I was stopped at a stop sign on a dry road,when I pressed the accelerator the car felt like the engine was going to shut off and it would barely move. A few seconds later the traction control light and abs lights came on. After the traction control and abs lights came on the car went fine. This is not the first time that this has happened. Also sometimes when you step on the brake pedal it feels like there is no pressure on the pedal. When this happens the traction control and abs lights come on again. This has happened several times in the past 2 years and I have taken my car to several different auto mechanics. I have replaced both front wheel hub assemblies at least 4 times in 2 years. Each auto mechanic will tell you a different diagnosis when I take it to the shop. I have contacted gm about this problem about 10 to 12 months ago and they say they are not aware of any problems with this model of car. I don't know what else to do to resolve these problems with my car. It is starting to happen more often now, and my wife will not even ride in my car anymore because she is scared to. I would really like to see an investigation started into this matter. If you go to some chat rooms on the web you will find many many people having the same problems with their Impalas. Service traction system light has gone on a number times and then went off again. Now, when it goes on the abs light and the traction off lights also go on. They usually go off while driving. These warning lights do not always go on. If they are going to go on, it will generally be on start up. Today all three lights went on at start up, but the service light went out and the abs and traction lights remained on. Turned vehicle off, then back on and the two lights remained on. I've been told it's a common problem with Impalas, you can spend a lot of time and money trying to figure out the defect without success. I'm worried that our safety might be in jeopardy.

My 2004 Impala has the abs light on. It sounds and feels like the abs is coming on whiile driving. The steering felt odd. We in turn called the dealership, and after many days, ccalls, finally got my car in. They just called saying there is no recall on my specific Impala. It is doing exactly what all the other people/crash victims talk about. I called chevy back and they said it goes by state. I geuss I am suppose to drive it until it crashes and there is an injury/death before they decide that there are more Impala's out there with the same problem that need the recall. I am at wits end and dont know what to do now. My car is at the dealership. I am having an estimate done on doing what the recall stated to do and will then call chevy back to try to push the matter higher up the chain.

I was driving and after making a left turn, my service traction control, service brake assist, and abs light all popped on. It went on and off for many days as I would stop and then re-start the car. I finally took it to a chevy dealership and was told they tested the front abs connector and adjusted the timing. Lights and codes went off for about two weeks then popped back on upon making a left turn. In addition to the lights and codes, the car now make a loud grinding noise and the car stalls. I have been at a light in the middle of making a turn when the car will stall and not let me take off- the traction control symbol will come on and I will be stuck trying to accelerate. This is very dangerous as I have almost been hit from behind a few times due to not being able to accelerate in a timely fashion. I have gone on chevy Impala forums looking for other drivers who may have experienced this are there are a good number of them. It seems to be an electrical problem.

All of the sudden out of no where the abs light and the trac control light come on while driving in the rain and the car almost skidded out of control! now the lights have stayed on constantly. I have spent about 3 months researching the web to find that thousands of people with this same vehicle are going through the same issues. No one has done a recall on this in all of these years??? does there have to be a death to have the issue fixed? maybe there already has been. This is obviously a defect in the parts or it would not be happening to this amount of people. It should not be a fix at the consumers expense when there is a definite issue with respect to the parts. This fix can cost upwards of $3,000. 00. I would ask that someone investigate these issues and do what needs to be done to get this resolved ASAP. I will be keeping a record of all contact about this issue. This will ensure that if anything does happen with the safety of my family or others families it will show contact was made and what steps chevy has taken to ensure the safety of there customers.

I have a 2009 Chevrolet Impala with 89756+ miles. I have been having issues with the car's traction service control and abs lights. The lights stays on and when I turn the car makes a grinding sound and sometimes stalls. When the light goes off, the car loses some brake control. I have taken it to 3 different auto mechanics. I replace the gas pedal (twice), the left barring and the problem hasn't gone away. I have been researching this for a year now. My research shows that this is an issue that is happening to a lot of 2009 chevy Impalas. There are multiple websites and forums supporting this issue should recall by Chevrolet. This is very reckless. I only drive my car to work and back. I am fearful every time I get in my car. I cannot afford to keep paying for repairs that are not solving the problem. (3) problems that are, and have been, occuring. 1) security issue: car will not start when key is turn to start. Happens randomly. Have to let security reset itself after 10 minutes and car will start again. 2) abs light random. Brakes will grind at certain times when braking. Harness and/or sensor problem. 3) traction control light traction kciks in when driving for no apparent reason. Have to turn tractoin off for it to stop.

When driving after every attempt to make a left turn,my service traction control,service brake assist, & abs light all pop on. Since then it has went on and off for many days until it just finally stayed on permanently. Also message: "stabilitrak service and traction control , brake assist " finally took it to a chevy dealership in culver city,CA in may 2013 & was told they tested the front abs connector and traction and found nothing wrong and no code errors. Reset the sensors anyways and adjusted the timing. As soon as I drove out the dealer,same error messages and lights returned. Took car again to same dealer &wastold "I must have drove through water or oily surface and lights would go off after I drove 20 or so miles". Lights & errors did not go away. Returned to the same dealer again,this time again found no errors but they proceed to replace the tire sensors and reset the sensor id. Lights&codes went off for about a week then returned with a grinding noise when left turn, loose engine power &steering power, light &codes continue to stay on,& stalls for a few seconds when left turn. I have been at a light in the middle of making a turn when the car will stall & not let me take off. Brakes appear to lock up. Just missed a few car accidents due to stall. Has left me in dangerous situations as I have almost been hit head on & was hit from behind because I could not accelerate and got stuck on the turn. Cannot accelerate in a timely fashion is a huge problem. Because the dealer obviously could not resolve the issue had tire and brake expert shops look at the problem a few times. Also not finding the problem. Finally decided to just try &ignore it but after so many close calls of accidents& endagering my families life it is not acceptable for me to just deal with it anymore or to continue to spend money to try & find problem. Forums prove others have the same problem.

