrations initially. After getting the rotors checked, it happened soon after and "graduated" towards a resistance where I was unable to stop or slow down unless I pumped my breaks repeatedly to release the pedal locking. I recently got my left front speed sensor and hub assembly replaced in hopes it would fix the issue. 3-4 weeks later, the resistances has seem to got a lot stronger/bigger. It has almost caused me several accidents at the stop light and I am now trying to save to get this issue fixed as I was quoted about $2k initially. This is a safety hazard to any vehicle and Equinox that has this issue. I have saved myself from several accidents with quick awareness and action and but I am not sure how lucky others have been. The resistance in the breaks and vibration is very noticeable and continuously happens until the abs and traction control lights up on the dash board indicating they are deactivated/disabled. This is when braking becomes much easier with little to no resistance and vibrating. Between the speed sensor, hub assembly, I have spent just over $1k in expenses and this will continue to rise with the next repair of wire harness and/or replacement of abs system in hopes it corrects the issue. Please consider my complaint in hopes of recall to prevent further issues and potential accidents to innocent people.
This seems to be an ongoing problem for this model, you are probably aware of this the brakes don't work or the peddle pushes back and doesn't apply the brakes after pressing hard on the brake pedal the tc and abs lights come on and the brakes work. I have had the speed wheel sensors replaced on both fron sides and am experiencing the same safety issue no brakes we have spent over 2000. 00 to try and fix this and it doesnt seem to work the dealership and the mechanics keep looking for a fix. I think this model should be recalled or at least diagnosed by gm and fixed this is a serious problem. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 45 mph, the abs warning and stabilitrak warning indicators illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed that the brake pedal vibrated when the pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (rosner Chevrolet, 800 s harbor city blvd, melbourne, FL 32901) where it was diagnosed that the front driver side tire sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the front driver's door failed to open from the inside. The door was opened by pulling the window down. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 866-790-5600 and stated that the contact needed to take the vehicle to the dealer. Case number: 8-3496059432 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the abs and traction light warning indicator illuminated. Also, the contact mentioned that when the brakes were engaged the vehicle made a loud grinding noise. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer twice and the mechanic replaced the left front hub bearing, the wiring harness and connected the lose connection speed sensor. The failure recurred for the fifth time and an independent mechanic replaced the front brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
At approximately 10-30 mph the cars abs system engages on its own, both while stepping on the brake peddle and while just driving within that speed range. While trying to come to a stop, the abs system will engage and will not allow me to stop safely. In one instance I had to yank on the emergency brake and drop the car to a lower get just to avoid hitting the car in front of me. The system will keep engaging until the system times itself out. Then the abs and tc lights on the dashboard illuminate. I am approximate $1500. 00 into this issue at the dealership and still no solution. I have taken the car to my local chevy dealer and they can't seem to figure out the problem. They have replaced the cars FL hub assembly, multiple speed sensors, and the e. B. C. M. Through changing all thing parts still no success. The car is currently there now for further diagnosing.
I have a 2006 Equinox which I bought in 2010. While I had various "of age" repairs, such as fuel system issues and a fan motor; with the age and mileage, they seemed normal. In 2013 I replaced the egr valve and transmission speed sensor simultaneously; as the code was for egr, but would only intermittently kick in the tss code (the car died in the middle of traffic 3 times before I could get the code to stay so we could find the problem). Among looking online for the problem, it was common, but my dealer would not fix without the code. June, 2014, the brakes started pulsating on the car in low speeds. I would have to pump the brakes to get it to stop. Twice, pumping the brakes at an intersection failed, and nearly resulted in a wreck with my daughter in the car. The abs and tc lights would come on intermittently. I took it to a mechanic: he evaluated each connection and cleaned them, where the abs harness connects to the main harness. He found no discrepancies. After 2 more months of dangerous driving, and a whole new set of brakes (all 4), online research prevailed once again. This problem was common; and suggested a rather cheap fix. The 18 in wire harness from the wheel speed sensor to the main harness had an issue. Sure enough I, a woman, after being told the dealership didn't carry the part, ordered it online and replaced it in 15 minutes. No problems since then. May, 2015. What appeared to be a thermostat issue ended up being a coolant reservoir problem. The reservoir was broken, where the plastic nipple that comes out the bottom attaches with the hose. After I contacted all parts stores in the area, I was told while it was common for Chevrolet trucks and Equinox vehicles, the Equinox part was no made available to the parts stores. I had to special order online, thank goodness it worked.
