5 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/03/2025

Very loud abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle, failed actuators. Resulting in hvac loss. Arecall issued in 2014 for stabilitrak /abs for bad grounds on 2014 chevy Impalas. However 2. 5 and 3. 6 l engines were not included, but need to be!!! the car will drive rough and eventually just cut off in the middle of traffic highway or residential. This is what it did on me, putting me in a very dangerous position with my 5 year old in the car. This issue is effecting thousands of the same vehicles and gm's failure to address this issue is leaving the owners of the affected vehicles driving unsafe vehicles. Gm / chevy needs to issue a recall on alll the 2014 Impalas. (which they will not confirm or deny). While I was driving 60mph on an interstate my car notification screen displayed "service stabilitrak"/ "engine power reduced". . . Then my car acceleration seemed to have died and car slowed all the way down to around 20 mph with the gas pedal diwn to the floor. . . A big semi truck was behind me and had to break and swerve around me while blowing his horn. . . I was nearly killed.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/04/2025

Service side detection system came up on the display while driving on the freeway at 65mph.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/03/2025

Side blind zone alert (szba) system continues to be an issue with this vehicle. Sensing module(s) on inner left or right side of bumper cover fail due to water intrusion. When sensing module fails, "service side detection system" message will appear on driver information center on instrument cluster. General motors has previously issued a special coverage "n172097060", which is available on NHTSA website. As indicated in the special coverage document, if the issue is ignored, "the condition could result in the corruption of LS gmlan that may result in the loss of some driver interface functions such as cluster, infotainment, displays, chime, and passenger presence detection (passenger airbag could be suppressed). Within approximately 30 days of the "service side detection system" message, while driving, instrument cluster speedometer and tachometer went dead, and airbag warning system notification, anti-theft system, tire pressure monitoring system all illuminated. In addition to no speedometer reading, vehicle ignition/security interlock was causing vehicle to run rough. Vehicle would not immediately restart after shutting vehicle off. This is the 4th time a sbza sensing module has failed on this vehicle. First failure was replaced under factory warranty, second failure was replaced under special coverage n172097060, third failure was replaced out-of-pocket. Contacted general motors/Chevrolet, and they are not interested in providing continued coverage of the issue, which is a known issue, and likely a design defect, as the design was changed for later model years.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

Side detection system failure. I have had 3 harness replacements on driver side. 2 harness replacements on passenger side, and a module replacement just 2 years ago. This failure causes my instrumentation to shut off, turn signals not work, and shuts off cruise control when in use. I have read outher more extreme cases like engine compartment fires or car shutting off while driving. I believe all these should be considered safety issues. I have owned this vehicle since new.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

I purchased this vehicle in a chevy dealership in palatine, IL. [xxx]. 50k miles a chevy Impala around 38k total with taxes and all. A month later I had to pay 200 for a diagnostic at the dealership to check an issue with the steering. They said nothing was wrong with it and it was just the floor mat making contact in the floor. When I returned home, I had the same issue occur again. I retook it and they wanted another 200 dollars. I complained to the seller of this vehicle, and he agreed to waive these 200 dollars. When it was rechecked, it was found out that it actually had to replace the wheel barring's on the front. It was around a 2,000$ job I have the receipts, and I actually didn't pay for anything at the time due to warranty. I also have been up to date with transmission oil, engine oil, fuel injectors, etc to keep the car running smooth. As of 01/2025 I started having issues with the transmission, the gears were very jumpy and very unsafe to drive. I called the dealership and I was told the warranty had a expire a month before. I had to call the bank to find out this telephone number since the dealership never responded back. The number I was looking for was the warranty which my contract that was given from the dealership coincidence didnt have it. I had to reach to the bank and ask for a new contract. I called them and was denied due to the time that has past and was out of luck. I took it to a mechanic for a transmission rebuilt and cost me 3,000 which im still paying off right now. It was repair around [xxx]. Now I have an issue with the power steering. I also have a check engine light now. I am in the process of taking it to the transmission job to look at it but most likely wont get fix. I now have to invest around another 1,500+ for these new jobs. I dont have that much now and its costing me a lot of headaches pain money and time and many more things. Gm wont do anything about it and I still have to pay550 a month for this vehicle. Idk. Failure Date: 12/31/2024

I have a 2009 with 77000 miles 0n it I have fix the knocking noise under dash 3 times now it is a actuator there are 2 of them. I have also found by spraying carburetor cleaner in the throttle body just remove the the big air hose and spray all around in side this stops the the speed reduction control lite from coming on saying you have no power. The problem I'm having now is while I'm driving the dash lights go out and radio light goes dim. After a while the lights come back on bright and working great they go on and off when they want to the lights showing me the mileage works great all the time its just the dash lights going on and off and my car just pass smog in California in June. I now live in texas ,I have to have my car inspection here and it failed do to a evap and a 02 sensor not responding. They tell cause I replace the battery this cause the computer to reset and these 2 sensors have not reset yet and I have to drive the car 100 miles to make sure they reset to the computer so these are the problems I have been having with my car. You can find your car problem on you tube by putting in the year and make of your car saying what light came up and usually its a easy fix.