My traction control light came on along with the abs light and the information center said service traction control. The dealer will not do anything with out me paying for it. It appears from my research this is a common problem with the Impala. Mine did not shut down but I am sure that is not far off.

Was turning left from stop when traction light came on also abs light and traction off switch light, now it happens in reverse and sometimes when I start the car. It makes a growling sound,if I shut off the car and restart it all the lights go out.

In the center of the dash in the car when I accellerate I hear two thing, a water swishing sound and a grinding sound coming from under the hood . Then my traction control light comes on and sometimes the abs light. Then when I go to brake there is another grinding sound. This does not happen every time. But it does happen often.

Traction control tries to kick when braking. Brakes act as though they are pushing back against my foot pressure at this time. Traction control makes a grinding noise. Vehicle has trouble stopping. Traction control shuts off, warning light to service traction control comes on, abs shuts off and light comes on, and red "brakes" light turns on. Vehicle drives and brakes just fine after that for the remainder of the drive. On occasion these events happen when going over a railroad tracks or other similar bumps and brakes are not involved.

I have a chevy Impala and the service traction light comes on, the traction off light stays on and the abs light stays on then when you use your brakes it is like the brake is pushing your foot back up. This is going to cause someone to get hurt. I have replaced the wheel bearings 5-6 times in a year. It will work for a very few months and then it starts all over again. Last Thursday I had put an expensive set of the wheel bearings on it and brakes all way round on the car. It did not make it out of the shop before all of these lights started coming back on. So I had new wheel bearings put back on it again today and it is still doing this. Gm needs to have this problem fixed. They should do a recall and fix this problem, from what I can read on the internet there is a lot of people having this same issue and it is costing everyone a lot of money.

When pulling out my parking spot, the traction control/abs light comes on and stays on for the duration of my drive which is usually just around 9 miles (I drive to and from work). This has been going on for months and happens every time I pull out from a parking spot. 2003 chevy Impala. Consumer writes in regards to recalls for vehicle and repairs the consumer stated after hitting a pothole, the traction off light illuminated. After the repairs were made, the trac and abs light remained illuminated. Also, there seemed to be some play in the steering.

My abs light stays on and having an issue with the brakes, making awful grinding noise while driving on a straight away. Does it rather roads are wet or dry. This is very dangerous . I have read many many owners of the 2002 chevy Impalas are having this issue. The problem needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or result in a fatality.

The abs light on my mother's 2004 Chevrolet Impala (only 32,000 miles) abs light recently started coming on. She took it to the local gm dealership. They referenced a gm service bulletin that requires replacement of harnesses and sensors. $367 dealer would not cover warranty because of vehicle age despite our complaint. We elevated the issue up to gm district service (case# 71-898488738). After several calls gm has offered 50% back. Regardless, it is unacceptable to not policy safety system beyond standard warranty coverage. Questionable if this should be recall. We found four other complaints and one investigation in NHTSA data base of same issue.

Since we bought this chevy Impala at gene pankey motor in tacoma washington we have had nothing but issues with the traction control system lights coming on when we would return to the dealer to have it worked on they would clear the computer which would clears the problem for a few days but it always comes back. We have had our Impala in alot of times at least 15x we never thought to keep track how many times we have had to have this worked on its been to 4 different shops for the same thing. We love this car it is a great car lots of room and has giddy up and well its hot and its paid for. We really want our car fixed we are tired of taking it in to be fixed and nothing gets done. They have replaced the catalytic converter at the chevy dealer saying that was bad and replaced the front right wheel sensor twice at amco transmission shop in fircrest its been to bitterlings in tacoma as well as the dealer we bought it from gene pankey. And we still have the same issues. The traction control light keeps coming on and the abs light now comes on, it happens intermittently. I feel it has something to do with the brakes or the transmission! the brakes go spongy when the traction control light comes on we lose our brakes!!!! I am still under warranty til 100,000 miles and im only at 80,000 but I just don't have time to keep taking this thing to the dealer. I want my ride fixed and I want it fixed now. Cant we start a class action lawsuit!!!!!.

The abs light comes on without warning. When this happens the brakes freeze up and grinds and it takes a long time to come to a complete stop. I first started having these problems in 2008 and I've replaced both hubs ,rotors, harness,and sensor. This is a major problem that interferes with both stopping and accerating because it makes the car stall . I have to kids and this action terrifies them whenever it happens. I 've seen alot of the same complaints from comsumers and I think times time for GMC to do something about this before it causes a fatal accident. I've come very close to being in an accident do to this problem and I've tried everything to fix it and I'm getting the same results. Someone needs to call a recall on the 2001 Impala abs system and soon.