10-14-11 problems with abs light, followed by tc light coming on, followed by the car slowing or jumping forward when brakes applied, difficulty stopping. Lost control of the car. Slowed to make a turn on a 2 way road, car traveled over double yellows, off road, into a pull out area before stopping. Luckily I was traveling at a very slow speed & there were no on coming vehicles. By stopping and turning off engine, lights would go out but come back on after about a mile. Car would stall or jump forward, braking difficult. New brakes installed, problems continued. 10-26-11 took car back & had both front wheel bearings & sensors replaced. Problems continue. 11-18-2011 car taken to chevy mech. & tested. They decided I needed the lf jumper harness & speed sensor replaced. 4 weeks ago: slight grinding sound from front wheels while turning. Check engine & tc lights came on, stalling & braking problems. Took car in for 100,000 service, drove 30 miles to my home. Car ran perfectly. Later the same day car ran fine for 2 miles, then abs & tc lights came on, began to lug down & stall, surge forward, stall. Car stalling continually. Towed car. Mechanic is unable to determine what is wrong. Tomorrow he will tow the car to the chevy dealer for evaluation. Question for Chevrolet and NHTSA~~my car is a 2005. I have researched this problem & realize that this is an on going problem with the Equinox, a safety problem to myself, my family & other chevy owners & motorists. Why haven't these vehicles been recalled, why has Chevrolet been allowed to continue selling the Equinox with this life threatening brake and t/c problem? scary. Not only am I out money for trying to fix this problem but now I find out that apparently there is no fix to the problem! I own a vehicle I no longer feel safe driving, I have no idea when the car will decide to shift, stall, brake or not brake.
I feel very strong vibrations and grinding in the brakes and the brakes become very stiff and push up against me when applying pressure. It will continue to do this until the abs and tc lights turn on then it runs ok. The mechanics found a speed sensor error when running diagnostics and replaced the left front hub bearing. A day or so later the same thing happened. They did the entire repair again just in case they had defective parts with the same result. They tried bleeding the lines and searching for bad wires, etc until they ran out of ideas. I spent the better part of a month with my 05 Equinox in the shop and significant funds on repairs and the issue is still not resolved. It has gotten so bad that I am now forced to get rid of the vehicle. My keys also began getting stuck in the ignition until the entire thing had to be disassembled and ignition switch system replaced. I have since been researching these problems, especially the abs issue and have learned that I am surprisingly one of many with the exact same issue. I don't understand how Chevrolet can get away with such a defect without issuing a recall.
Vehicle developed a shutter when stopping and abs light would come on. This caused the car to take longer to stop. Took the car to ase certified repair shops and they replaced the wheel hub and speed sensor. This did not fix the problem. What finally fixed it was replacing the jumper harness #15773652. I spent over $700 on this issue, because it was a safety problem. The mechanics did not even know to look for this problem, becaue there was not a bulliten issued by gm on this. The harness and install is only a $68 fix and I have had no more problems in over a year. I have read enough reports on the internet to know this is a common problem with the 2005 Equinox.
I have been having serious problems with the abs in my 2005 chevy Equinox. The abs light came on and I had an appointment to have it seen, but in the meantime, the warning light went out and the brakes started to buzz. The day before my appointment to have it fixed, the brakes failed while I was driving. I was standing on the pedal, and the car would not slow. A few seconds later, the abs warning light came on, and I was able to stop the car. The mechanic replaced both front speed sensors (that's what the codes said was wrong). I took it home, and that night, the brakes very briefly buzzed again. The next day, they buzzed again. The 3rd day, the lights came back on but only after I lost my brakes again for a brief moment. The mechanic traced the entire wiring system looking for any problem and found nothing. He finally replaced the right front hub assembly on the second round of maintenance because that was what the code was telling him that time. I picked up the car and when I went out for lunch (about 3 hours later), the brakes buzzed again (no warning light came on this time). That was yesterday. I now have it at the chevy dealer for further diagnosis. So far, they've gotten another code saying that the same hub assembly that was replaced this week is the problem. Somehow, I don't think that's the issue. I'm waiting to hear what else had to be fixed and whether it will really ameliorate the problem I'm having.
While applying the brake, it pulsated and the abs/traction control light came on. We took it to the Chevrolet dealer we purchased it from for repair. They replaced the left front wheel speed sensor/hub assembly and the front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. Approximately one week later, the same issue occurred again with the abs/traction control light on again. The abs/traction control light is on. As you brake, the brakes pulsate like they are trying to adjust themselves. This is scary as you fear you are not going to stop or rear end someone every time you drive the vehicle. We need to trade this vehicle in, but who wants something Chevrolet won't or can't fix?.
Car doesn't start on first attempt. It tries, then even after I release the key it continues to start, like its stuck, I have to pump the gas to get it to start, and it acts flooded. Abs and traction control lights on. When I press on the brakes it feels stuck at the top and grinds and pulsates even though my brakes are good. Ive had my speed sensors replaced twice , problem still ongoing. I have to push with all my weight for the brakes to "break through" what ever its stuck on and work, then they lock up. That's when the abs/traction control lights come on, then I know the abs is not trying to work and my brakes will stop me. Ive almost crashed into things too many times.
