1 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/07/2018

At a low speed brakes were applied and the car continued to move forward without stopping. It seemed as if the abs system engaged. No brakes as my car continued to move forward at this low speed eventually rear ending another car as mine never stopped. The brakes had just been replaced 2 years prior. I had this car checked several times for this same inconsistent brake issue but nothing was never found. At times there would be a grinding noise when applying the brakes and my foot would just go to the floor with no stopping. I am very disappointed that gm has never addressed this issue. I have spent so much money over the years to try and address the issue and no mechanic could ever figure it out. Now my car is totaled and I have an insurance bill that is not only costly but not fair. Gm seems to have taken no accountability and I just hope no one ends up hurt. I can't even imagine if I was trying to stop at a crosswalk what may have happened. I was borrowing my grandfathers car and feel terrible.

2 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

A few weeks ago while driving my vehicles abs and traction control lights came on, right after that the brakes have started making a loud grinding noise or lock up altogether to where I can't stop. I have done plenty of research over this and it seems to be a recurring thing with these vehicles. If everyone of them is having this issue and the brakes are that dangerous, how has there not been a recall. This happens everytime I drive, whether going down an interstate and having to hot my brakes to just driving in a small town, then when I try and go again they make the grinding noise while driving for a minute.

3 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

The brake pedal is hard at times and have grinding noise from brake pedal and it pushes back and it has and and trac control light comes on.

4 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

A loud pop occurred during operation of the vehicle at appproximately 40 mph and then a noticeable change in the suspension was felt. In testing the vehicles ability to travel to a repair center the brake peddle would drop to the floor as if it lost compression. This occurred after carefully observing the troublesome behavior of the turning capabilities and suspension of the tires. It seemed to make an awful grinding noise when making right turns but not left turns. Previously before these problems arose, the apparent issue of the electrical system and its functioning parts(power doors, windows etc. ) were malfunctioning, including the radio. At the initial purchase of the car the only seemingly harmless thing to mind was the sticking of the ignition switch at times. To date, the car is not able to reverse from parking position, and has a new issue of locking up totally and not able to engage forward. The car is not able to be driven and when searching for cheaper insurance (byvin) we were immediately, under no uncertain terms alerted that the car was unfit to be insured. This was told and sent in written form to us from a reputable insurance agency.

6 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/31/2012

Car doesn't start on first attempt. It tries, then even after I release the key it continues to start, like its stuck, I have to pump the gas to get it to start, and it acts flooded. I have spent close to $5000. 00 dollars, brakes, wheel bearings, emergency brake. The front end began to feel very loose. The problem was that the struts prematurely failed and created a very dangerous driving condition. Replaced mounts struts etc etc this car has been a nightmare I bought this car new out of the dealer. 2005 new problem steering wheel is making a grinding noise dealer is saying $1300. 00 to repair it when does it stop gm / chevy needs to fix this cars at no cost.

7 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/07/2011

I have had problems with my brakes grinding not wanting to stop and took to a shop said my brakes were like brand new but yet it doesn't want to stop makes grinding noises. I replaced the starter in my car four times and am still having the same problems sticks when starting or doesn't want to work at all and this was in a two month period. My front drivers seatbelt would not release this has happened several times in the last couple weeks. I have also had problems with bearings had to have them replaced. Also with the steering when driving it has a mind of its own when I change lanes wants to keep going toward the ditch. Why isn't any of this being addressed by Chevrolet I bought this car because of no recalls but apparently chevy doesn't want to fix these issues and it could kill someone !! also have problems when it rains also it doesn't do well at all in rain at all and I have brand new tires on my vehicle.
