1 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/17/2020

Service side detection sensors. I own a chevy cruse, chevy Impala, and a GMC acadia and all 3 of these cars have the same problem. Water, salt and dirt get inside of these sensors and they short out. On the Impala they shorted out and I could not start the car the next day. The battery died. Went to the dealership and they disconnected them till the parts came in. Still waiting for the parts. I was told that this will only happen again there is no permanent fix. This is a $1400 repair. Not happy!.

2 Battery Dead problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

On Friday, November 18, 2016 at approximately 5:20 a. M. I was parking my car in a center city parking garage. I was approximately 2 car lengths from the parking spot. I was backing my car into the spot. The car was stopped and I removed my safety belt and lowered the window. I put the car in reverse and depressed the accelerator to proceed into the lined parking spot. The car proceeded at a high rate of speed into a concrete wall. There were no obstructions and the accelerator was not fully depressed when this occurred. I immediately took my foot off of the accelerator and hit the brake but the brake did not respond since this all occurred in roughly in seconds and approximately 20 feet in length. Upon impact a smoke filled the cabin area. I hit my head against the headrest and slightly into the steering wheel. Another parking patron saw this all play out and came to my aid. It was a horrific incident. I am thankful and lucky to be alive. It was as if the car acted on it's own. After putting the car in park all of the lights in the car and the flasher were on. Onstar notified me to ask if I was ok. I explained to her what had happened. After two hours no one came to my aid despite being told someone was dispatched. The battery went dead and it was at that time I contacted aaa to have the car towed out of the garage. It is currently in "brendan's collision, ltd, 210 w. Hillcrest avenue, havertown, PA. I contacted gm immediately after the accident and they took a report. The car was purchased in July 2016 and had 3021 miles on it. It was surreal and I was fully aware of what was happening during this whole ordeal.

5 Battery Dead problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/16/2015

I went to start my car the key was immediately "locked" inside the ignition . . Locking everything in the car up, from the brakes to the electrical . You should be able to turn it 4x (a,b,c,d(on) it would not let you go past c. The key would not come out, I had it jumped in order to get the key out . I thought for sure it had to do with the ignition switch being recalled, but no hall Chevrolet said it was just the battery. So when your battery goes bad, it is normal for the key to be locked almost "eaten" by the ignition. There was no warning it was the battery, nothing. I have only owned the car 29 days. I really thought it was the ignition switch but dealership says no battery?.

8 Battery Dead problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

While driving down I 80 west of princeton ill the check engine light came on followed by the check traction control light . The dash then light up like a christmas tree with lights I had never seen and can not duplicate with turning the key to on . The car immediately died and I lost power steering and brakes . I got the car stopped safely . I called a mechanic in the town I live in and he asked if it would start again. Earlier when I tried to start it it acted as though the battery was dead. This time it started and I drove it home . A local repair shop replaced the gas pedal . I had bought this car new and it has never been in a crash or had any repairs done besides routine service. No one was hurt but this car should not have shut off at 70 mph because of a defective sensor on a gas pedal. I am a retired state trooper and I am sure my training saved me from being in an accident yesterday because I happened to have other cars and semi s driving near me.

11 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/13/2012

I have a problem with removing key from ignition when the car is in park. I have research the data and there are several you tube videos on this same problem. . . It is a faulty wire (purple) that shifts with the gear and cause the wire to be worn and make the keys unable to be removed from the ignition. This problems happens with the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Impala. This cause the battery to die and is a six hundred dollar job should it be taken to a dealer for repair. It should have been a recall. Also, I have taken the car to a local dealer for the recent recall, thinking that may have resolved the problem. . . Epic fail. Thanks.

I have a 2003 Impala. I went to start my car and it would not start. The battery is not dead. Everything inside the car came on and the windows would roll down. But the engine would not turn over. Cars battery dies when parked for a full day. Interior lights do not work, cannot turn on fog lights, driving lights don't come on, lights staying flashing. Battery lights on and so is the security light. Im not even comfortable turning it off when I get off at stores cause the car doesn't restart I have to wait an hour before restarting. Factory radio is locked when I took it in they charged me to unlock it but said that it'll come back on that they pretty much don't know why it happens all they can tell me was that it is a security problem.

15 Battery Dead problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

On Feb. 10th or 11th. My neighbor was attempting to jump start my car because the battery had failed due to a 3 day snow storm. After turned the ignition the second time, there was a loud boom. When we checked the engine, we noted the manifold cover had cracked into several pieces. Also the wires were on fire. My neighbor quickly extinguished the flames. Later, I went to my dealer(frank z Chevrolet in dayton, OH. About the problem. I was told by the assistant service manager that the repairs could cost from $1,800-$2,000 mainly due to the fire damage. Since I have been unemployed for 18 months, I have not had the car towed to the dealer for an estimate of actual damage.

17 Battery Dead problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

Battery died. My car is an 2006. I work approximately 10 miles from work going and coming. I purchased my car in February 2007. In August 2008 by battery died. I had to purchase a new one for 89. 00. 18 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/16/2007

I have a 2005 Impala ss, the vehicle has starting problems which began at 8,000 miles. If the car sits more than two days without being driven the battery goes dead. There is a serious electrical drain on the battery. I took the car to the dealers service department on several occasions, they tell me that they can find anything wrong. At one point they kept the car for a week, then told me that I must be doing something wrong because they can find anything wrong with the vehicle. The car now has 17,000 miles, and I continue to still have the electrical drain. I have had to purchase two new batteries since owning the car. I have to carry a portable power source in the trunk, to jump start the vehicle. This is not right and should not be happening. The electrical problem should have been solved by now. I have been a loyal chevy owner for fifty years, and this is the way I'm rewarded. The manufacturer and the dealer still have not learned that professional customer service is paramount. I may never buy another gm car.

27 Battery Dead problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/14/2004

It started when I bought the car in 2003. A week after I had it. It would not start and the battery was not dead I then call the dealer and after about a hour I got it started and took it straight to them. They told me that they had to clean the cables and thats what it was. But after a week it did it again every time I got in it. It would not start but after a while it would start. So I took it back and they then said it was the ignition switch so they replaced it they said. So about a month went by and everything was fine then it started again. So I took it to another dealer for a radiator flush because it keeped on getting hot which it still does and I did not tell them about it not starting because it only does it every now and again, but when they went to start it, it would not start so they put it on the computer thing and they said it was in the ignition again so we told them about what happened before and they said they have alot of trouble with these cars all the time. So we paid $320. 00 to get it fixed but it acts like it is going to do it again. I just have this feeling the way its acting. It takes to long to turn over and when it does it grinds like I am over starting it. The thing is I love my car but I have not even had it a year yet. I just think that if I have to pay alot of money for a vehicle it needs to be right.
