My air bag service indicator light turns on intermittently. At least 5 times in the past year, no accidents, no problem seen with air bags by service dept at dealer. ???? . The safety lock on the drivers side controls for all passenger windows does not lock the window operation. Braking system problem in the past 6 months. Ive returned to the mechanic 4 times had my brake pads changed, rotors turned, rotors resurfaced , only to h Ave the same problem. . . . . Steering wheel shuddering bad when applying the brake. The rotors overheat and warp, but I will drive only 2 blocks and it happens. Dont think that is enough to overheat the rotors.
I also have a 2009 Hhr with 47000 miles and the service airbag light is coming on frequently. I plan to take it in to the dealer. This looks like a common problem and should be recalled.
Air bag light will come on and say service air bags. It comes and goes and can be reset manually. Had it serviced and it had a bad connector. The dealership re pined the connector for $155. 00 labor I felt ripped off. Safty equipment falls under differant category the the radio not working.

My airbag light came on and my passenger seatbelt keeps locking. There are numerous other Hhr owners with the same problem.
I was sitting with the car idle at home and the air bag light came on. I looked it up and it said that the air bag is more than likely defected due to an electrical issue. My concern is that the air bag could go off while I am driving or not go off in an accident.
On 3/7/13 my service air bag light came on the next day my door handle broke off and I called gm and they stated they had been no recalls for these problems. After looking online I saw that people were having all kinds of problems with these issues and they are both big safety issues. I feel like gm is not wanting to take care of these issues. The air bag could deploy at any time and the if I was in a wreck or auto was on fire I'd have no way of getting out the vehicle with the door handle broke off. They just told me it was up to me or I'd have to wait until they was enough complaints. That doesn't seem right now I'm having to leave the car sitting cause of these safety issues since I'm on a limited income and gm should be responsible for these safety issues. Thank you very much.
The above vehicle has been in for repairs 6-7times for intermit anti-theft light coming on while driving and a recall for anti-theft/air bag malfunctions. Intermittingly the car will also not recognize the key(s) and will not start. My concern for safety is when the car begins to ding while I'm driving and then the anti-theft light comes on it will also decide to stall because it does not recognize the key and thinks it's being stolen. (it has not done that yet, but it is a fear). I had the chevy 2014 anti-theft/airbag recall Aug 2014. In Dec 2014 my air bag light came on with a warning to repair. In Jan 2015 the anti-theft light came on 2 times. Walker jones chevy of waycross, GA detected no code for air bag. The anti-theft code revealed unrecognized key but no code to repair (Jan. 2015) the light has come on 5 times and not started on one occasion, since the recall repair. I am told by mechanics that the light must be on for them to retrieve a repair code. However, when the car is shut off the light goes off. The anti-theft light problem can wait months before surfacing again. I believe it could be dangerous to drive because of past cases of other similar cars with anti-theft/airbag issues. I have contacted chevy corporation but since I did not purchase a bumper to bumper warranty and no repair codes come up to show how to fix the problem its not their responsibility.

