1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

There was no accident the driver side rear brake line developed a leak because it was rubbing against the seam on the side of the gas tank. The line is in great shape otherwise. Still has a black coating on it other than the area that was rubbing the plastic gas tank seam. The gas tank seam is also worn away. We purchased this vehicle used in the fall of 2010 and these are the same brake lines as were on it at time of my purchase. Very dangerous experience for my wife who was driving the vehicle when the brake pedal went to the floor. Luckily she got it into a parking lot and parked. This happened 3-15-2019. I took pictures then gently pulled the brake line away from the gas tank and took a picture of the hole worn in the line and wear on the gas tank.

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

Entered my parked car on a sloping driveway and started the engine to pull away. I hit the brake pedal to put the car in gear and the brake pedal gave under the pressure of my foot and went to the floorboard. No brakes, car rolled into street and I was able to drive home with very little stopping ability. Thank goodness I only had to go a short distance to my house with no stopping required in the 6 mile trip. As it turns out the rear brake line had rusted away and blew out under normal use and dumped the fluid.

10 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

During a road trip, stopped for lunch. Upon continuing the drive to home, the brake pedal suddenly faded away and smoke began to come from under the hood - we found a parking lot and pulled in and shut the car off. After opening the hood, we discover the top of the motor was covered with brake fluid. We had the car towed to our home town - 100 miles away - at a cost of $650. 00 - then delivered to the dealer on Monday - today they have informed me that we have no warranty left and the brake line had rubbed on a part next to it causing the leak. Further more - the required part for repair is on a minimum 2 week back order - indicating that this is not an uncommon problem. If this had happened just a few miles up the road, we would have been in the narrows of highway 101 in the curves with no where to pull off!! the brakes went off line with no warning - where is the recall on this vehicle????? less than 10,000 miles - only choice left will be to dump this car as soon as it is repaired - if!?!.