Failure Date: 11/06/2024

My car sometimes cuts off while driving. Was on highway 301 running about 60 mph in the middle lane and just lost power no warning. No code no nothing. Sacred me, I truly feel that's a safety issue, for me and the cars behind me. It's bad not knowing when or where this will happen again.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/10/2024

Complete loss of power assist steering resulting in difficulty in steering the vehicle at any speed. Dic messages indicate: loss of power steering, drive with caution, service traction control, and service abs. Abs and traction control warning lights remain on and illuminated while driving. These indicators occur each time the vehicle is restarted. This problem originally started about two and a half months ago, and the power steering loss, for a while, was intermittent until recently. The vehicle has not been inspected been inspected by mechanics to date. I have researched hundreds of Impalas online with the same problem with a majority of them remaining unresolved and no manufacturer recall being issued. The vehicle mileage is currently 31, 104 miles and is not driven often because of the problem and the fact that I own two other vehicles.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/06/2024

The side detection module has just failed out for the second time in under 2 years, 20k miles on my 2014 Impala ltz. The first time it failed (less than two years ago), the side detection indicator on the mirrors started to go off randomly, and then eventually, I was unable to reliably lock/unlock my car. Eventually, it wouldn't even start/shut off (push to start), and the entire dash was off even when running. It messed with seemingly the entire car's electrical system, and made it unsafe to drive (imagine if I would've been on the highway and the car shut down, plus I didn't have any gauges at all). As stated, this system (and side detection module specifically), has corroded and gone out again, despite this module supposedly being better sealed. I had a gm dealership replace the entire system with their kit, which was out of their specialty 80k mile warranty for this system, as they realize it is flawed but refuses to recall it. This kit was approximately $1000 installed, and I am again looking at the same price for a flawed system that gm is totally aware of and one that has safety implications and makes the vehicle undrivable.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/22/2024

My blind spot detectors went out, now as a result most of the electrical stuff no longer works. The car powers on and drains the battery randomly and the speedometer doesn’t work. Every light comes on from front camera, abs, and even power steering. I didn’t feel safe taking my kids to school and now I don’t feel I should pay $1,300 out of pocket.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

While driving vehicle warning light service stabilitrak. . . . Reduced engine power comes on. Vehicle then slows and can not drive over 20 to 30 mph. This has occurred randomly at highway speeds while driving on interstate in traffic. Sudden reduction caused traffic to have to slow quickly and almost caused a collision.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/26/2024

Every year the side sensor goes bad. . This causes vehicle to loose important factors while driving. Headlight go off and on. Speed goes to 0, all codes flashing, gas and ram gone. Car also locks and unlocks randomly along with no heat or air. . This has happened twice even after fuse is pulled while waiting on yet another $1000 repair. This is so very unsafe. Car needs to be removed from roads or side sensor part coverd.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/19/2024

The blind spot warning system stopped working, and yes it is available for inspection upon request. I have heard this leads to further electrical problems and am worried this may compromise my safety if not dealt with. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer. The component has not been inspected. There was a warning that popped up stating “service side detection system” that appeared randomly on my drive home the other day. I had not hit anything or done anything to the car that might have caused this.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Module kit needs replaced due to water getting in it. . . Had been replaced less than 5 years ago.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/23/2024

The side detection system failed. Both rare modules are shorted. The defective module drain out the battery, causing engine start failure. And the defective module may cause fire. I have one side of the modules repaired in three years ago. Now both sides are failed. I had two jump start in the recent month. Every time I start the engine, warning for service of side detection system shows up.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/08/2024

The actuators in the air vents are faulty and I've had to have them repla ed multiple times now. They still continue to make clicking noise sounds and blow cold air in winter/hot air in summer. The trunk deck lid paint is bad. The clear coat has been coming off. Paint all over the car's clear coat has been coming off. There is also some spots where it's down to the metal showing rust/corrosion. Finally, and most seriously, is the car's traction control system. It goes off constantly and without warning! it's been doing this randomly, in all types of weather conditions, for some time now. It goes off under normal driving conditions. I barely pull out of a parking space, or make a slow turn, or pull out of a parking lot at a very slow speed and it just goes off. The really dangerous part is that it stalls the car almost to a complete stop, when I've been making a turn well before oncoming traffic, and it stalls almost causing an accident on several occasions now. Most of the incidents are on sunny days where there's no inclement weather! this system is not safe and is unreliable. I've checked many public forums, like reddit, and there are many other chevy Impala owners who complain of the same exact problem. Yet chevy has issued no recalls!? the only recall I've seen close to this is for 2011 year models. Although my car is a 2012, 2011 parts likely were used. If the recall affects 2011 Impalas, then any model that used 2011 parts should be included in this recall. I cannot trust the safety of my car's traction control system anymore as it comes on without warning, under no circumstances where it would need to come on. People are in danger with this defect! the car cosmetically, specifically the paint job and the flimsy actuators, are also defective. I've always taken excellent care of my vehicle, regularly having maintenance done at my local chevy dealership. Another defect that chevy had to fix was my fuel pump that went out for no reason! I have receipt for this.