Service air bag light keeps coming on.
I was driving the vehicle and the service air bag light just came on. It was under warranty so I took it back to the dealer to look at the issue (3 times) and the light went out and came back on. Now the car is out of warranty and the light is on steady. I tried disconnecting the battery but that did not clear the light. Since I have the history established with the dealership, I think that they should fix the problem.
My car continues to shake as do most Hhr's gm knows there is a stability issue an has refused to properly address this dangerous issue. My airbag light has come on. The back driver side door handle does not open from the inside or out and my seat belt and back floor board stays damp making the structure of the vehicle dangerous and my seatbelt unsafe. Gm executive response is that not all VIN numbers fal into the service bulletins. These cares need to be immediately investigated and taken off the market. The bolt covers in the back seats fall off at a touch and cannot be reattached. They dig into legs. An accident would present a stupid impalement threat. Why are they there. This is a dangerous car. Gm states my care did not appear to them until 49,000 miles. I bought it at 19,000 miles. There are lies every where. There are crooked salesman and gm is still on the scam. Owners need a legal or congressional advocate for the cars we are stuck with that are dangerous and seriously devalued. They have had allot of training in dealing with owners with issues. We need likewise representation. My care is an accident waiting to happen. I have a frozen shoulder from holding it in the road for 3 years. It is a blood trap that you cannot see out of. It is damp, shaking, difficult to control and unpredictable. I could ot sel it in good conscience. Who would buy it any way? what happened to the legal order that required them to report dangerous problems in 5 days or face penalties? they are way over the mark on this one. Just look at my car.
Airbag harness under passenger seat defective ,,making airbag light come on and stopping airbags from working in a time of a crash.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Hhr. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed that the air bag light had illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
When vehicle is exposed to direct sun and hot and/humid conditions, the service airbag light comes on. The light remains lit until removed from being exposed to direct sunlight and cools down sufficiently. Although, this is not always resolved immediately. Occasionally, the service air bag light remains lit for up to two or three days regardless of sun and heat/humidity exposure. This is a safety issue in that there is no way of knowing whether or not the airbags will function properly.
While driving or parked I see the service air bag light come on. It has been going on and off. I haven't read where anyone else has been having this issue yet. But I have had the ignition stuck in the on position. I had to unplug the battery until the next morning. When I could go to the dealership. They fixed the car it was still under warranty at the time of incident. But now I am getting this service air bag light, when it does come on I can't see the mileage nor the temperature gauge. I want to know can this be fixed?.
I have two issues going on with my Hhr. Last evening I pull into my driveway and my key would not turn off engine and release. I have read hundreds of complaints with the same issues while I was trying to research how to turn off my car. My car ran in my driveway for 2 hours wasting gas until we figured out how to turn off car. The manual states that you can push a tumbler and turn the key to release it. The manual is not clear on what the tumbler is but the only movable piece inside steering wheel base did not help to release the key. We finally figured out how to pull the fuse to shut down the entire car. The dealership was closing around the time I started calling and their option to come leave the car without other transportation was not a good option for me with kids. Once fuse was out the car is sitting in my driveway with the key in it which is causing a whole other level of stress for me. I have to put fuse back in this morning and take to dealership to get my car fixed. From other complaints the fix should be the same. I don't understand if this is such a big issue why there is no recall on this. I also would like to know will we as loyal customers get a refund when they actually do decide to recall this apparent defective car. My other issue is the air bag light pops on for unspecified periods of time and says it needs serviced. It can go off for days and weeks at a time and then decide to pop back on. I have also been reading about this issue in the complaints and wondering why there is no recall on this issue as well.
Service airbag light stays on.
2009 chevy Hhr - key stuck in ignition with engine running. Had to pull negative battery cable and ignition fuse to shut car off. Called dealer and they told me to bring it in. Reconnected battery cable and replaced fuse and car started up so I could drive to dealer. Chevy dealer stated ignition lock syl binding, removed and replaced cyl. I had to pay $300+ to have this fixed and since this is a known issue with Hhr's, I feel gm should definitely do a recall as this is a serious safety issue. Also the service air bag light comes on randomly and can stay on the entire trip or go back out in a few minutes, only to come back on a few minutes later.
The airbag light keeps coming on and it says "service airbag". Is there a recall on the airbags for the 2009 Hhr?.
Air bag light turned on in the vehicle, but after a while it would turn off and then come back on again. The dealer repaired the problem and the light went away. Less than one year later when the car had 50000 mi the problem re-occured. There appears to be a wiring issue with the airbags in this vehicle as there are many similar complaints from other owners.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated the air bag light illuminated while the cellular phone was charging. The dealer reset the electrical system, but the failure was not corrected. The air bag light continued to illuminate intermittently. The manufacturer filed report 71962548301 and advised the contact that any device connected in the vehicle would cause an electrical interference. The failure mileage was 6,835 and the current mileage was 10,000.
The service airbag light is on all the time as of approximately 30,000 miles, the vehicle has never been in a crash. I have done some research online and it appears I am not the only one with this problem.

Service airbag light comes on intermittently. Light began coming on about April 14th, and has lit every time I drive since then - about 5 weeks now. Sometimes it goes off, most of the time it doesn't. My concern is that the airbags are disabled if there is a "service airbag", and I don't have the safety of the airbag system most of the time now.
After starting the vehicle one morning last year the airbag light come on after going to the dealer he says the harness under the seat was loose and unpluged it and repluged it and also cleared the computer,,, well after 6 months later the light is on again,,,this time it cost me $218 for a new harness = $18 for the harness and $200 for labor $200 for labor ??? or I wouldnt get my inspection sticker for my car after loads of complants I have read on the Hhr network and the fact that the airbag will not work when this light is on,,,why is there not a recall on these bad harnesses.
Service air bag light continuously goes on an off. Issue can not be replicated on purpose and there is no common denominator for making the light come one. Speed of vehicle has ranged from 0 (in park) to 60 m. P. H. Conditions of road has ranged sunny and dry to cold and wet. Many on-line forums have also indicated that this is a common error with 2008 - 2009 Chevrolet Hhr's.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that the air bag light was constantly lit on the instrument panel. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 54,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was not able to diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was contacted who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 16,500. Updated 05/03/lj.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that the vehicle has been repaired according to a recall for the air bags; however, the air bag indicator continues to illuminate. He believes that the repair work was insufficient and the vehicle is still unsafe to drive. The mechanic explained that the indicator illuminating was not an issue; therefore, it would not be repaired. The failure mileage was 44,200. Updated 03-06-09 updated 03/09/09.
Air bag light come on in the passage set when know one in the set. The steering made funny popping noise. An all the door handle broke where you could not get out of the auto. And the car show on car fax that it is a buy back auto. But gm say it not. And one of the handle is broking on the driver side. And I can not sale it because it show as a buy back. Tdmv say it was and then they change there mind. I fill like someone at gm pay them off . I know this has been a long time but I still have the car. And I am still looking for help. Airbag passenger side indicator light malfunctioning constantly ( off-on) while occupied.
I am the one owner of this car. Since day one nothing but problems. Air bag lights on dash illuminated, driver and passenger, warning have remained on no matter if your buckled in or not. It is supposed to signal if not buckled in, I have only heard it do this twice in the past seven years. I wear my seatbelt 99. 99% of the time but have to tell my husband to put his on, I wish it would beep or do what is is supposed to so I wouldn't have to beep. We took to dealer at about 1000 miles and was told " not to worry about it " when seatbelts are engaged the airbag warning signals on dash and center console still will be flashing. Airbag warnings never turn off ! I feel gm should include this in the airbag recall, same parts- we all know.
